The software to manage it is a bit outdated, and I liked the other SQL flavors we have used more. About 20 years ago SQL Anywhere was a king, and since then I feel that they have not brought as much to the table as the other competitors in this field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. When coupling sophisticated queries with user input, performance can get sluggish.It becomes too slow with stored procedures running with user data variables. A better style of working in the departments is also defined thanks to the addition of all the modules. It is possible to keep adding new functions to SAP that is built on SQL. SAP SQL Anywhere has one of the best user friendly interface and above all it is ANSI SQL compliant which adds more power to the database. The user base for SAP SQL anywhere is quite small hence its difficult to find information. What do you dislike about SAP SQL Anywhere? Speed up installation times. A manual installation of SQL server can take up a good chunk of time. You can be forced to go through an installation wizard screen by screen and it can take a lot of time waiting for each screen to load. Allow for easier integration with GUI's. SQL has the capability to use a visual query builder where you can drag and drop fields, tables, etc to build a query but it is not as user friendly as you would imagine.
