Recommendations to others considering safepass.me:

Simple as you can get with such extraordinary elevation of your password strength. Leveraging replication, you can update the custom wordlist on one of your domain controllers and it replicates to the others with ease. Great tool to add to your security auditing arsenal. What problems is safepass.me solving and how is that benefiting you?

1) Alleviate our potential usage of compromised passwords and identify those users. This aspect showed a few of our VPs were on the list and on the day we installed and reviewed the solution. We reached out to our VPs and was informed that one of our VP's LinkedIn account was compromised. This helped expose his issue and the others on the list. Exceptional alone just for this feature.

2) Provide a level to show if passwords are shared across the environment and identify the users.

3) Allow customization of words we want the users to avoid like old "standard" passwords given out to new users that they never changed when initially hired. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great software, easy to setup, easy to use, great peace of mind."

What do you like best about safepass.me?

The software was really easy to install and get configured in Active Directory. Had a tech on the call and it only took a few minutes for the whole thing. We did run some tests first of course! I threw a good amount of passwords at it to see what it would and would not accept. And it passed with flying colors.

The best part of this software over others, is that the checks remain in house. Some may be more comfortable with allowing hashes to be sent offsite and check, but to me it is not very logical to allow that. If your AD is in Azure or you use a cloud solution, I still believe the safest route is to keep the checks in your environment and not to send it out to get processed by someone else's servers. Sending out presents additional risk, even if (big IF) it is small risk. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about safepass.me?

The only thing I can think of that could be better is if they made a quick link to the word list file. However that is getting "nit picky", which should speak volumes about how much I like the software! I quickly created my owned desktop shortcut.

You might just forget you have this software, because it truly is a set and forget!

Lastly, they didn't have this when we implemented, but they now have Pwncheck. You should invest in that software so no one slips through the cracks! We had a few, and got pinned on a security check! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is safepass.me solving and how is that benefiting you?

All users have now set passwords that we know are not in any compromised data sets. I like looking through the logs occasionally and I still see people attempting to use passwords that are already compromised! The worst part of SafePass is that it doesn't tell the end-user the password complexity requirements! We had one end-user that kept entering passwords that appeared to be secure; however, the password didn't contain a letter or something of the other, and the IT department definitely heard from both management and the end-user that "efficiency was impacted". "Simple and Painless Security"

What do you like best about safepass.me?

safepass.me is just so easy to use; it's as simple as installing it on your DCs and then customizing the password list to fit the needs of your company. It's great to see poor or compromised passwords failing and it's nice to not have to worry about it anymore! Anytime I had any questions support was always an absolute pleasure to talk to.

We use this in a hybrid environment with Azure AD and it works flawlessly. I haven't experienced any issues whatsoever. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"It just works!"

What do you like best about safepass.me?

I am reviewing the Professional version:

When we talk about adding third-party add-ons and extensions to Active Directory we almost always think of complex systems with long how-to's and we have to do things precisely step by step to avoid breaking the heart of the company irreparably.

All of these don't exist with SafePass.me, because it simply works out-of-the-box with very little or no configuration needed.

The code is minimal to reduce the attack surface as much as possible. Remember that the more software we add, the more vulnerable we are, so SafePass.me comes without a graphical interface and without a control console. Set & forget.

It also works perfectly in a hybrid environment with Office 365 and Azure AD with Password Writeback: users can change their password from 365 and automatically comply with the SafePass.me policy.

Reporting takes place through Windows Events and it is possible to view reports of password changes, for example if a user complains that he cannot change his password you can inform him that he is trying to create a vulnerable password, or a password containing words in blacklist. What do you dislike about safepass.me?

The main reason why I adopted this software is the need to prevent users from internally reusing the same passwords stolen from other sites in the past.

It was essential for me to be able to make sure that my company was not subjected to a breach due to nonsense such as the reuse of stolen passwords

After the first installation I checked with Pwncheck for the presence of vulnerable passwords, inviting users to change it.

Over the next few months, I monitored password changes and saw many users attempting to enter vulnerable passwords. Without this tool I would never have known and would have been vulnerable to credential stuffing attacks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Set and forget for password improvement"

What do you like best about safepass.me?

The "set and forget" nature of the software means that IT isn't taking a ton of time keeping password lists updated or just hoping people are paying attention to training. Installation is a breeze, too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about safepass.me?

The only limitations are ones that are imposed by Active Directory itself - there's no good way to notify an end user that their password is rejected because it appeared in a list or database, instead of just they didn't follow complexity requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about safepass.me?

I like the fact that it is very easy to setup, and maintain. There is little to no maintenance with this application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about safepass.me?

There are 2 very minimal things that i would like to see improved.

1. I would like to see the reporting with PWNCHECK improved, by being able to remove disabled accounts from the report.

2. When adding users to the password exception lists on the domain controllers, and also adding password words the the block lists, i wish when i made the changes to one file, that it made the changes to every domain controller, instead of having to go to each DC and edit the files.
