We primarily use SAS Base as our analtyical tool and I found with some basic SQL knowledge that the tool was very easy to learn. The documentation online is extremely useful. The tool is extremely powerful and you are often able to execute complex business questions. with just a few lines of code. The ability to build out macros is great. I find the UI to be outdated and clunky compared with more modern tools. It could be easily improved by allowing the windows to snap or re-arrange automatically. On occasion the log will also cease to update and it is necessary to restart. Additionally the tool is not cheap so migrating to a newer version is often not economically feasible. The learning curve is very very steep, in college an entire class was just about SAS programming.

Though the syntax is close to most programming language it is not super intuitive, the sheer number of macros and functions is very overwhelming.
