High-Performance Data Processing with CDS What I appreciate most about SAP S/4HANA Cloud is the architectural shift toward Code Pushdown. In my experience handling large-scale data integrations—sometimes involving tens of thousands of rows—the ability to use Core Data Services (CDS) is a game changer. Instead of the application server doing the heavy lifting, we can push complex logic and aggregations directly to the HANA database. This significantly reduces the risk of runtime errors and performance bottlenecks that were common in legacy environments. 2. Stability through the "Clean Core" Strategy I value the 'Clean Core' philosophy enforced by the cloud model. Using Developer Extensibility (ABAP Cloud), we build custom logic that is decoupled from the SAP standard. For someone who has spent a lot of time debugging production dumps caused by master data conflicts or field catalog mismatches, this stability is invaluable. It ensures that system upgrades don't break our custom tools, allowing us to spend less time on maintenance and more on innovation. 3. Losing direct database access and familiar commands means spending extra time finding "Released APIs" for tasks that were previously simple, which can slow down urgent technical fixes. 2. API Gaps You are dependent on SAP to release the specific objects you need. If a standard API doesn't support a niche field—like those required for complex data summation or specific plant logic—it forces you into over-engineered workarounds. 3. Architecture Overhead Moving custom logic to BTP (side-by-side) adds complexity.
