## SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite Reviews
 ### 1. Streamlined VM Management & Improved VM performance after migration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly S. | IT Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

I really appreciate how the Scale Computing Platform simplifies the process of setting up virtual machines (VMs). Unlike VMware, which involves numerous settings and layers that I find cumbersome, Scale Computing allows me to stand up a VM in just thirty seconds. This streamlined process makes it significantly easier to manage resources efficiently and be more nimble in making them available for specific applications or departments. The platform provides a much cleaner and simpler view for editing and modifying VMs, helping to avoid issues that can arise from misconfigured settings often encountered in more complex systems like VMware. Its simplicity and efficiency are truly valuable to me as they save me considerable time and allow my IT operations to be faster and more flexible. This agility is particularly beneficial in our 24/7 operational environment, where quick and adaptive responses to VM needs are essential.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

With the latest software update I can now copy/paste over to VMs from my local machine which has proved super helpful. Additionally, while setting things up initially was straightforward, transitioning VMs from VMware to Scale has been challenging. As our facility operates 24/7, taking VMs down for hours during the transition is impractical, and the tools we've used, such as Acronis and now OpenText, while functional, have made the process lengthy, especially for large VMs.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find the Scale Computing Platform simplifies VM management, making it easier to set up and modify VMs with a cleaner interface. It avoids misconfiguration issues common in complex systems like VMware, leading to smoother operations and increased efficiency. It is also much easier to stand-up new VMs compared to VMware.

 ### 2. Technical Services Representative & Network Engineer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bryan G. | Technical Services Rep, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

The platform is dead simple to get going, and hard to break -- i.e. You can spin up a VM pretty quick and it's almost certainly going to start working with minimal configuration unlike competitors, where you have to ensure 8000 different settings are tweaked just right. Scale Hypercore is the virtualization equivalent of Nrivana -- plug it in and play, click the distortion pedal once, and get something you like. Competitors are a bit of a Wilco situation where, sure, it sounds nice, but I just watched the guitarist on his knees tweaking 4000 knobs to get that sound. That does not smell like teen spirit to me.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have, the facts of life. Well, sometimes the good is also the bad. Want more options to tune a VM? NO. So, you know, anyone looking to produce a Wilco-esque VM is going to have to settle for something a bit more grungy.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We run our most important infrastructure on a cluster and it is and has been rock solid

 ### 3. Effortless Setup and Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

It is very quick and easy to get going with Scale. Out of the box experience is very smooth and the assistance provided by support was on target and simple to follow. You don't need experience with other solutions to get this running reliably.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

Due to its ease of us, some features that power users would like are missing. There is no virtual networking, there is no storage management, there is no native support for OVAs. While it can convert the containers, it requires an SMB share which may not be available in some environments. Additionally, there is no timeout for the hypervisor admin login (well, there is but I was told its 12 months), which may be a major security concern for some.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a reliable solution to host a handful of VMs during a transition from data center to cloud. This product was priced right, and provided the performance we needed. End users had no idea their systems had moved to another location.

 ### 4. Reliable and performant hypervisor solution, great alternative to other giants in the market

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian M. | Systems Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2025

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

This has been a rock solid platform, that was incredibly easy to set up and start using. This ease of use partly comes from the software's focus and lack of bloat that 99% of users don't need. This also means that some fringe use cases may not find Scale appropriate for all their needs. In my experience though, the vast majority of customers evaluating alternatives to VMware and Nutanix would likely find Scale the more compelling choice. And, if you ever need it, Scale's support team has been wonderful to work with and very quick to answer questions.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

Scale, being a smaller company developing this software platform means that the giants in the industry may have advantages when it comes to feature rollout and additional product compatibility, in our case Rubrik backup appliance support. We needed to find another solution for our backups (we went with Acronis Cyber Protect). If you just need a straightforward hypervisor solution that doesn't break the bank, this has been a great choice though.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Drop in replacement for VMware cluster that was too expensive to continue licensing. We gained much more horsepower for significantly less money.

 ### 5. Effortless Scalability, High Availability

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas H. | Infrastructure Technician, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2025

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

I like how Scale Computing Platform makes it easy to scale up and set up VMs in a high-availability environment, which helps minimize downtime. It's a huge win for business continuity. The biggest benefit is the peace of mind knowing my systems are resilient. The initial setup was easy, which I appreciate.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

Some advanced configuration options could be more customizable for power users. Specifically Having SNMP control without needing to open a support ticket would also be nice.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Scale Computing Platform for running VMs. It's easy to scale up and set up VMs in a high-availability environment, minimizing downtime. This provides peace of mind with system resilience and is a huge win for business continuity.

 ### 6. Effortless Infrastructure for Small and Medium Businesses

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2025

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

Scale is very easy to use for someone who does not have a ton of background or experience in IT. Being thrown into the fire with my job with minimal experience, I was blessed that Scale was our infrastructure. Scale is perfect for small and medium companies who do not have large IT teams and need to spin up a local domain and servers for onsite hosting.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

Scale may lack the capabilities of its competitors in the way of configurability and capabilities for larger companies or those who's product is software/hosting etc.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Small IT teams with lack of experience, support for installation and configuration, easy setup and monitoring. Scale is a non-intimidating hosting solution.

 ### 7. Solid hyper-converged solution for small/medium businesses.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris C. | IT Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2025

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

Simplicity. Honestly, at first I thought it looked too simple, but after fully migrating over to Scale from VMware I realized I didn't require the thousand tweaks that it offered. Plus, most SysAdmin's dread upgrades to VMware and with Scale it is an absolute breeze. I spend barely anytime having to manage our 3-node cluster compared to what I was doing with our VMware cluster.

We've been running Scale for a little over 2 years and it's been exceptional. Support is all US based and timely.

We will be putting in our first DR node in a few months so we are committed to Scale. Also, no need to purchase additional licensing for replication.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

There are few things I wish they would add such as Hot Add CPU/Memory, Dynamic Memory, firmware management (the ability to managed drivers/firmware for the hardware), advanced networking (netflow within the hypervisor), VM metrics, VM boot order, and VM affinity (I want to make sure my Domain Controller's are running on different hosts).

Even with these features missing they weren't enough to sway me to stay with VMware or move to Nutanix.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are small/medium business that didn't wanted to simplify our virtualized enviornment. Scale gave us a higher fault tolerances compared to our previous setup and freed up man-hours that could be focused on other projects. For small/medium businesses Scale is an exceptional product.

 ### 8. Highly compelling platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2025

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

Scale Computing offers exceptional value, simplicity, and reliability for its target audience. It excels in environments where ease of use, minimal overhead, and cost-effectiveness are priorities. For IT teams that don’t need massive scale or enterprise-level complexity, it’s a highly compelling platform.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

If you’re coming from something like VMware with all the bells and whistles, you might notice some gaps—especially around advanced networking or automation.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Core datacenter HCI replacement for EOL Cisco Hyperflex UCS

 ### 9. Decent Hypervisor for the price

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2022

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

For certain use case scenarios, scale is a good solution. Its UI is limited and not as granular as other solutions.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

Not as robust as competitors like VMware, has very few metrics, and troubleshooting can be complex if the issue is outside of what you can do from the GUI.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use scale as our primary hypervisor for VDI.

 ### 10. Great Alternate for VMWare

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ankit J. | Manager, Systems & Network Architecture, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

What I like best about Scale Computing Platform is its seamless integration and ease of use, making complex IT management straightforward and efficient

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

What I dislike about Scale Computing Platform is its limited control and insight, which can be frustrating for detailed management and monitoring.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running Multiple VMs in different Nodes for Redundancy and without needing a different solution for storage.

 ### 11. Scale Computing is an ideal replacement for VMWare

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon B. | VP of Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2024

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

The best thing about the Scale platform is the simplicity of implemenation and maintenance. It reduces the amount of training needed for technical staff responsible for maintaining infrastructure. Having implemented multiple systems for ourselves and our clients over the last 5-7 years I can say confidently that the technology is reliable and technical / customer support is effective and easy to work with.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

Really the only downsides I've found in working with the Scale platform is it is limited in it's ability to connect to external storage sources (like mounting in iSCSI target to import VMs) and the lack of a fully featured virtual networking module. These are features that aren't needed 95% of the time, and there are other ways to accomplish just about everything.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scale has solved our need for a virtualization platform that is (a) simple to manage, (b) can easily grow and expand as our needs change and (c) provide options for offsite replication. As an alternative to the hypervisor host + SAN architecture we used in the past, it's reduced our infrastructure expenses significantly over 5 years.

 ### 12. Nothing has had a greater impact on our IT efficiency than moving to the Scale Computing Platform!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam H. | IT Manager and Network Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2024

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

The Scale Platform is the absolute easiest, most intuitive, and most attractive hypervisor I've ever seen or used. The ability to manage every VM from a browser dashboard is a wonderful experience. Prior to the adoption of the Scale Platform, our servers were spread over 3-4 different pieces of different hardware, all with different interfaces, quirks, and efficiency. Condensing all those different server systems into the neat and clean Scale node cluster not only increased efficiency, but it also improved hardware clutter in the server room. It's not an exaggeration to say that moving to the Scale Platform changed our daily lives here in the land of IT Administrators. Part of my daily routine is to ensure I have a Scale tab open in a browser to have the overview of our systems active during the day. Being able to see a real-time overview of all resources and server performance gives a peace of mind I didn't know I needed before we adopted the Scale Platform.

The interface also makes implementing new servers so easy, it's actually shocking! I've never seen a hypervisor this easy to use. It's really as easy as pressing "+", filling out a few boxes, selecting specs, and done! Absolutely insane! The GUI also grants the interactivity with the life-changing snapshot imaging backup system that is so efficient and helpful that I don't know how any IT Admins survive without it in these days of Microsoft constantly releasing OS breaking updates on the regular.

Lastly, the integration with our technical infrastructure from our old systems was made incredibly easy by the amazing Scale customer support staff. They guided well through the entire process, and I have to say the Scale customer support team is the best support I interact with, period. They are always fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. Plus, they are all US based, which is awesome! Techs can connect directly to our Scale cluster via a built-in support tunnel, which means they can connect within minutes to investigate, review, and help solve any issue. The Scale Computing Platform is, overall, the greatest technical investment we've decided on in the last decade.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

There is a major flaw in the Scale hypervisor that must be addressed. I've actually already had detailed and extensive conversations with Scale management and development regarding this issue in 2023.

It was discovered when trying to improve storage levels by deleting unneeded files throughout our servers that Scale does not have the ability to scan and recover previously occupied storage blocks within Windows partitions. This feature is called "trimming", and it is an existing and included tool in the hypervisor of Scale's competitors. It is difficult to describe how frustrating this is when literally dozens of hours of overtime were/are required to execute an absurd workaround process to recover unused space from all our servers. As previously mentioned, other hypervisors do have trimming tools built-in, so the fact it took me months of complicated and risky work to recover our unused space was infuriating, to say the least. This lack of feature development meant we had terabytes of empty storage space that Scale would not recognize as empty. YES, TERABYTES! I find it rather unfortunate this particular issue exists when Scale Computing enthusiastically tries to sell new hardware with more storage space as a major selling point, both for local Scale Computing clusters and for their Scale Cloud Unity backup service. This is beyond uncool. Someone less observant or diligent than I could have easily overlooked or not resolved such an issue.

To my knowledge and as of this review, Scale has not made me aware of any advancement in the development of this critical feature, and I'm highly disappointed in this.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Scale Computing Platform also resolved our needs for efficient and reliable backup systems, through the snapshot feature and Scale's Cloud Unity backup and recovery service.

 ### 13. Robust, yet easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Owen S. | VP of IT, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2023

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

Setting up new servers is a breeze. Replication to other clusters was also simple to set up. The learning curve is not huge with Scale, and the support is top-notch. Glad we made the move!

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

One thing I don't like, but it isn't hard to do, is that I have to clone a server if I want to change replication partners. Again, it doesn't take long, I'd just like to be able to do it on the fly.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a small IT shop, and complex virtualization systems take too long to learn and administer. Scale saves me time in everything we do in it, to include creating servers, setting up replication, testing snapshot recovery, etc.

 ### 14. Satisfied Scale customer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2024

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

We found the Scale Computing Platform to be very competitive from a cost stand point compared to VMware and other hyperconverged solutions. It was very easy to install and get up and running. The admin portal to intuitive and easy to use without any formal training. Scale support is first class and has always been very helpful.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

The Scale Computing Platform is not as feature rich as other, higher cost hyperconverged solutions but has been adequate for our needs.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scale has simplified our server virtualization platform by elimitating the need to purchase seperate storage and compute stacks.

 ### 15. Easy setup and management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David L. | SVP of IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 13, 2024

**What do you like best about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

My favorite part of the Scale Computing Plaform is the ease of patching. We used to spend weeks planning and gathering updates for VMware/Simplivity. Now we just click an upload button and it takes care of itself. Huge time saver while still staying secure.

**What do you dislike about SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite?**

Some additional features would be nice, such as allowing for a VM boot order.

**What problems is SC// HyperCore Virtualization Suite solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was a less expensive and easier to manage platform than VMware with Simplivity.
It also allwed us to create a replicated site at a different location for BCP reasons.

 ### 16. Solid Technology with Solid Pricing and Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars
