It is flexible and sometimes surprises the user with its capabilities (machine learning, of course). But it cannot fully replace an accountant matching (or at least monitoring) A/R-to-bank matching. Freeform text (e.g. transaction descriptions) is processed well - but not great; I saw it miss reference numbers (that would have allowed perfect matching, of course - if those were recognized)... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is SAP Cash Application solving and how is that benefiting you? Automation of A/R and bank matching, some A/P reconciliation (90% is A/R). We were able to speed up the process (by around 20%), increase productivity (2 FTEs now do the work 3 were doing previously) and the number of A/R transaction errors, payment misapplications etc. decreased from 1 in 1000 (roughly) to 1 in 5000 or even better. I had used this application at a previous company and enjoyed the capabilities it did provide including automatic posting and matching of cash and enhancing the complete accounts receivable process for our company. As with most SAP items, I still feel like they lag behind on the actual view or user interface of their software. Clearing the payments manually is very hard and time-consuming. It helps us to reduce time while we are doing month-end closing. Also, if you are familiar with SAP tools, it is easy to get used to. Month-end closing has tight deadlines, and since the company is managing lots of cash, it is hard to do it manually without errors.
