"Easy, quick, and bundled!"

What do you like best about Sanity?

The admin studio was insanely easy to spin up. From the onset, I was able to create different datasets that flow seamlessly to my front end, and now that it's set up, I can continue to add things and never need to do anything more to update the code.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

Nothing! Sanity is actually the best I've used. I tried Contentful, but their pricing is egregious. I tried Payload, but their docs are confusing. Sanity is the best.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

It gives us a simple, free headless CM/S to use. As a movie studio, we are constantly adding content such as new films, actors, and blog posts to our site. Sanity makes it easy to manage.

"Bye Contentful. New Fave Headless CMS"

What do you like best about Sanity?

- Flexibility and integration with NextJs

- Super easy to get up and running

- Templates give you crazy cool features like live preview out of the box

- Can self host and completely customize the studio

What do you dislike about Sanity?

- GROQ's syntax still isn't my fave, though GraphQL support is there, wish it was supported equally

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Having a headless CMS that provides a CMS-like experience while still supporting single page apps/frameworks like React/NextJs

"Content Management Made Easy"

What do you like best about Sanity?

Sanity.io stands out as a platform that not only meets but exceeds expectations. The structured content model, combined with the ability to adapt the system to my needs, has truly elevated the way I approach and execute projects. Sanity.io has proven to be the innovative and flexible solution I was looking for, making my transition from Contentful a decision I confidently stand by.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

One area where Sanity.io falls short is in its support system. Faster response times would greatly enhance the user experience, providing quicker solutions to issues and improving overall satisfaction with the platform.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Sanity solves content management challenges with its flexible schema and version control integration, offering a developer-friendly environment. The platform's use of the GROQ query language, while initially requiring learning, provides powerful data manipulation capabilities. With an intuitive interface and support for community plugins, Sanity streamlines content creation and enhances extensibility, making it a versatile and adaptive solution for modern development workflows.

"Sanity as the modern CMS"

What do you like best about Sanity?

I used sanity at work as a CMS for one of the e-commerce projects and also for my personal projects. I loved how I could structure the data according to the project needs and also it was pretty easy to implement and integrate. Besides that, the real-time collaboration feature stood out, allowing me to monitor live changes to data and contributors. I will always go with sanity first if I need a CMS for my projects

What do you dislike about Sanity?

GROQ, the query language used by Sanity, can be complex initially. Also, Sanity does not provide different environments, such as production and staging, which can lead to issues, potentially resulting in unintended alterations to production datasets.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

At work, we required a CMS for a significant e-commerce website and were in the process of deciding between Contentful and Sanity. We went with Sanity and was a good decision we made.

We successfully added all our products into Sanity, tailoring their structure precisely to our requirements by defining their schema. Additionally, utilizing GROQ for data retrieval proved immensely beneficial, enabling efficient filtering and sorting of the data response.

It has made the website fast and easy for our clients to add their products on Sanity.

"A great substitute for the Contentful CMS"

What do you like best about Sanity?

After switching from Contentful to Sanity.io, I can confidently say that the move was a game-changer. The key differentiator? Sanity.io's unparalleled schema flexibility.

Sanity.io's intuitive interface and customizable content models allowed me to effortlessly adapt the system to my specific needs. The platform's structured content model not only streamlined content creation but also provided the flexibility to build dynamic applications with interconnected data – a level of versatility that Contentful couldn't match.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

One downside of Sanity.io is that the documentation could benefit from more extensive schema examples to further assist users in mastering the platform's flexibility.

Also, it's not really a downside. GROQ query is something you need to learn to query Sanity data. If they used something already existing on the market for fetching data, it would be easier for the newcomers to onboard.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Decopling data from the webapp logic, while making it easy to modify data.

"The Headless CMS You've been looking for"

What do you like best about Sanity?

As a developer, I don't want to use anything else. Sanity has the best DX in the business, and it's not close. It can handle both modeling and presenting data in any way you like. They are definitely pushing the boundary of what headless CMS's are capable of, continuing to innovate, and continuing to improve an already excellent product.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

I wish that they offered an organization / user based license for outside developers so that we could pay for our access instead of requiring each client to pay for a seat. Otherwise, the product is as near-as-makes-no-difference to perfect as anything I've ever used in this space.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

The ability to define content architecture in code saves me a considerable amount of time. A clean and refined editorial experience also reduces the training and support that we have to do.

"Sanity is my love affair"

What do you like best about Sanity?

Sanity took my new business website (www.justincaseestates.com) from zero to launch.

As a new capital-sensitive startup, I particularly valued the ability to get started building with Sanity for free on a package that (IMHO) outperforms what you get from similar starter tranches at contentful. Sanity also has a pretty decent knowledge base / documentation on its website, and the company also runs a slack channel for Sanity community members.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

Sanity offers starter packages to help jumpstart different blogs, eCommerce, and other websites. While better than nothing, those starter packages are pretty bare-bones. Fortunately, I had the help of a great development agency to quickly build out the different components I needed to build a scalable website.

Recommendations to others considering Sanity:

Three things motivated me to try Sanity: (1) the recommendation of my development team agency, (2) positive reviews from people in my network using Sanity as CMS to support $50MM+ businesses, and (3) the ability to get started for free.

If you're considering Sanity, I encourage you to just go for it.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Sanity is the CMS for our website, and we also plan to use it for our web application launching later this year.

For the website, my team got the right building blocks in place in the span of a few short weeks. Since then, we've been able to get even our non-developer laypeople churning out content and new pages with ease.

"Sanity is a delightful experience for everyone who touches it, from developers (myself) to the user."

What do you like best about Sanity?

The Studio! Version controlling schema is never accessible, but Sanity has made it a seamless experience. It's a fast, easy to use application.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

Sanity could tie GraphQL deployments into the Studio flow better. Also, there should be a better multi-developer experience since datasets are maxed at 6, so a dataset per developer isn't always viable. Multiple developers working on a single dataset often cause conflicts.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

Being able to release code and schema at the same time. Using Contentful in the past revealed how much of a pain it can be to manually move content models around.

"Finally a CMS that builds around you - not a CMS that you have to build around."

What do you like best about Sanity?

The sheer customization and flexibility. Every CMS I've used before - Prismic, Contentful, Wordpress - to name a few, requires me to structure my data in the way that their CMS wants it to be structured. This can be quite limiting. Sanity comes out of the gate as a CMS as a Node package that is fully customizable end-to-end without having to deal with restructuring my data or changing our conventions that ultimately impact our content managers and time to ship products. Sanity provides an infinite product for us to fully tailor our content management experiences and focus on empowering those editors and of course, for developers, to work in an incredibly convenient way. You can build Sanity locally and deploy multiple instances of the CMS across any servers you wish - or use their free .studio.io domains. Incredibly convenient.

Not to mention a fully fledged image pipeline so you don't have to do any crazy image mutations on your own - they provide a robust API for all of that.

And, because it's in Javascript, if you're working with any other API's (such as the one on your product), you can integrate it easily with managing and using that data as well because of Sanity's extremely flexible and customizable desk & dashboard structures.

Sanity was the answer to years of trial and error on various CMS systems, and truly comes out on top when it comes to speed of development, rich content editing experiences, developer experience, and flexibility. That's a win-win all around. I haven't had to worry about "what CMS am I going to use" for about two years now. Couldn't be more grateful to their team and my luck in finding it.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

Not being able to fully integrate into my frontend's types when using Typescript. Sanity is very Typescript friendly, but it would be very nice to set Sanity up inside of my Next.js environment so I can use the same folders and utilities instead of having it in a separate /studio folder.

I also think their docs on customizing some form fields and showing more examples could be improved quite a bit.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

I've spent 7 years running a creative agency that in the latter 4 years of it shifted quite heavily into web development for small (3-10) to large (30-100) sized companies. We know that everybody has their preference of CMS, but when we are able to deliver a more clear (better UX), faster to market, and fully tailored CMS for any of our frontend languages (primarily Next.js and occasionally Gatsby) - we know that we can sell them quickly on the value of Sanity.

In recent months I exited my business and will be starting as Head of Design with a medium-sized start up with intentions of high growth, and I immediately know what CMS will be our base of command to create tools for the marketing team without impacting our engineering resources as heavy as we would with writing something from scratch.

To summarize:

- Developer experience

- Faster to market

- Concise UX (It's literally bare bones, it doesn't get simpler)

- Fully tailored content editor experiences

- No restrictions - you make the call on your data structure

- Integration into external APIs

- Image pipeline

- Typescript support

- CMS as a Node package - run it locally & integrate into your CI & more

- Easily migratable from other CMS's such as Wordpress, Contentful, or Prismic

- Support for eCommerce

"Critical to how my agency does business"

What do you like best about Sanity?

The DX, the tooling is really powerful and well maintained. It is also well supported through docs and slack.

What do you dislike about Sanity?

Maybe a bit more variety to the layout and theme of the CMS would be cool, but a lot of it is configurable if you choose to do so yourself.

Recommendations to others considering Sanity:

Use it, i've tried Prismic, Netlify CMS, Contentful and this is vastly superior.

What problems is Sanity solving and how is that benefiting you?

I run a digital agency — Sanity is core to our website offering. We use it to model customer data, websites, customer journeys. It is almost self-documenting
