What I like best about SAP ECC is how tightly integrated everything is. Because FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, etc. all live in one consistent data model, you get: End-to-end process visibility – from purchase requisition → goods receipt → invoice → payment → FI/CO postings, everything ties out automatically. Single source of truth – fewer reconciliations and spreadsheets, because logistics and finance are always in sync. Mature, stable platform – it’s battle-tested and very predictable in how it behaves. Powerful customization – via customizing (IMG), user exits, BADIs, and BAPIs you can adapt it to pretty complex real-world processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about SAP ECC? What I dislike most about SAP ECC is how rigid and clunky it can feel in day-to-day use. A few specifics: Old-school UX Lots of transaction codes, non-intuitive screens, and inconsistent layouts. New users are basically forced to “learn SAP” instead of just learning the process. Complex customizing & dependencies Small changes in configuration or master data can have side effects in other modules, so you need deep expertise and lots of testing for even modest tweaks. Limited out-of-the-box reporting Standard reports are often not enough, so you end up relying on custom reports, SQ01 queries, or exporting everything to Excel / BW. Error messages & logs Messages can be cryptic and very technical, which makes troubleshooting slower than it should be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is SAP ECC solving and how is that benefiting you? SAP ECC is mainly solving our process fragmentation and data consistency problems. Because finance, procurement, sales, and inventory all run in one system, we get: End-to-end visibility across the order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles, so we can track every step and catch issues earlier. Better inventory control, with real-time stock levels and valuation, which reduces stockouts, excess inventory, and manual reconciliations. Stronger financial accuracy and compliance, since postings are automated and integrated, which reduces errors and audit findings. The UI is awful, and SAP is the least intuitive tool on the market. It is very difficult to use and is near impossible to self-learn. It takes many months, even years, to become proficient. It is possible that it is only to to the implementation team, but we were unable to get anything to work to our liking. Everything that we were used to doing in just one or two steps - now took numerous steps to complete. I can’t say who define the functionalities but they have nothing in common with the real-life business. If we need to generate a simple sales management report (e.g. sales per account by product group) first you pay fortune to consultants and at the end you get a table that need to be reworked for two hours in order to make it useful. Awful UI, especially on the online version. Not intuitive at all. Hard to carry out a process in a usual way. High learning curve. I'm sorry to say that I really dislike SAP. I have been fortunate enough to have used other ERP systems and this one is the most cumbersome of them all. Unlike the other easy to use ERPs, this one is not. I AM a fan of Oracle's ERP. Regardless of how much you know, you can always navigate through their intuitive menus. It's slow, takes 5 minutes to leave a touchpoint. Crashes out after having open for an hour plus. Slows down after continual use. Can't delete old items that aren't relevant.
