"SAS Viya: Cloud-Native, High-Performance Analytics with Flexible Language Support"
5/5
What do you like best about SAS Viya?

What I like most about SAS Viya is its cloud-native architecture and strong performance. It enables faster data processing through in-memory analytics, supports Python, R, and SQL alongside SAS, and offers convenient access via a web-based interface. Overall, these capabilities make analytics more scalable, collaborative, and flexible than in traditional SAS environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAS Viya?

What I dislike about SAS Viya is its steeper learning curve, particularly for users who are new to cloud environments. Migrating from SAS 9 can be complex, and the administration and licensing costs can be high. In addition, some traditional SAS features behave differently in Viya, which may require adaptation, retraining, and extra time to adjust. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Setup, Excellent Learning Pathways"
3.5/5
What do you like best about SAS Viya?

I use SAS Viya to learn machine learning training with and without code. I appreciate the SAS Viya Learner, which offers workshops, a platform, and datasets to learn and try things simultaneously. I like the simplicity of using the app and the workshops that help me to learn the ideas. The pathways in the workshops are particularly beneficial in guiding me towards my professional goals. Also, setting up the environment was pretty easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAS Viya?

I think starting something new can be tough because you're often biased against learning new things. It happened to me with SAS too, and at first, I questioned why I needed it. Also, I think there should be separate paths for people who are already in this field and those who are new, with different workshops for each group. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SAS Viya: Scalable, In-Memory Analytics with Smooth Python and R Integration"
4.5/5
What do you like best about SAS Viya?

What I appreciate most about SAS Viya is how it brings together data management, advanced analytics, and governance in a single, scalable platform. The in-memory processing really makes a difference when working with large datasets, and the integration with open-source tools like Python and R is much smoother compared to older SAS environments. It also feels much more flexible in terms of deployment (cloud, hybrid), which is important in real-world enterprise setups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAS Viya?

One downside is the relatively high cost, especially for smaller teams. Also, some features can feel complex or less intuitive at first, requiring time and experience to fully leverage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Interactive Dashboards with Real-Time, AI-Powered Insights"
5/5
What do you like best about SAS Viya?

I like how easily it transforms raw data into interactive dashboards and visualizations. It also lets me build interactive dashboards and get AI-powered insights without a complex setup. I especially appreciate that we can create calculated columns and metrics, and that everything can stay up to date with real-time data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAS Viya?

SAS offers comprehensive data preparation capabilities, with a clear focus on handling large volumes of data. I honestly don’t have anything negative to say. Features like chat and AI-powered search make reports easier to understand, and they’re genuinely useful for users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SAS Viya - A powerful and performant tool for analytics and modeling"
5/5
What do you like best about SAS Viya?

SAS Viya is designed to work smoothly with open-source technologies and standards, which makes it easier to integrate into existing systems and workflows. As a result, organizations can continue to leverage their current investments in tools and infrastructure while also taking advantage of SAS Viya’s advanced analytics capabilities.

From an enterprise perspective, it also stands out for secure cloud integration, strong connectivity options, Git integration in SAS Studio, and capabilities that fit modern architecture and DevOps practices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAS Viya?

It’s expensive, so you really need to look at the total cost of ownership (TCO) rather than focusing only on the upfront costs. When you evaluate it that way, make sure you also weigh the value SAS Viya provides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effective Data Analysis, Challenging Setup but Worthwhile"
3.5/5
What do you like best about SAS Viya?

I like that our Kubernetes deployment with SAS Viya makes it easier to address issues without impacting other aspects of the environment. I find ESP valuable due to our scale of time series data, and Intelligent Decisioning has allowed us to enhance alerting logic while increasing reliability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAS Viya?

The out-of-the-box observability tools are sufficient, but we find ourselves needing to do a lot to get basic alerts set up. Some suggested alerts to start with would be great. I hear the initial setup was quite tough. I believe the conversion of SAF ESP models was the real challenge. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"SAS Viya in the Cloud: Dramatic Performance Gains for Long-Running Code"
4.5/5
What do you like best about SAS Viya?

Previously, we were using SAS 9.4 and ran into performance issues. One of the actuaries in our department was especially concerned because their code was taking more than 24 hours to finish. After moving to SAS Viya, that same code now completes in about 3 to 4 hours. Because our environment is hosted in the cloud, we see this as the primary driver behind the performance improvement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAS Viya?

Since the environment is hosted by SAS, whenever we need to create a new user account, we have to submit a request to the SAS team to take care of it. In the same way, we don’t have direct access to storage, which makes it harder to investigate administrative issues or carry out admin-level tasks on our own. Also, because SAS Viya is browser-based, when there’s a network drop it can be difficult to tell whether the problem is on the SAS side or on our network, especially when we’re fetching data from the database. "SAS Viya Review: A Powerful Platform"
4.5/5
What do you like best about SAS Viya?

SAS Viya provides a unified, cloud‑native platform that combines advanced analytics and AI tools with strong flexibility for both coders and non‑technical users. It simplifies data preparation and visualization, integrates smoothly with existing systems, and supports tasks ranging from quick exploration to complex modeling. Its machine learning and governance features ensure enterprise‑level trust and transparency, while fostering accessibility and collaboration across teams. The onboarding process was seamless, and the supportive trainer enhanced the overall experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SAS Viya?

While SAS Viya stands out as a robust analytics platform, it does come with a number of challenges. The cost can be a significant barrier for smaller teams, especially when compared to open-source options. The interface is generally user-friendly, but accessing and mastering advanced features often involves a steep learning curve, particularly for those new to SAS. Although integration with Python and R is available, it can feel unwieldy at times, and the platform's performance may fluctuate depending on the specific cloud environment. Additionally, the documentation sometimes lacks depth for more complex troubleshooting, which can make SAS Viya less suitable for organizations that prioritize flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
