## Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate Reviews
  ### 1. Reliable Construction Accounting and Job Cost Management Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jessica G. | Vice President and Chief Financial Officer , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

We have been using Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate for several years and it has become the backbone of our accounting and job cost management process.

One of the biggest strengths of Sage 300 is its job costing capabilities. As a general contractor, having the ability to track costs, commitments, contracts, change orders, payroll, and billing all within one system gives us a clear picture of project performance. The reporting is detailed and customizable, which helps us make informed decisions and keep a close eye on budgets.

I also appreciate the flexibility of the software. While there is definitely a learning curve, Sage can be tailored to fit the way your company operates. The integration between accounting, project management, payroll, equipment, and job cost modules helps eliminate duplicate data entry and improves accuracy.

Customer support and the user community have also been valuable resources when troubleshooting issues or learning new processes.

Sage 300 is not the most modern-looking software on the market, and new users should expect to invest time in training. However, once you understand the system, it is incredibly powerful and reliable. For construction companies that need strong financial controls, detailed job costing, and robust reporting, Sage 300 remains an excellent solution.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

While Sage 300 is a powerful system, some troubleshooting and complex processes can require a lot of research and workarounds to find a solution. The cost of subscriptions and annual renewals continues to increase, which can be frustrating. Customer support is generally helpful, but it can sometimes take a while to connect with a technician when urgent issues arise.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sage 300 serves as our primary accounting and project management platform, allowing us to manage job costs, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, contracts, and project financials in one system. It provides real-time visibility into project performance, helps us track budgets and costs accurately, and gives our team the reporting tools needed to make informed business decisions. Having all of our financial and project information centralized improves efficiency, accountability, and overall project management.

  ### 2. Sage 300 CRE

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristie M. | Office Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I jumped into this industry with no background using accounting software and had to learn Sage 300 very quickly. We were able to connect with a consultant through Ethos, and she has helped me learn the software, as well as learn to use the software intuitively. We also use Quick Books for another business we have, and I prefer Sage 300 CRE over Quick Books. It has a vast range of capabilities which we use on a daily basis.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

My biggest complaint is: if you need assistance with anything in the program, the Sage representatives do not know what they are talking about when they try to help you. Sending articles that you can look up on the internet isn't really helping.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Sage 300 CRE for all our AR, AP, Payroll, and tax services.

  ### 3. Construction business at its smartest!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gerardo David D. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The way to manage Accounting in construction business is great. ERP with Procore is really good!

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I would love to improve the GUI. Sometimes it feels like some 2000's software

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ERP with Project Management tool like Procore. Procore has been the best solution to track everything related to projects, even the smallest details.

  ### 4. Great full featured software but...

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff W. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Sage 300 has been around for many years. It has all of the features most contractors would need and them some

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Sage 300 is on-premise ERP software. Today's world is cloud centric. Sage 300 has not kept up with the times. There has not been a major update to the database technology or user interface in many years. With Sage's acquisition of Intacct this is unlikely to change.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We typically have over 300 open jobs at one time. They are not large jobs, many are less than a week in duration. Sage handles the billing for these jobs with ease. It integrates with Procore, ToolWatch and other ancillary products that we use. It handles cmplex union payroll reporting.

  ### 5. Outdated but functional

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John M. | Controller, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

It's functional and the financial reporting is accurate and fairly easy to customize once you're familiar with the report building tool.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Super outdated, there is not much in the ways of updated and support and its difficult to integrate 3rd party software. Many reports and tasks have strange names and are difficult to navigate. Assigning permissions as an administrator is complicated.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's tracking our job cost and providing a platform to process A/P and Payroll. We do minimal financial reporting inside the software, but use the reports to build reports outside the software.

  ### 6. Not the easiest to catch on to, but useful once you do

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dan C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Great system for commercial real estate tracking

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Certain tasks are difficult to "undo" if needed and can cause a lot of time consuming issues, even with something so simple as entering a wrong date

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Property management for commercial entities

  ### 7. Sage can be user friendly at times

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cecelia R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Entering payroll is quiet simple in Sage.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The view for checks is not good, you can only view a small part of the check .

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solves the issues of payroll and reports for month end

  ### 8. Great accounting software for construction finance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sean O. | Accountant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

This is a great product for construction accounting. Easy to use and has all the features you need. Works well with add ons.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Sometimes it's hard to find what you need but the software has it.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working with contractors and receiving their billing was made easy with this software

  ### 9. Hope you don't want easy to use reports

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Commercial Real Estate | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The software can handle numerous companies under the same umbrella.
The software can handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, and rent rolls for a large real estate portfolio.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The reporting is horrendous. The program's reports are very limited and difficult / impossible to change. The reports are only designed to be printed or converted to PDFs. they are NOT designed to be converted to excel, so if you need any reports in excel you have to do significant manipulation EVERY time you export to excel. They are also very inconsistent, making a standard manipulation or macro obsolete.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate is our accounting system for our real estate business.

  ### 10. Great Software to Manage Construction Accounting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Megan D. | Project Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

SAGE keeps all of our account, payroll, etc. in one place. We are able to upload invoices, send them to project managers for approval, and keep the entire process seamless.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Our version of Sage 300 is very outdated. We need to upgrade; however, it would be nice if SAGE continued providing updates to the outdated versions, as the upgrades are very expensive.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SAGE helping to solve the duplication of data entry; with ERP integrations to our other software. We are able to input timecards and commitments into our Project Management software and SAGE allows the integration so the data is in both places.

  ### 11. Lackluster accounting platform

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff P. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I like the fact that I can use the ODBC database link in Excel to pull the data and use it properly.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

It is very clunky and not very intuitive. Tutorials are very limited. We have to call an expert everytime we want to do something.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's accurate and has full functionality. It is significantly better then simple systems like QuickBooks.

  ### 12. It's powerful but sometimes it behaves like it was programmed in the 90s and left it like that

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2023

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I liked that hey included access to sage U online and there was a lot of training videos there. So i was able to go in and get my certification and a lot of useful information

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

It seems like it was programmed in the 90s and haven't had any updates since. For example, if I have to enter a schedule SOV, I need to enter them one by one; I can't bulk-add them. It doesn't even add the line item number automatically. I have to manually add the line item number for each one. No other software that I know of does this.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it for creating prime contracts and subcontracts that are later synced with procore, and through procore we send invoices and even pay apps. There are a lot of other things that we do on it that I am not in contact with because I am not an accountant

  ### 13. Same interface - still clunky to new users.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Audrey M. | Project Administrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

In the use of Sage 300 as our contracts and accounting software it is incredibly useful to every member on our team.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

It is incredibly hard to train someone on the platform if they have no base for how it works. The use of different moduals and reports is hard to teach people in a timely fashion.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is our sole accounting software that allows integration with Procore for project management and GCPay for subcontractor billing.

  ### 14. Efficient, All in One Solution!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex K. | IT Support Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I like that the software can serve all the varying departments within our organization. It's also great that we're able to lean on the assistance of Sage Support for whatever issues we may encounter.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I dislike that it's essentially non-functional on screen resolutions higher than full HD (1080).

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a crucial software solution that we depend on for business continuity, such as Accounting, Production, Purchasing, etc.

  ### 15. Integrates with several softwares but is a bit old school.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa M. | Office Admin, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I really enjoy that Sage 300 integraes with a lot of our project softwares like Procore, and RedTeam. It can also generate any type of report you may need from Job cost, or general ledger.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

One thing i dislike about Sage is the fact that it's a tad old school looking. The AP invoice entry and the Commitment entry can use a revamp. It's not very user friendly at the beginning.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At this moment we don't have any specific we've asked of Sage 300. We are using more of our other softwares as the day to day and Sage 300 as a center location for all jobcost.

  ### 16. High value for cost.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel L. | Head of Sales Department, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

- Intuitive interface
- Easy upgrades
- Simple user interface.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

- Lack of validation
- Limited report configuration without significant customization
- Too many arbitrary limits like vendor name that forced partial names into the address

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Cost projections
- Account payable
- Payroll
- Bank reconciliation.
- Cheque processing.

  ### 17. Outdated but still works

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon B. | Assistant Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

it easily allows us to track costs in our company

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

the user interface is very outdated and it normally takes forever to connect to their server

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it is used for keeping track of our finances

  ### 18. Sage user of 11+ Years

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Donna T. | Senior Project Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The fact that it integrates with our PM cloud-based program, Procore. It helps to streamline our financial reports with our project progress.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The worst part about Sage300 is that it is antiquated and slow when attempting to pull up on desktop.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The link between financials and our project management program allows transparency between our PM team and our Accounting team.

  ### 19. No better option for Construction and Real Estate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gerardo D. | IT Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The smooth integration with Procore makes life easier. It works like Magic via HH2 integration Services

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

It's a little bit complicated to get used to it. The user Interface is not 100% friendly, but once you learn you don't take care much about it

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All related to Prime Contracts and Commitments. This is the most important problem Sage helped me to resolve

  ### 20. The best Construction Software available!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lynne P. | CFO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2021

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Sage allows construction companies of all sizes to effectively manage, track and evaluate the progress of any job. Through a series of modules that integrate and update in real-time, redundant entries are a thing of the past. Information is readily available to appropriate users while providing security from unauthorized access. Project Managers know exactly where their jobs are at, Financial Managers know exactly where their cash is at, Owners know exactly where their company is at - all in real-time with real data.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

After using a number of other software packages "designed" for Construction, I can honestly say there is nothing I do not like about Sage. It is the most comprehensive package available.

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

Take the time to talk to someone that has used Sage 300 for at least a year - new users are always partial to what they previously used, and they will not give you an unbiased review. Once someone has used Sage for a whole year, they will appreciate everything that Sage does and how much better it does it all!

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Once a job is set up correctly, anyone with access to the system can run reports that provide real-time data. No longer does someone in accounting need to stop what they are doing to provide information to a PM, Owner, or even one of the guys out in the field. Employees set up with view-only access can "look but not touch". The integrity of the data is preserved, but they can all access the information they need as they need it. Combined this frees up accounting staff time, provides job staff with up current detail and facilitates better job results and more profit!

  ### 21. Exploring Sage300

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick S. | Controller, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Sage300 is user friendly and offers many core competencies to ensure a successful accounting cycle

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Sage300 does not easily export to Excel for many of the financial reports. It prefers to spool in PDFs

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sage300 allows for segregation of duties so internal controls are sound. This helps our accounting dept maintain integrity and prepare our team for annual audits.

  ### 22. Streamlined our property management organization

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2021

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate has simplified our property management and accounting functions. We utilize the lease reports and A/P-A/R functions on a daily basis.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The only feature I would like to see improved is the layout of the reports. When you try to convert the reports to Excel all of the columns and rows are merged or across multiple lines.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are now able to stay on top of our leases for all properties. Additionally, we are able to have an at a glance view of properties who have charges coming due or past due. We benefit greatly from running GL reports.

  ### 23. Sage 300 is ok

Estimating is the only tool i use regularly but it works good for estimates.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Integration with procore is bulky and cumbersome and sometimes doesn't work

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Estimating accurately is helpful during bidding.

  ### 24. great estimating product

  ### 26. Sage Review by Mike

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike M. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The ability to create Change order from individual Change Proposals

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The same format does not remain when you enter the same window for a different entry

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

Need to get more user friendly and better customer support

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowed checks and balances to make sure all amounts are correct and there is not double billing or payments made

  ### 27. Not user friendly

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The fact that I have used this software for 20 plus years, shows that I am very familiar with it but I still do not like it as it is not user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

It is hard to get the information that you need out of it and the modules do not like to interact with one another. It has come a long way in the past 20 years but I have used other programs that are much more friendly to use.

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

Make sure that Sage will fulfill the needs for your specific industry. For example, will it produce the reports you need without a lot of hassle? Their normal templates are very generic. Also, it will be a benefit if the accounts receivables module is purchased. If you use the job cost module to do all of the things for accounts receivables, it is a lot more difficult to learn how to keep up with what you need an produce the reports needed. It can be done, we do it, but it is not the best solution.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is the accounting system that our company uses so that is what I use. It doesn't solve any of our problems, it just "is what it is" and we work around what we need with excel spreadsheets with info we have gathered from Sage.
It has come a long way since the 1990's, but it still is not user friendly.

  ### 28. Complete Construction Accounting Software but difficult to use.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2020

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

It is a comprehensive accounting software with the right modules can stand by itself for an expensive maintenance fee. Their integration with ProCore did eliminate some of our double entry.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Difficult to use, it is not a software where you can log on and jump in to help. The yearly maintenance costs are fairly high as well.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Accurate accounting for many years and many years to come.

  ### 29. A Refurb is needed

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Ease of Administration and integration with third party applications.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Purchase Order module security still separate from main security, no canned security reports, reliance on Action/Pervasive SQL engine, NO pure cloud option.

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

Sage is a very large company that owns many applications. We use a few of them but they do not have a clear strategy on a pure cloud-based product and standardization of Crystal Reports versions across their product lines.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Project Management, Accounting, Seamless 1099 generation, transmissions through 3rd party email applications like Outlook.

  ### 30. I love the product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eugene H. | Construction Management Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

What I like best about this administration is that the client experience setup which fits in with that of the wary client. There are numerous shields incorporated with this product all encompassing the activity of information passage. For instance, it is hard to finish off of the underlying begin screen on Sage 300 while altering receivable or passages which spares you from eradicating unsaved work. The client and seller list by sequential order and passage request likewise help to combine surveys of equalizations amid month to month bookkeeping cycles.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

There is nothing that I dislike about this product.

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

I prescribe that you utilize this for upkeep on yearly and month to month administrations on the off chance that you are a little organization following insignificant expenses. This methodology is bolstered for arranging organizations and organizations of the like too. Utilize the bookkeeping shields too that are discovered the equalization correlation toward the finish of sections.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am tackling reprobate installment issues live amid telephone calls by alluding to client adjusts in records receivable on Sage and I am additionally representing our very own obligations to sellers when our budgetary chairman is away. In the event that you are inexperienced with bookkeeping, this is an extraordinary stage to begin on.

  ### 31. Great For Accounts Payable and Receivable Quick Reference

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian R. | Intern, Research, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

What I like best about this service is that the user experience setup which conforms to that of the cautious user. There are many safeguards built into this software all surrounding the action of data entry. For example, it is difficult to close out of the initial start screen on Sage 300 while adjusting receivable or entries which saves you from erasing unsaved work. The customer and vendor list by alphabetization and entry order also help to consolidate reviews of balances during monthly accounting cycles.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I dislike the receivables entry format which causes excessive tabbing over and tough maneuvering when backtracking through mistakes. Overall the color coding and font of this program should also be reformatted for a more modern look. It gets quiet dulling to stare at the same display for an hour or more hen entering in long amounts of expenses.

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

I recommend that you use this for upkeep on annual and monthly services if you are a small company tracking minimal costs. This approach is supported for landscaping companies and businesses of the like as well. Make use of the accounting safeguards too that are found the balance comparison at the end of entries.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving delinquent payment issues live during phone calls by referring to customer balances in accounts receivable on Sage and I am also accounting for our own debts to vendors when our budgetary administrator is away. If you are not familiar with accounting, this is a great platform to start on.

  ### 32. If there’s something better let someone know!

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kassandra A. | Operations Business Admin, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I like best how detailed sage is, you can run so many reports with a large amount of filters to add. You’re able to operate more than one department off of sage depending on the type of business you are in.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I dislike that Sage often has glitches and freezing problems. If you run too many windows at once it will stop responding and you are left to force close the entire apploxation.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

work orders and commitments are tracked even after a project is complete.

  ### 33. Sage 300

**Reviewed Date:** February 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Good interface for typing reports and RFIso

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

It’s clunky to manage projects with a large number of RFIs and site reports, ultimately requires additional software (Google Drive) to actually manage a project

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing construction projects

  ### 34. Sage 300 for Construction-Formerly Timberline

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tami S. | Consultant/Accounting System Implementations/Accounting, Bookkeeping Support/System and Process, Civil Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

What I like best about this program is it's ability to track accounting by project and by phase.
The expenses are easily set up and utilized as well as the balance sheet.
 Data entry is easily accomplished.
The reporting module is excellent as well.
Training is minimal cost to business owners and the annual updates work extremely well.
I also utilized the payroll module with time which works very well and have had no issues over the years.
The time tracking is excellent along with the budgets and alerts, tracking specific scopes of work to enable better estimating is something I found extremely useful.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I have no dislikes with this program. As I am not currently using this program I am not familiar with revisions in the past year.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Benefits this program offers are separate budgets, alerts, tracking of percent complete etc.
This program is very helpful once you learn all of its options.
I suggest this program to small contractors and design build firms as well as engineering firms here in Maine.
A consistent problem with engineering firms is staff members applying their time to the correct scope of work for a given time period. The allow/not allow feature of time entry to specific scopes allows the project manager tracking of entry errors or any overlaps in time and changes can be made at the time, prior to submission of time, this reduces revisions to invoicing at the end of each period.

  ### 35. Favorite Accounting Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Loren C. | Accounting Assistant, Accounting, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Sage is an excellent way to track expenses and revenue for construction. I am able to track construction costs in detail. There are many tools to maintain retainage for each subcontractor and track which retainage has been paid and what exactly has not been paid by simple glance or reports as needed. I can also have pending invoices versus released and posted invoices, which makes life easier at the end of each month tracking down what I do not have approved from each employee.

Another great feature is the insurance tracking through sage. I can accurately track what COIs I don't have from subcontractors, or what will be soon expiring.

**My current company uses QuickBooks, but they have many construction projects open, and I would like to see them consider sage, as I find many issues with QuickBooks where sage has no issues. It is important to track in detail construction projects so that we can accurately quote our customers and maintain profit versus inaccurate quotes. Several times since starting with my current company, I have run into an issue of a COI being expired, or a project costing more than expected, which resulted in having to pay out of pocket or explain the issue to the customer.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The only thing I dislike, is that it is difficult to run certain reports and is not the most user friendly program at times. Also, I often experience crashing.

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

If you are considering SAGE, consider always learning the ins and outs of the software. Do not give up when you are unsure of a certain report or process. Google was my best friend and when I could not understand, I picked up the phone and called support. I believe SAGE is the perfect construction software and I currently wish my company would consider switching over.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had a huge problem keeping track of COI expirations using QuickBooks and sage has alleviated this issue at my previous company. At my current company, I see this issue and have presented SAGE as a future consideration.

  ### 36. Not very user friendly

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kate R. | Job Cost Accountant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I'm really not a fan of this software at all. The only thing I really like is the ability to query the data from sage and create charts and tables of that in excel.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I don't like the way it looks. I don't like how every task is separated in such a way that you don't flow from one step to the next - if you have a huge company with a different person responsible for every single step then this would make sense- otherwise it's very bad setup.

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

I would seriously consider other options first before going with this.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The software helps keep the different tasks organized. The benefits of this would be more so for companies where management restricts access to employees or want to restrict what data can be entered.

  ### 37. Missing Basic Features that Complicate Life

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2018

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

I do like that this software has everything included within it.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

So many things have to be done manually. There is no spell checking, the formatting of the forms is very odd and it takes a lot to get it fixed. When creating Purchase Orders, it is very unfriendly. You cannot copy lines, delete lines, insert lines, etc.

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

This software has a ton of components and you do have the ability to do many things. I think the biggest issue is that this software lacks common sense. Like building a house without outlets. You have all your components inside of it, but you miss something basic to help you do your day to day tasks.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using this as an all inclusive Accounting and Project Management software. We have the Estimating ability but have not released it for use yet.

  ### 38. Sage 300 is great for managing costs on construction projects

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Whitney K. | Cost Estimator, Construction, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2017

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Many useful add on softwares with great functionality. Very user friendly and customizable to meet your business needs.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

A bit complex to get set up, but most software will present this issue. Overall not many cons with this software.

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

Overall we have been using Sage (formerly Timberline - we still call it that) since 2008. Very happy with this product.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The integration- My project managers can estimate a project and we can track the job costs and accounting in the same software.
Accounts Receivable reports still need work. You can run 3 different reports and get 3 different answers.

  ### 39. Sr. Estimator

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

Sometimes it is difficult to log on if the updates are not installed

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

Works well with all staff who are controlling costs

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeps track of job costs and allows the office and field superintendents track spending and see where issues are depending on certain situations

  ### 40. Requires many Add-ons

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2017

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The software is relatively simple to navigate and fields that pre-populate are helpful.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

The system is very inflexible. There are many ways to reflect cost, value projects and manage processes, however Sage is very restricting.

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

Evaluate all of your options. Too many companies use Sage because “everyone else does”.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has not really solved any problems. Sage requires add-ons or Apps to get functionality improvements.

  ### 41. Designed for a small office

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2017

**What do you like best about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Easy to write reports and locate information.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

There does not seem to be much flexibility built in to the software. Also, it does not seem set up for a company that must follow SOX. It may be our setup that limits these features.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Financial reporting, A/P, A/R, Payroll

  ### 42. Industry Standard ERP for Construction

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

Has detailed Job Cost control functions which are not available in competing products.

**What do you dislike about Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate?**

Currently leverages a file based database which is problematic for data integrations. Does not support multiple currencies.

**Recommendations to others considering Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate:**

Check out companion applications and third-party enhancements from HH2 and Anterra.

**What problems is Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Real-time access to data for construction operations, payroll, accounting and finance.
