Because FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, etc. all live in one consistent data model, you get: End-to-end process visibility – from purchase requisition → goods receipt → invoice → payment → FI/CO postings, everything ties out automatically. Single source of truth – fewer reconciliations and spreadsheets, because logistics and finance are always in sync. Mature, stable platform – it’s battle-tested and very predictable in how it behaves. Powerful customization – via customizing (IMG), user exits, BADIs, and BAPIs you can adapt it to pretty complex real-world processes. **What do you dislike about SAP ECC?** What I dislike most about SAP ECC is how rigid and clunky it can feel in day-to-day use. A few specifics: Old-school UX Lots of transaction codes, non-intuitive screens, and inconsistent layouts. New users are basically forced to “learn SAP” instead of just learning the process. Complex customizing & dependencies Small changes in configuration or master data can have side effects in other modules, so you need deep expertise and lots of testing for even modest tweaks. Limited out-of-the-box reporting Standard reports are often not enough, so you end up relying on custom reports, SQ01 queries, or exporting everything to Excel / BW. Error messages & logs Messages can be cryptic and very technical, which makes troubleshooting slower than it should be. **What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?** SAP ECC is mainly solving our process fragmentation and data consistency problems. Because finance, procurement, sales, and inventory all run in one system, we get: End-to-end visibility across the order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles, so we can track every step and catch issues earlier. Better inventory control, with real-time stock levels and valuation, which reduces stockouts, excess inventory, and manual reconciliations. Stronger financial accuracy and compliance, since postings are automated and integrated, which reduces errors and audit findings. Standardized processes across locations/teams, which cuts down on “local Excel processes” and makes training and support easier. ### 2. It is very difficult to use and is near impossible to self-learn. It takes many months, even years, to become proficient. **Recommendations to others considering SAP ECC:** While SAP is very cross-functional with many programs and is widely accepted in many industries, consider the amount of time and resources needed to develop a team to become SMEs in use, support, troubleshooting and training. **What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am using SAP to edit/revise SOPs in MS Word while embedded in SAP. ### 3. Everything that we were used to doing in just one or two steps - now took numerous steps to complete. The efficiency and productivity actually went down instead of up - despite the promises that were made to us. **Recommendations to others considering SAP ECC:** Please make sure to do proper homework before jumping into things. Make sure to ask people who are currently using the system to find out their pain points and what they like about the system. Don't trust implementation teams without getting a few more opinions. **What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were trying to transfer our entire financial system and current ERP into SAP. ### 5. That’s all. **What do you dislike about SAP ECC?** Heavy, not stable, not user friendly. Design reminds me mid-eighties. I can’t say who define the functionalities but they have nothing in common with the real-life business. If we need to generate a simple sales management report (e.g. sales per account by product group) first you pay fortune to consultants and at the end you get a table that need to be reworked for two hours in order to make it useful. **Recommendations to others considering SAP ECC:** Just don’t. Almost anything else would be better. **What do you dislike about SAP ECC?** All tasks are performed with completely unintuitive codes like MD04. Many of the functions have multiple terms to refer to the same thing. **Recommendations to others considering SAP ECC:** If you're in clinical trials, this is the wrong tool. I can't speak to other uses. **What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?** SAP is the problem. I'm told that the Finance people can pull better metrics from it. How nice for them. ### 7. Hard to carry out a process in a usual way. High learning curve. It is hard to say if an actual UI Designer was eventually engaged to the deployment of the front-end. I have been fortunate enough to have used other ERP systems and this one is the most cumbersome of them all. Unlike the other easy to use ERPs, this one is not. I AM a fan of Oracle's ERP. Regardless of how much you know, you can always navigate through their intuitive menus. **What do you dislike about SAP ECC?** It's not user friendly at all and takes a long time to become even competent. There is absolutely nothing intuitive about SAP. Having to use T-codes to navigate is ridiculous. **Recommendations to others considering SAP ECC:** Do your company a favor and select Oracle! **What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?** Sadly it's the ERP system the company I'm working at has chosen before I arrived. ### 9. Crashes out after having open for an hour plus. Slows down after continual use. Can't delete old items that aren't relevant. However we found it complex, cumbersome and awkward to tailor and administer. I cannot find anything good about it. After wasting five months on implementation and over $60,000 on licensing, we decided to gave up and pull the plug on this nightmare software and support. **What do you dislike about SAP ECC?** Very bad tech support. SAP ERP is NOT ready for the market. A lot of bugs that cannot be resolved. Some of the bugs are unheard off. (e.g. YOU MUST USE SAME PRINTERS ACROSS BOARD!!! OTHERWISE, THE FORMS WILL BE PRINTED DIFFERENT !!!!! ) I cannot see any manufacturing company using same printer in every department and location. How about if we have to replace a printer after a year and this printer model no longer existed? Shall we change all printers and form design to fit the new PRINTERS again???? !!!!!! SAP ERP working backward. **What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?** We need it strong sold ERP software to handle our production operation. DOES SAP ERP HAS BENEFITS??!! Too many checks and balances to meet any immediate demand **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** May 20, 2014 **What do you like best about SAP ECC?** Difficult to say. **What do you dislike about SAP ECC?** it replaced an old version of Oracle, but it required massive changes to our work permit system, inventory names are limited to 40 characters, not searcheable in long descriptions. doesn't fit on the screen, too many checks and balances make it very slow moving to order parts we need immediately, doesn't provide categorical reports, does not notify the requester when a 'shopping cart' becomes a purchase order, unbelievable errors in time keeping meant lawsuits and headaches. **What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you?** again, difficult question. the intention was to unify our many businesses to create one expense reporting system for both purchases and employee time keeping. it has not delivered. ### 15.
