The Excel plug-in is the most useful tool that S&P Global has brought to the table here. I also like the live support feature-they will help with any of your projects you are working on. The Discounted Cash Flow feature in the Excel plug-in is also a great tool. **What do you dislike about S&P Capital IQ Pro?** The ease of use. The user interface takes a while to get used to. It is very outdated looking and often comes up with errors when performing interactive screen processes. Narrowing in on exactly what you're looking for can take some time, but overall not a big issue once you get used to it. **Recommendations to others considering S&P Capital IQ Pro:** If you need a centralized location for insurance and public corporation regulatory information with up to date news and insight this is a great tool. These have always been extremely informative, the representatives not only answered all the questions we had, but also anticipated additional uses for Cap IQ in our business. I also like how responsive the representatives on the live chat are. **What do you dislike about S&P Capital IQ Pro?** Some features of cap IQ are not the most user friendly, such as creating watch lists, which takes many different steps and is often hard to remember. However, with the live chat I am usually able to get any issues I have with this resolved quickly! **What problems is S&P Capital IQ Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use capital IQ to research companies and industries, and it is very helpful for this purpose. Cap IQ provides a general overview of a company in the "tear sheet" and also allows you to make customized lists for an industry. ### 11. For public companies, the ability to click one or two times and see its capitalization, research projections, and ownership also made it a great tool. **What do you dislike about S&P Capital IQ Pro?** It was slow and clunky at least one time a day when I used it. They offered many features that I considered non-core, but they were always trying to get you to use it. Their public equity values weren't based on the treasury stock method so I would have to manually calculate them on my own. **Recommendations to others considering S&P Capital IQ Pro:** Their customer service would always do their best to help and would be honest very quickly if they didn't have a solution to your problem (instead of "checking" with others/superiors for a ~24-48 hour period). A few years back there were certain times during the day when you couldn't get through but recently that stopped. **What problems is S&P Capital IQ Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** Most often, I was looking for guidance on company capitalization information. Later on I started using it for estimate guidance and equity research sourcing. Certain times, I would use it to better understand a company's ownership (i.e., who is the parent company of an asset we are looking at). Capital IQ was effective in getting these requests done. ### 13. However, this is understandable as this information is very often simply unavailable so difficult to judge them on this. **Recommendations to others considering S&P Capital IQ Pro:** If you work on the corporate deal-making side of finance, this is a must have. **What problems is S&P Capital IQ Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?** This tool is my personal favorite for financial and business analysis of public companies. The data are disorganized, meaning you had to search for what you wanted.
