## Scale Computing Platform Reviews
  ### 1. Scale Computing is a great alternative to VMware

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos C. | System Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

Scale Computing servers are reliable, fast, and easy to manage.
They are a serious alternative to VMware at times where those subscription fees skyrocketed.
They also have a good and responsive support team.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

Even though servers are easy to manage, I think that the management interface could be more intuitive.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I believe that it solves many problems we had in the past.
The solution we have is a cluster with 3 nodes, so just because of this, that gives us high-availability, which means that if one server goes down, everything keeps working.
The management interface allows us to create VMs in the cluster and distributes the VMs among the nodes.
The system also allows us to add more nodes to the local cluster as well as add remote nodes and enable data replication.
Updating Scale system is very easy and it updates one server at a time not requiring any downtime.
One thing that are announcing around the time I'm updating this review is compatibility with Veeam backup platform which will be indeed a great milestone.

  ### 2. Scale Computing - among the very best choices I have made as a network manager.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gary B. | Network Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

When creating VMs, setting up the # of CPUs, allocated memory and disk space is incredibly simple. I've set up VMs running Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008, Windows 10, Centos 7, and Redhat 8. In my opinion, one of the best features of Scale Computing is how easy I can manage my VMs.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

Scale doesn't (at the time of this writing) support Microsoft's VM-Generation ID feature. This feature is intended to allow for the safe rollback of a Domain Controller from a snapshot when there is more than one Domain Controller in use.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had numerous hardware platforms that were approaching (or had outlived) their end of life. These included database servers, file servers and user resources, such as print servers. Numerous old servers could not be upgraded to the newest Windows editions and we were experiencing hardware failures. Moving everything to Scale Computing gave us an avenue to escape from hardware refresh headaches.

With Scale we eliminated a great deal of hardware by virtualizing these functions. We reduced our physical footprint and the cost to operate and cool all that hardware. Another big win was being able to virtualize and operate older operating systems when licensing or compatibility issues precluded a move to anything newer. Scale helped us assemble and use tools to virtualize some very old systems which would be impossible to keep running as hardware.

  ### 3. The Cadillac for IT

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rudy I. | System Administration/IT Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

Ease of use. Easier to build new VM's, and restore from snpashots when required. I had to restore one of our VM Servers, and within 3 clicks we had restored the server and had it up and running within a minute. It was such a relief and definitely helps to reduce stress. The system was easy to implement and to migrate existing VM's was easy as well. Integrating into our environment was simple and easy and prepping the network was a breeze. The use frequently, as the best part of this system is mostly set it and forget it unless you have to create a new VM. When I reach out to customer support, they are super firendly and really know their stuff. I said in the past I had never had a bad experience, but I did. Im going to leave my review at this point as the G2 review asked me to verify I was human and deleted the rest of my review which was taking me quite a bit to provide.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

To be completely honest and transparent, the only issue I have is that you cant set a VM to run automatically upon powering up, especially after a power outage. It would be nice if this could be stup like with Microsoft Hyper-V.
Another issue we have come across, we do have some applications we run in house, bought commercially that wont run on the Linux Hypervisor. We have had to purchase a big enough desktop to run Hyper-V on it so we could run 4 programs. These programs are vital to our company and this is what we had to do to overcome this short comings.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Peace of mind. Im able to focus on other topics throughout the day and not worry about the safety of our virtual machines.
Scalability is also a big issue, it has let us grow as we needed and the fault tolerances behind this systems is amazing.
Replacing a dailed drive is very easy, and can be resolved quickly.
Now that they partnered with Veeam, the backup process is a bit easier than using Acronis.
Veeam ties into Scale fairly easy and the customer support they provide is far better than the one and the entire process we had to go through with Acronis.

  ### 4. Rock solid performance - great tech support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael S. | Director of Technology, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

I like the simplicity of the Scale Computing Platform vs VMWare and HyperV. Prior to moving to Scale Computing we had a full 7' rack of equipment and another half rack to run our environment. With that were a multitude of cables that were hard to keep up with, and we didn't even have advanced failover features such as VMotion, etc.
Scale Computing simplified the entire setup dramatically with less cabling and just a few rack units of space in comparison. Plus it comes with the more advanced failover, high availability and disaster recovery features out of the box.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

There is not much to dislike about Scale Computing in my opinion. If I had to choose one thing it would be that new downloaded virtual machines are a little more difficult to deploy because they are typically made for VMWare or HyperV and usually not for Scale or KVM. That is a small inconvenience though.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Virtualization solves a lot of our issues already but easy management of that virtualization is where Scale shines. The simplicity of the setup and the knowledge from their support department allows me to have multiple staff members who can help manage it if needed.

  ### 5. Scale Computing HC3: Simplified Infrastructure with Practical Tradeoffs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marc C. | Regional Director of Sales, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

What I like best about the Scale Computing platform is its simplicity and operational efficiency. The HC3 architecture consolidates compute, storage, and virtualization into a single, tightly integrated solution, which eliminates the complexity of managing multiple vendors and layers of infrastructure.

From a day-to-day standpoint, the platform is extremely easy to deploy, manage, and scale. Tasks that are traditionally time-intensive—such as provisioning VMs, expanding storage, or performing upgrades—are streamlined and can be completed quickly without specialized expertise.

The built-in high availability and self-healing capabilities provide confidence in uptime and resilience without requiring additional licensing or complex configuration. This is especially valuable in environments where IT resources are limited but reliability is critical.

Additionally, the reduced administrative overhead and predictable performance make it a strong fit for distributed environments and MSP-managed clients, where consistency and ease of support are key.

Overall, it delivers enterprise-level capability with a much simpler operational model compared to traditional hypervisor and SAN-based architectures.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

What I dislike about the Scale Computing platform is primarily centered around its limitations compared to more mature, enterprise-grade ecosystems. While the simplicity is a strength, it can also become a constraint in more complex environments.

The platform has a more limited feature set when it comes to advanced networking, integrations, and customization. Organizations that rely on highly granular controls, third-party integrations, or specialized configurations may find the platform restrictive compared to solutions like VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.

Additionally, visibility and reporting can be somewhat limited. For MSPs and larger environments, deeper analytics, monitoring integrations, and centralized multi-cluster management capabilities would improve operational efficiency.

There can also be challenges around ecosystem support. Not all backup, security, or third-party tools integrate as seamlessly, which can require workarounds or limit standardization across environments.

Finally, while the platform is easy to use, troubleshooting can sometimes be less transparent due to the abstraction of underlying systems. This can make deeper diagnostics more difficult compared to traditional architectures where administrators have more direct control.

Overall, the platform is excellent for simplicity and ease of use, but it can fall short in flexibility, extensibility, and advanced feature depth for more complex or highly standardized IT environments.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Scale Computing platform is solving the complexity and cost associated with traditional infrastructure by consolidating compute, storage, and virtualization into a single, easy-to-manage solution. It eliminates the need to design, procure, and support separate SANs, hypervisors, and backup integrations, which significantly reduces both deployment time and ongoing operational overhead.

From a practical standpoint, this simplifies day-to-day IT operations. Routine tasks such as provisioning virtual machines, expanding storage, performing upgrades, and maintaining system health are streamlined and can be handled without deep specialization. This allows teams to focus more on delivering value to the business rather than managing infrastructure.

It also addresses reliability challenges through built-in high availability and self-healing capabilities. In environments where downtime directly impacts operations, having resiliency natively included—without requiring additional licensing or complex configuration—provides measurable benefits in uptime and service continuity.

For MSP-managed environments, the platform reduces support complexity and standardizes deployments across multiple clients. This leads to faster onboarding, more predictable performance, and lower support costs. It also helps mitigate risk in smaller or resource-constrained IT environments by providing enterprise-grade functionality without requiring a large internal team.

Overall, the platform is benefiting us by reducing infrastructure complexity, lowering total cost of ownership, improving reliability, and enabling more efficient use of technical resources.

  ### 6. Affordable, Functional alternative to VMware

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brad F. | Sr. Systems Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

VM filtering in dashboard. Ability to view all snapshot schedules and vm configs at a glance.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

Better dashboard at cluster level, without having to pay extra for the unified management service. Ram usage hard to see at host level. Larger virtual disk size, 16TB small by 2026 standards.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Greatly simplified our compute, storage and network stack in our datacenter.
Vastly reduced our costs compared to previous solution freeing up budget for other projects.
Much easier to add extra compute and storage to our array.
Single point of contact for support vs seperate contract for Servers and/or SAN.

  ### 7. Seamless Migration and Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian B. | Director of Technical Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

I use the Scale Computing Platform for all of our virtualization needs because of its outstanding platform performance. Our migration was easy, and the support has been excellent. I appreciate having a platform that is easily scalable with a clear upgrade path, which was important to our organization. Moving from our previous platform was simple and straightforward with no complications. The support was available every step and continues to be a valued resource when we have questions. Additionally, the initial setup was very simple; after just a few short conversations, we had a plan in place with the Project Manager and their team.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

So far we have been totally happy with our purchase and decision

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find the Scale Computing Platform provides ease of management, outstanding performance, and a straightforward approach. Our migration was simple with excellent support. It's easily scalable with a clear upgrade path, offering significant cost savings.

  ### 8. Effortless Setup, Outstanding Support, and Flexible Snapshots

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Terry T. | IT Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

I really like the ease of use. After just a few basic training sessions you are up to speed on most of what you'll ever need. Single pane of glass and simple to get around to everything from configuration to support. And the support is excellent. Several options from e-mail, chat, and when it's an emergency you can call and get an easy to understand support agent right away. I also like the flexibility in creating snapshots. You can create as many snapshots and be very granular which is helpful because you can always snapshot all severs on the same frequencies. Having all of your snapshots on a remote DR (separate purchased device) is well worth it.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

Bringing over some of my VM's from my previous platform were a little cumbersome. Some came over just fine using the Scale tool, but some of them didn't work so well and I ended up using another tool to move some of my VMs. I still have one really old linux based system that I couldn't get migrated to Scale. But this really isn't a Scale issue, but it's something to keep in mind when transitioning to Scale.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main thing that Scale solved for me what giving me a reliable disaster recovery model that I can easily fail-over to and rely on in a very short time-frame. It depends on your setup, but you can have a really short RTO/RPO with Scale.

  ### 9. Technical Services Representative & Network Engineer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bryan G. | Technical Services Rep, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

The platform is dead simple to get going, and hard to break -- i.e. You can spin up a VM pretty quick and it's almost certainly going to start working with minimal configuration unlike competitors, where you have to ensure 8000 different settings are tweaked just right. Scale Hypercore is the virtualization equivalent of Nrivana -- plug it in and play, click the distortion pedal once, and get something you like. Competitors are a bit of a Wilco situation where, sure, it sounds nice, but I just watched the guitarist on his knees tweaking 4000 knobs to get that sound. That does not smell like teen spirit to me.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have, the facts of life. Well, sometimes the good is also the bad. Want more options to tune a VM? NO. So, you know, anyone looking to produce a Wilco-esque VM is going to have to settle for something a bit more grungy.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We run our most important infrastructure on a cluster and it is and has been rock solid

  ### 10. Effortless Virtualization with Stellar Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Floyd M. | IT Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

I find the Scale Computing Platform extremely valuable for its ease of use, especially in creating and managing virtual servers. Its user-friendly interface enables me to easily create both Windows and Linux servers, which significantly simplifies virtualization tasks. The security features, along with the Business Upload Data Restoration (BUDR) solutions, provide peace of mind and ensure robust server management. I particularly appreciate the snapshot feature that allows local server backups, making restoration straightforward in case of issues. The transition from VMWare to Scale was smooth, and I am satisfied with the enhanced support provided by Scale, which is far superior to what I experienced previously. Additionally, Scale's compatibility with Acronis for both local and web-based backups, along with the added support for Veeam, offers flexibility and reliability in managing our backup solutions. The responsive customer support team further enhances my experience by promptly resolving hardware issues, such as the time when a RAM stick failed. I would confidently recommend the Scale Computing Platform due to these aspects, as it has proven to be a reliable and effective solution for our virtual environment needs.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

The only challenge I encountered with Scale Computing Platform was during the initial setup, which required some training. Although the process of server transfer from VMware to Scale was straightforward, I faced an issue with the Microsoft licenses that needed to be purchased. This licensing issue prevented me from giving a perfect score of 10, as the transfer could have been smoother without this complication.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the Scale Computing Platform to efficiently virtualize servers, create virtual environments effortlessly, manage resources seamlessly, and protect data with reliable BUDR solutions. Its user-friendly interface and snapshot features enhance ease of use and data restoration, surpassing our previous VMware setup.

  ### 11. Scale Has Grown on Me—Excited for Future Deployments!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brett S. | Network Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

I have been with my company for about 6 months now. I came from a vmware community in past lives. At first I was like "What is Scale"? At first I really did not care for the product but after working with Sales and support I got to learn more about the product and quite honestly the product has grown on me. Currently we have a three node cluster in one school and I have purchased a fourth node (for another school). I cannot wait to deploy the product!

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

There is a bit of a learning curve at first, but over time the product has become easy for me to use.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have no doubt that this is a common trend, with many people moving away from VMware.

  ### 12. Innovative Hypervisior with great potential

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Wholesale | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

Updates and new features continue to be released regularly, even for hardware that is over five years old. Over time, it has become clear just how stable and reliable the cluste is - it even survived many power cuts!

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

The GUI and the dashboard could be made clearer and more user-friendly; they look very outdated

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides us with very high availability of our virtual servers. And that at very low cost. With Scale we can create new virtual servers quickly and easily.
Thanks to high-performance hardware, our applications run quickly and reliably.

  ### 13. Intuitive Platform with Some Setup Challenges

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

I like the simple interface and management that Scale Computing Platform offers. It's easy to use with buttons for each action and makes it simple to connect to other Scale platforms. I appreciate the cloud management platform that provides a single pane of glass. Replicating to other Scale clusters is straightforward, and I find uploading VMDK disks and attaching them to a VM template quite efficient. Cloning also works very efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

I dislike the lack of compatible templates from virtual appliance providers and the lack of insight into the hardware and issues. It's frustrating to need to add an entire node just for additional resources. I'm also not a fan of the total reliance on support to resolve any deep-level issues. Additionally, I found the migration really hard for operating systems that were not Windows-based.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Scale Computing Platform to deploy various operating systems across the same hardware and software without worrying about versioning differences.

  ### 14. Stable, Easy Setup, and Excellent Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle J.

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

I really like how stable the Scale Computing Platform is and the ease of adding additional nodes into the cluster. The superior support and excellent uptime are big pluses for me. The hardware is robust and easily manageable, which makes my work much smoother. It's also very easy to set up; we had the clusters up and running in under 25 minutes. The cost difference from VMware and the support were significant factors in our decision to switch.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

Would love to see more options on the GUI.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Scale Computing Platform for hosting virtual machines. It offers superior support, excellent uptime, robust hardware, and easy management. The platform is extremely stable and allows easy addition of nodes to the cluster.

  ### 15. Outstanding Support and Responsiveness

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua T. | Sr Systems Administrator/Manager of Information Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

The level of support has been outstanding. Always responsive and knowledgeable.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

The interface could be a bit more customizable. The use of Tags is a good way to sort VMs but having different view options, like a tree view, would be welcome.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Like many others, we switched to Scale after Broadcom acquired VMware and prices increased dramatically. The most immediate benefit was resolving our budget concerns. Beyond that, the hyperconverged infrastructure model has been much easier to manage. Previously, we ran VMware on our own hardware for years, which meant dealing with support from multiple vendors—a process that always introduced extra complexity. Moving to a hyperconverged solution with a single point of support has been a very positive change for us.

  ### 16. Great platform, amazing support, highly recommend.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam H. | Systems/Network Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

The best thing about scale is the simplicity of their platform and their support. Navigating through the dashboard, deploying VMs, taking snapshots, reverting back to snapshots, managing resources on the VMs like CPU, storage, and RAM, and everything else is very user friendly and easy to learn. Their support is also some of the best I have dealt with from a technology vendor. They are quick to answer and they almost always can fix my issue during that phone call.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

There aren't really many downsides to Scale. The platform itself is great.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Problems such as file level recovery, taking and reverting back to snapshots, and being able to clearly see our VMs and resources used is a huge benefit.

  ### 17. Easy to use, and a caring support team.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan H. | IT Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

The small Electric Cooperative I work for would not be able to function on the level we do without our Scale system. It has become invaluable. We host multiple critical servers on our Scale system. I love how user friendly the interface is. I have had little to no issues using our Scale system to grow our company.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

Honestly, nothing so far. Once the system is in place, it has been easy to use, and any trouble I have had on our end was quickly resolved by the support team.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to physically install and upgrade our outaded servers was a daunting task, but implimenting Scale to virtualize the process made it a breeze.

  ### 18. SCALE hypervisor; easy to manage and cost-effective for SMBs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Todd E. | DIR of IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

I like the form factor (6U) for close to 1Pb of storage, 3 hosts. The management interface is super simple. As someone who came from ESX and Hyper-V I found scale to much less complicated and streamlined for this company's smaller virtual environment.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

Simple is great, but if you really want to dig deep into an issue or configuration, you might need to engage SCALE support. However, I've found them to be super fast to respond, super knowledgeable, and super helpful in quickly resolving any complicated setup or issue for a virtual machine.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A more robust virtual environment for us, coming from Hyper-V. We needed to implement more CPU/RAM/Disk capacity and when we priced out other options like ESX, Hyper-V, Nutanix, Dell, etc. we just found SCALE to be more cost-effective, easier to manage, and an interesting package in that it's basically 3 DELL Servers with each having their own pool of storage that is presented as one pool to the hypervisor.

  ### 19. Effortless Setup and Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

It is very quick and easy to get going with Scale. Out of the box experience is very smooth and the assistance provided by support was on target and simple to follow. You don't need experience with other solutions to get this running reliably.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

Due to its ease of us, some features that power users would like are missing. There is no virtual networking, there is no storage management, there is no native support for OVAs. While it can convert the containers, it requires an SMB share which may not be available in some environments. Additionally, there is no timeout for the hypervisor admin login (well, there is but I was told its 12 months), which may be a major security concern for some.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a reliable solution to host a handful of VMs during a transition from data center to cloud. This product was priced right, and provided the performance we needed. End users had no idea their systems had moved to another location.

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

I appreciate how Scale Computing Platform offers ease of use for migrating our existing VM workload and building out new VM infrastructure, which is crucial for modernizing our IT operations. The streamlined interface and functionality are great for the day-to-day management of virtualized infrastructure, saving time and resources and enabling our IT team to focus on other priorities. The initial setup was quite easy and the documentation is clear, plus their deployment support is great to work with.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

Scale Computing Platform is definitely lacking in a few areas such as adding or modifying VM resources in real time without the need to power down the VM. Integration with major backup vendors is another concern, although this is less of an issue now with official support for Veeam. We’ve faced limitations when adding or removing NICs without rebooting the server, or changing the VLAN assignments to the vNICs. There are also bugs, like adding a second vNIC causing a blue screen on the server, which haven't been resolved.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the Scale Computing Platform for an easy transition from VMWare and efficient VM infrastructure management, saving time and resources for other IT priorities.

I find Scale Computing Platform solves our server management issues, offering faster patching, improved UI, and saving us time. It's user-friendly, intuitive, and more reliable than VMWare, simplifying our infrastructure operations.

  ### 26. Streamlined VM Management, Minor Transition Hiccups

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly S. | IT Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

I really appreciate how the Scale Computing Platform simplifies the process of setting up virtual machines (VMs). Unlike VMware, which involves numerous settings and layers that I find cumbersome, Scale Computing allows me to stand up a VM in just thirty seconds. This streamlined process makes it significantly easier to manage resources efficiently and be more nimble in making them available for specific applications or departments. The platform provides a much cleaner and simpler view for editing and modifying VMs, helping to avoid issues that can arise from misconfigured settings often encountered in more complex systems like VMware. Its simplicity and efficiency are truly valuable to me as they save me considerable time and allow my IT operations to be faster and more flexible. This agility is particularly beneficial in our 24/7 operational environment, where quick and adaptive responses to VM needs are essential.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

I find it frustrating that I cannot easily copy and paste between my machine and virtual machines (VMs) within the Scale Computing Platform. This limitation makes simple tasks, such as transferring data for installations, more cumbersome. Additionally, while setting things up initially was straightforward, transitioning VMs from VMware to Scale has been challenging. As our facility operates 24/7, taking VMs down for hours during the transition is impractical, and the tools we've used, such as Acronis and now OpenText, while functional, have made the process lengthy, especially for large VMs.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find the Scale Computing Platform simplifies VM management, making it easier to set up and modify VMs with a cleaner interface. It avoids misconfiguration issues common in complex systems like VMware, leading to smoother operations and increased efficiency.

  ### 27. No Fuss, No Muss with a Proviso

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Packaging and Containers | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

Running cores services on Scale is ridiculously simple. I mean, dead easy. Spin up a new VM? Done in a flash. Downtime? Not likely, these things keep on going and going and going. Uptime? 7 billion hours.

If you've ever been to a concert and seen the guitar players with a million peddles and knobs ... thats cool but can easily get in the way. Scale gives you the dulcet tones you are looking for, but without needing to fiddle with 1000 knobs.

Support? Well, you may not ever need it because things run smoothly and so you'll just think up some minor grievance, just so you can have a quick little chat with the Scale team. Expecting a reply to your email tomorrow? Nope, you're getting one today!

Want to add a node? Yeah, that's easy if you know how to lift a server, play with cage nuts, and plug in a few cables. Done.

What else can I say? It's that simple.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

First, If you are that guy at the front of the stage at a Wilco concert ogling all the pedals and knobs used by the guitar palyers and you think a server should be the same, then Scale is not for you. You probably want a platform where you can fine tune every last aspect needlessly in an effort to feel important, offering aggrandizing reports of your accomplishments to upper mgmt.

Second, and more seriously, Scale was recently merged with Acumera, and backed by Oaktree Capital Management, so expect some weird and fishy stuff to start happening to price, support quality, and more. If there is one thing financial firms are good at, it's making cuts. They are not good at retaining and building quality support (outsource it instead to an indifferent entity paying people a fraction of what internal staff were being paid), and keeping subscription / pricing clear and fair. I anticipate this to go Broadcom, if you catch my drift.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a number of high resource applications that we need to run and are unwilling to move them to the cloud. Needless to say, this is a problem that Scale solves for us.

I appreciate that Scale Computing Platform provides HCI Systems that make virtualization easy. The software, Hypercore, is very user-friendly, especially when it comes to creating a VM, taking snapshots, and replicating them for disaster recovery. VM management is a breeze with it. Also, the VMs migrated to Hypercore are super fast compared to when they were on Hyper-V. The initial setup was very easy and fast. I'm rating it a 10 because I'm already doing Scale Computing marketing here in my country!

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

I find reporting problematic, as generating reports is still an issue, and even when it works, it's difficult to get them.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scale Computing Platform provides stability, saves time, and simplifies virtualization tasks like VM management, snapshots, and disaster recovery.

  ### 41. Reliable and performant hypervisor solution, great alternative to other giants in the market

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian M. | Systems Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?**

This has been a rock solid platform, that was incredibly easy to set up and start using. This ease of use partly comes from the software's focus and lack of bloat that 99% of users don't need. This also means that some fringe use cases may not find Scale appropriate for all their needs. In my experience though, the vast majority of customers evaluating alternatives to VMware and Nutanix would likely find Scale the more compelling choice. And, if you ever need it, Scale's support team has been wonderful to work with and very quick to answer questions.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

Scale, being a smaller company developing this software platform means that the giants in the industry may have advantages when it comes to feature rollout and additional product compatibility, in our case Rubrik backup appliance support. We needed to find another solution for our backups (we went with Acronis Cyber Protect). If you just need a straightforward hypervisor solution that doesn't break the bank, this has been a great choice though.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Drop in replacement for VMware cluster that was too expensive to continue licensing. We gained much more horsepower for significantly less money.

  ### 42. Effortless Scalability, High Availability

The servers, support, and the company itself are outstanding.

**What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?**

Right now, I don't have any dislikes to mention.

**What problems is Scale Computing Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The first major benefit for us was moving away from VMWare's new licensing model. After setting up the new servers, we no longer have to check multiple host servers individually for issues, since I can now monitor everything from a single location. Backup speed problems have also been resolved—backups are now running smoothly without any issues. Another improvement is that I no longer need to schedule downtime for host upgrades; I can perform these upgrades during the day with no downtime at all.
