## Ryver Reviews
  ### 1. Much better than Slack

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick S. | Founder & President, Research, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Ryver offers the same capabilities as Slack at a fraction of the cost

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

I wish their screenshare process was a bit clearer but once you get used to it, it's easy

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Don't waste your money on Slack. Ryver is better and more affordable

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We operate in a fully decentralized office. We all work from our home offices and this allows us to keep all our communications regarding our clients centralized

  ### 2. Ryver Overflowing

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

I liked that you can create different channels and also directly message individual team members.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

It was another platform to check with minimal notifications. I didn't want to be bombarded with notifications, but if they're off I'd miss a slew of messages. The platform wasn't as simple as it could be or very engaging to keep staff members using it.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

There are other communication tools available that are more user friendly and cost effective.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were trying to solve problems with communication and transparency between leadership and staff. It was a novelty at first and encouraged openness. Staff felt comfortable sharing news, updates, and praises.

  ### 3. Good Alternate of Skype

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Airlines/Aviation | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

I like most of its features because it is very secure that no one will be enter my organization without admin permission and no one can interrupt your organization privacy.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

only one document or one can send to anyone at a time so if we have to send multiple files to anyone it is very difficult on ryver

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Only sharing issue in ryver that at a time you can share one file to anyone please fix it.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

when I used skype in my company we have many risks that anyone can join our groups with anyone's permission now I feel safe that without my permission nobody is allowed to join my organization.

  ### 4. Communication for my team has increased considerbly!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff B. | Manager, Information Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

- Cross-platform functionality - I am able to use in on my PC via app, my PC via web, my iPad and also my Android phone
- GIPHY integration - This makes conversations fun, using MEMEs and pictures
- Licensing is very fair, affordable
- Audio conferencing
- Group task scheduling
- Always in development with new features on a regular basis!

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Would like to see a push toward more emphasis on video. It has the ability and it runs well, however it's a little less intuitive to get going.
Task scheduling is minimal, but we did not get the product for this so this was not a big issue.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

There are a lot of options out there. We started with Ryver as it was free for the first 5 users added. Once we realized that this was the product for us, we purchased the license and have added our whole IT team, plus other departments. We looked at SLACK as an alternative however for our sake, the cost analysis pointed toward Ryver as our primary goal was communication, over task work.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping communication flowing for our IT team was always a challenge. There was always an influx of emails back and forth that got overwhelming and lost. Having Ryver solved this as we could have real-time discussions about things, in a group chat and not have to wait on email responses.

  ### 5. Invaluable Communication Tool for our Company

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kimberly B. | Director of Professional Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

The ease of use and navigation within the application. The ability to organize teams both public and private, direct chats with reminders, notification, and tasks has made all the difference in our daily interactions. We are not able to respond to our team mates and customer inquires quicker with the full knowledge base of our organization at our finger tips.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Nothing really... I believe Ryver is a great tool and the company is always responsive to inquires and making updates to keep it relevant.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

I recommend that you try it... you'll love it! Using it is the best way to see all of the features available to you and your teams. You can even have more than one Ryver account. Some people use it for professional interaction and have another account to keep in touch with family schedules and communications.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a software company with many employees that work remotely (in other states). Ryver allows us to reach other team members quickly and easily without phone calls or emails. Ryver allows us to share information, files and tasks as well as reminders. The ability to have public forums and private teams allows our organization to function productively with minimal interruptions using notification preferences. HUGE WIN! Thanks!

  ### 6. Excellent Integrated Option for Communication

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Having communication, project management, and video/audio conferencing built into one tool makes it much easier to onboard new people to the group and get them up to speed. It's especially useful when training people who are not as technologically able as they only need one account and one UI to get used to.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

It would be great to have an ability to display in office/traveling/working remotely status or something along those lines. Overall though, no real issues have come up for us.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Definitely worth considering, provides great value versus the competition and a massive feature set in one integrated product.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ryver is helping keep us on track in our work by keeping everyone appraised of the condition of the project and tasks within it rather than needing continuous meetings to watch it move from assignment to progress to completion and refinement. Also, having the conferencing features built in helps more people be present for meetings and presentations when needed.

  ### 7. Ryver has been a great collaboration tool for our coaching staff

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sterling E. | Teacher/Coach, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

We are a large high school football program with 20 coaches. Ryver has completely replaced email and group text messages as our method of collaboration. Until you have used Ryver you don't realize how much it streamlines conversations and allows for great dialogue. The conversations stay on topic. It is a source of great collaboration and entertainment for our staff.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

The notifications for Topics are sometimes confusing to our less tech savvy staff members. They receive the notifications but can't always drill down to the conversation that applies to the notification.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Until you have used Ryver you don't realize how much it streamlines conversations and allows for great dialogue. The conversations stay on topic. It is a source of great collaboration and entertainment for our staff.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We create a separate Forum for offense, defense and special teams (in addition to many others). WIthin those Forums we create a seperate Topic for each opponent we are playing. That allows us to have game plan and scouting report discussions about each opponent without it getting lost in just a forum's chat conversation. And next year we will be able to reference our conversation about each opponent. It contributed to one of our best seasons in years (we finished with a record of 9-2 and won our conference for the first time since 2013).

  ### 8. Cheaper and Just as Good as Slack

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaylee P. | Audience Development Team Manager, Publishing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

I love the fact that Ryver is so cost effective. I work with a big team at a startup, so Slack wasn't really in our budget. Ryver is just as good and has really helped us increase communication. It's been a great way to not only avoid some "is this broken for you guys too" emails, but has also been great for morale. A well-placed gif can make the day!

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

What I like least about Ryver is that it can be a little harder to navigate for our team. We moved from Google Hangouts (only one on one) to this and a lot of team members have been hesitant to jump on and find it a little disruptive.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Make sure that whoever is setting it up knows how to do so and has been on-boarded. Also, think critically about what forums and teams to have before launching. If your team is big, make clear in-house rules so it helps productivity instead of being too messy.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I knew that Ryver would be awesome for increasing communication and heading off some long email chains, but what I did not expect was the fact that it would actually boost morale a bit. We have had some big issues with our email marketing platforms and CMS that the whole team uses. When it is down, our editorial room isn't as grumpy since we're all in it together. It also helps avoid us not realizing things are broken until much too late.

  ### 9. Works as described as a Slack alternative

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roland Bautista G. | Customer Service Provider, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

We were looking for a cost-effective Slack alternative and we found it. Fairly reliable. Available for PC & MacOS and mobile phones. Easy to copy and paste files and images. Easy to set up and administer. One price for unlimited number of users! Recently tried out the voice call; it was a surprisingly very good experience.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

The tendency to reply to a message from a different group or person instead of the one that just prompted. Inability to close rogue groups. Keyword search is poor. Can't remove cancelled or inactive user accounts.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

As administrator, configure your organization so that only Admins can create groups by default so that they are limited and controlled. If a rogue group is created by users, there is no way to monitor, manage, or remove that group.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reducing email exchanges and an always available, multi-platform, instant communication tool. The ability to switch between different organizations allows us to communicate seamlessly with disparate projects all in one app.

  ### 10. Ryver: Good UI, Simple API, Ease of Use off the charts

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim G. | Senior Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

The Ryver API is simple and intuitive It is by far my most favorite feature. It's a bit dumbed down and therefore seems limited in functionality, but perhaps I just haven't dug deep enough.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Poor calendar and document management. Ryver is only slightly better organized than Email. The collaboration ability more than makes up for this. I LOVE that I can delete chat messages, but it seems like that opens the platform up to abuse by upper management.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Make sure you do a trial. Put it through its paces.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All internal communication for our small company happens in Ryver. It has, 99% replaced internal email. Having a permanent place to store communications is a great feature - email works, but is too disorganized to be as useful as Ryver.

  ### 11. Great for small teams, easy to integrate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tony B. | Sr. Web Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Ryver allows for quick and easy integration with nearly all of our internal systems using their REST API. This is great for updating the team on a specific event or even notifying specific team members with status messages if something goes down. Pricing is so much better than Slack or other team messenger apps.

As others have stated, I do feel there is a lack of "Polish" on the application and infrastructure. During my time using Ryver, there have been several updates to better the software, and I feel the team at Ryver is stepping up their game.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

The Linux app occasionally has an issue displaying the layout correctly. The left hand navigation bar will hide randomly, then show randomly. This doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it's pretty annoying. The problem of the bar not displaying doesn't cause issues using the application, but it does bug me because I have to take additional measures to see any notifications I may have.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Take the time to review the features Ryver has to offer. The ease of use and integration with internal products is great, and the pricing model is even better.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to easily integrate our entire team over the course of a day. This was incredible.

  ### 12. Ryver has great power to transform teams and potential to connect large communities

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

I love the threaded conversations. Keeping conversations and related documents in their own place by using topics helps me keep things organized. This means more productive time for my teammates rather than catch-up time trying to find things.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

I wish there was a central team "hub" or board where we could see everything laid out. I also find the lack of advanced notification controls challenging. Moving a small team to a new communication platform is challenging enough, but when we are talking about adding in a whole community, notifications become a major issue. I wish that we could limit push notifications to @mentions while leaving the notifications visible in the app. Also, a language option would make this more usable in the globalized world we live in. Finally, better calendar integrations and management oversight features would be very helpful.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a team, information loss was a major issue. Lost documents and "lost" messages used to cause major conflict and were a cause of significant time loss. Also, as a partly virtual team, having out of meeting discussions proved to be a nightmare before Ryver, now we can do it with ease.

  ### 13. Great teamwork communication tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris V. | BDM, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Features/Functions that are very versatile. Good UI/UX that even though most of the users are insufficient in English language but they can manage to use the software.
Unlimited data upload limit.
Topic/Task functions.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

User rights/authorization and tracking need to be improved - the users if they edit there's no way we know the messages/comments/input are edited.
Photos are uploaded but there's no gallery feature. We can't click next to see the next pictures but have to close the current and click the next ones.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a tailor house in Vietnam with inhouse production. The information needs to be streamlined well and data to be recorded & different teams work with each other. We need a centralized channel to communicate with functions like files, chat, tracking, tasks... Ryver helps us well with minimal investment.

Since using Ryver, it's easier for us to send & receive information, most of the data are centralized. And of course we dont have to pay a fortune for what we are using.

  ### 14. Using Ryver for software development team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

We came to Ryver after using a couple of other competitors and testing even more. I have to admit we were first attracted to Ryvers free and then freemium model. We were running a small team of 6 devs at the time on a very limited budget and it was the right fit. Now three years down the road we am still using it. I like the features that have been added along the way like the task/project management, but I have stayed with it because I just like how the chat is designed and the ability to convert things to posts, private forums, user management, webhooks and also fairly good integrations, though I would like to see those expanded. I like the desktop client working across platform, I develop on linux, and it is much lighter weight, i.e. no lags, unlike *cough cough* Slack.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Well as a SAAS developer myself I understand pricing models, and while $49 for Starter up to 12 persons is fair for the Premium features, but I think there should be even a smaller plan for teams of 5 or less.

We really would like a way to easily disable the feature that fetches the first image from a website link, especially on a link by link basis. At first we were able to do so by the way we edited the link, I forget what that was now, but then you all "fixed" that and it does not seem like there is a way to prevent it. There are definitely times we need to be able to do so.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Obviously communication, and keeping a long lasting record thereof, as well as associated/shared screen shots and other files.

  ### 15. A very good alternative for Slack

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

The combination of chat, task and posts in a each channel, which makes it easy to have a fast paced chat, at the same time, deliberate on discussions that need lot of thought in posts and solicit comments from rest of the team members.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

It does not work well on mobile and has lot of latency issues on 4g network too. It takes a lot of time to initially load, which gives a terrible experience on low bandwidth Internet connections. The tasks have no easy way to integrate with external task trackers / issue management software.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

It is definitively a good alternative to slack, although a lot remains to be improved on mobile app. Currently it is only a webview which opens the ryver website and has issues with offline use of the app.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It connects all the stakeholders of the product in a easy to use interface, whether developer or sales manager. A lot less email threads! This is the default destination for our discussions related to product features and quick sharing of the UI/UX mockups. The task management saves a lot of time and provides an instantaneous way to convert the conversation into actionable points.

  ### 16. Ryver for international, mobile, independent teams

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas M. K. | Indie Game Producer & Lead Designer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Ryver is a powerful tool but simple to use. It supports markdown, attaching files, creating global and private forums, nested topics, planning to do list and tasks, reminders, even videoconferences. I like the most the reliability of Ryver as a desktop and website communicator, allowing to fast reply, and plan/schedule the development process among different people from different organizations focused on the same team structure (3D artists, programmers, 2D artists, etc).

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

The "desktop" version of Ryver is almost undestroyable and gives us (as a team) the wider workshop and possibilities (even if there are occasional problems with disconnections). Website version of Ryver is a little, tiny bit less comfortable to use, when you need to functioning between different organizations. Mobile version of Ryver for Android is the worst among the company. It freezes sometimes, disconnects, sometimes even struggling to start the app directly from the push notifications (app returns error pages with unsuccessful connection and logging, also - similar as web app, the mobile app does not support working with a couple of organizations).

At very end: I would prefer that Ryver would have its limit up to 8 people, rather than 6 people per single organization, but this is only my point of view, as a Team Leader.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

If you are looking for a tool with a purpose of frequently communications, no limits (quota/messages), easily configurable, stable (desktop, web) and with additional support for tasks, reminders, simple Kanban => go for it and pick Ryver.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are working with different locations as a spread and international team, so we need a good and efficient platform not only to share written thoughts but also attachments (and Ryver offers that currently there are no upper limits for the quota), links (supported by markdown), pictures, and topics grouped by tags or subjects. With Ryver our team received all required possibilities to communicate and organize our work. We are using Ryver also as our internal documentation holder and Wiki Dev page, because unless than Slack, there are no limits for stored conversations - which allows us to keep all things together, without engaging external services for archiving PDF, a lot of base concepts and statements, initial agreements from the last 2-3 years, and code of conducts -> which does not disappear after unpredictable amount of time and should be accessible everyday.

  ### 17. Good for chatting with colleagues

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

It allows you to create chatrooms about topics, so you can chat about a project with your colleagues

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

I used to use It when it was free, bit then It became a paid service and there are other free alternatives

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Chat about peojects with colleagues

  ### 18. Used a communication log

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelsey L. | General Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

We like that you can reply to previous comments to keep the stream of information together.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

The search feature seems to pick and choose what it wants to show and also lists its findings in a strange order.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to communicate between multiple locations in the present time. We are all on the phone constantly so Ryver allows us to assist each other while conducting our phone calls. It also allows our clients to feel they can reach out to any employee and any information everyone needs to be aware of will be shared with the whole team.

  ### 19. Love Ryver

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ethan K. | CEO, Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Ryver is easy to use, well organized, and reliable.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Very minor, but I kind of wish it were easier to see who reacted to your post with an emoji. You can mouse over it on the computer, but it’s a bit more challenging on mobile. I also wish there were read receipts So I can tell which employees have read my message.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company has many different divisions including retail, wholesale, and manufacturing. We are in several different locations throughout the state, and Ryver helps us communicate as if we were all under the same roof.

  ### 20. Great collaboration tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert C. M. | Business Development Director, Law Practice, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Ryver is easy to use and easy to setup. I like how you can create different teams so only those people on a specific project can communicate. Also, we use the topics tab to keep important information so it doesn't get lost in the feed.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Create a forum like all hands so that as you add new people to Ryver it automatically adds the people to the forum.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to share links and information more easily. People don't have to waste time searching their inbox to look for information when it is in Ryver.

  ### 21. Chat for Small Business

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Intuitive chat for internal business purposes. Mobile app works well on IOS. Free for 5 users.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

There was some initial glitchiness and one of my colleagues experienced frequent crashes and connectivity issues. They seem to have been ironed out with the newest update. Pasting images images via chat is sometimes awkward to use. I find you have to click twice to get the message to send - so there have been instances where I have though an image was sent, but it is still sitting in teh Queue. Files sent via chat are downloaded versus direct opening - makes using email for quick review of documents that you do not need to edit the preferred method.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cuts down on internal email - keeps me in touch with my employees throughout the day.

  ### 22. Simple but strong team tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

We love Ryvers chat based communication, in which chat messages can be raised to topics, that again can be raised to tasks. It’s way of being organised in teams and forums makes it very suitable for an organisation as ours.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

It lacks a bit in organising and presenting files. Files follows the teams very well. But it’s a bit heavy to get an overview over them.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We at a quite decentralised organisation, with employees working on different hours an in many different places. Ryver keeps us well together at all times.

  ### 23. Very powerful tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tiago d. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Unlimited collaboration with external users. Very smooth to use, no training required. Its subscription model helps you achieve more with less, not charging for every little feature.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Mobile app is a little heavy and buggy, but allows use of most functions. Desktop client is very heavy.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Stop using email and get your customers to use it.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It dramatically reduced Email, allows everyone to catch up quickly to what's going on.

It also allows super-fast communcation between us, our customers, external consultants and vendors. Everyone is just one chat away.

  ### 24. Ryver is great because of it's native Tasks and Topics, but not much reaction to customer feedback

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

You can elevate any chat messages to Tasks or Topics. One big flaw of all other Instant Messaging systems like Whatsapp, Slack and others is that whenever more than one issue is discussed, the older issue gets "buried" by the new chat messages. If you need to discuss the issue again, you have to do a search or scroll up. With Ryver, as soon as something becomes "important" or it seems useful to discuss again, you can create a Topic with all the chat messages about the issue. Also, instead of just telling people to do something using the chat, you can create a task and assign it to one or more people. Plus each task is a topic in itself...can be discussed as much as necessary.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

When we started with Ryver, it seemed that they cared about what us users wanted. They even have a user feedback system: https://feedback.ryver.com/ However, months pass and doesn't seem they work on anything requested by users. Instead, their management or IT team decides what's the next issue to work on. Not good!

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Ask them to work on the users' feedback requests: https://feedback.ryver.com/

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have employees in different countries. We have always used instant messaging to communicate. We used to work with slack, but never got users to really use any task systems that we integrated with it. When we started with Ryver, tasks were used from the start, until this day. Very useful!

  ### 25. Easy team communication

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

I love the topics to keep communication organized, but you can also chat one on one if you need to.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

The UI could be a little nicer. I'd love to have more shortcuts. And the mobile app is pretty slow.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

This is the best solution of its kind that I've seen. It's definitely got room for improvement, but it's a simple solution that lets you organize communication into topics while still being able to have one on one chats if need be.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Team communication is the best benefit. Rather than managing a bunch of email threads, we can use topics or we can chat one on one for quick things.

  ### 26. A Great Option for Internal Team Communication

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

I like how simple Ryver is to use, and how frequently they update the app. I haven't run into any stability issues, and they seem to be on top of keeping up with the trends and needs of users for team communication.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

I think the only thing I've experienced some hiccups with is the mobile app. Even those are very minimal complaints, it's not unusable, it just has some hiccups compared to the desktop app. Very small complaint for me!

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ryver provides a secure channel for my team to chat quickly and discuss things that don't need to be an email, much more conversational and keeps everyone engaged.

  ### 27. Best Slack Alternative

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua W. | CEO and Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 17, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

I've enjoyed Ryver's clean user interface and easy management features. It's easy to put together teams and channels and change notifications for them. And because of their API, we've been able to integrate our 3rd part apps. For the features you get, the price has the best value.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

It would be nice to have more flexibility with the team notification settings.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a widely distributed team doing tech support, development and marketing. Ryver has been a central place to collaborate and share news that is not email. It's more affordable than Slack and has some nice task management features we've used.

  ### 28. Better than Slack

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew A. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

I love the checklist and tasks. This was lacking from our previous portal and once I saw this feature I was sold. I can now track my employees progress on a task or project and they can check each others too. It's probably the single reason why we have stay with Ryver.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

When we have our phones plugged into our car and listening to music, the music stops when we open up Ryver when a new notification hits.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Cost of product is incredible and features they have to offer are even better!

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving efficiency.

  ### 29. Excellent Communication Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Humberto U. | Owner, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

The best part is the Task Module. You can assign tasks to your teammates and keep the track until the task is finished.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

I like everything in Ryver. Maybe, more plans (each company have different needs) $$

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication problems were solved with this tool. We received hundreds of emails and now we can focus on important issues.

  ### 30. Excellent Team Communication tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Works brilliantly, especially with our remote teams, and inevitably keeps the email burden to a minimum

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Occasionally find the (Android) app freezes or gets stuck - but restarting the app or a forced stop works fine without disrupting the sessions or channels

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our business operates entirely as a remote team and Ryver makes it incredibly easy to keep in contact without wading through endless emails.

We have used more heavily in the past to manage multiple projects in separate channels - and that works fine for us - but mostly team comms these days

  ### 31. Decent but not ready for prime time. Lacks polish of other competitors

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

The "unlimited" side of things. Unlimited users, files, history, etc.. is really nice. Including tasks is helpful if you need to share tasks with other teammates. I like how each forum is setup with a chat as well as topics so you can separate long term discussions from day to day chats.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

They were free, said they were going to be free, and now they are charging a monthly/yearly fee to use. The system crashes quite frequently and some of the features just don't seem to be ready for a final product. My employees have told me it disconnects constantly. Notifications don't always come through and the mobile app is very crude. There isn't a customizable status anywhere that I can see so you are stuck with the built in options.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

I really hope charging for this product will improve it. I only stayed with Ryver because a.) we were already knee deep in with our company integration b.) there was a deal price signing up for a year c.) it was the cheapest solution that met our needs. If the product does not improve closer to Slack I am strongly considering moving back to Slack or to a solution that Microsoft or similar companies offer.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Ryver to communicate across the country with our 5+ locations. We can all be on the same page through each of our departments. We realized having everyone from the same department in a shared forum allows for less duplicate messaging from standard messaging clients. It saves time in that regard.

**Official Response from Jack Heald:**

> Thanks for an honest review, Justin.

We only get better when people tell us what they DON'T like about Ryver. Positive reviews *feel* good. Negative reviews help us get better.

So again, thank you.

We wouldn't put up with a product that disconnects constantly, and we don't expect you to do so either. We'll figure out why you are experiencing this, and get it resolved.

Your experience is not what we want for our customers, whatever the cause. I've asked our VP of Development to dig into your issue.

He'll be contacting you directly to address these concerns and get them resolved.

  ### 32. Ryver is Excellent!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Ryver has great functionality especially for my team. We love being able to categorize all pending tasks and put all our discussions into various topics.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

If there was better support for Ryver voice and if it worked in different browsers and mobile as well that would have been great!

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Ryver is great and there is really good customer support/service. They will take care of your concerns!

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a non profit organization and we were definitely able to get far more organized with Ryver. It is easy to use, explain, and interact with.

  ### 33. Excellent Board and Committee Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jesse K. | Managing Director, Management Consulting, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

1. Ryver reduces email, yeah!!
2. Allows for focused conversations for boards and committee
3. Allows for separate committee workspaces and sub conversations
4. Creates a history of activity for board chairs and committee chairs to review
5. Assist with on boarding of new board and committee members by providing easy to access histories of the work being done and issues being discussed.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

The orientation tools for new members could be a little more better. It would nice if Ryver provided some graphics and example maps for how it works. The challenge in the non-profit world is that many of the leaders and community members are not deeply engaged in the world of social media or computers.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Provide adequate orientation for new users.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The primary business problem address with Ryver is communication, specifically continuity related to discussions and conversations around complex issues. With email the conversations and email chains actually create more confusion. Ryver saves time by avoiding the avalanche of emails around a simple conversation. It also allows us to isolate components of complex issues for small or large groups to address.

  ### 34. Simple but powerfull communications

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Donald H. | ICT Manager, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Ryver is easy to get to grips with. We use if for our Parents Association, so is used by a disparate group with all skill levels with no training and they just get it.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

File attachments are just listed by the posting. Having a summary of attachments for each forum would be very handy.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

There are a number of similar products on the market, so check what you need and what it will cost for your size of organisation. Ryver provides free accounts for non-profits, so is a no-brainer for us and the flat-rate cost structure generally makes it cost effective for larger outfits. Development of the product has been steady, with new features being added and the product has been reliable.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We co-ordinate our fundraising and publicity activities and Ryver helps both with the communications, but also with storing information, so when we want to re-run a particular fundraiser we have the details all to hand.

  ### 35. Ryver enables effective lab communication

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan S. | Assistant Professor, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Having a persistent record of discussions that can be sorted by task and topic makes recalling old ideas and maintaining continuity easy. Being able to add guests to single tasks is great.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Interface is improving. In particular downloading attachments from the app and notifications need work, but have been getting better. Also, the inability to change a forum to private and vice versa is a little colorblind to work where security may change.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

This is probably obvious for a larger team, but make sure to build the culture of using topics and tasks early, it is very easy to just use it as a chat system and there is a lot of benefit to the integrated nature.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I should note that we are a single lab of ~10 people within the larger Rutgers organization. Schedules of a small research group, consisting of undergraduate and graduate students, are highly varied and also the level of knowledge ranges a great deal. Being able to instantly communicate in a persistent manner has greatly reduced delays. We are also experimenting with task lists. Adoption is slow, but with newer students we are already seeing that it helps focus people on what to do next and also provide me insight as to when people are pursuing dead ends.

  ### 36. Served Our Needs - Great Customer Service

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jerry H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

When we first started using Ryver it was still under development, but already handled Email among our members better than any of the alternatives. The developers at Ryver worked with us on a few tweaks that made the system even better. Their support has been great.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

I did not like the move to monetize Ryver when basic users were promised free use. Upon letting Pat Sullivan know of my concern - and inability to pay, since we were simply coordinating among a small group of outdoor enthusiasts - he modified the policy so that non-profits and small groups like ours could continue to use Ryver free.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

If you have a small, non-business group it may not be reasonable to pay for this type of service. Since Ryver is free for non-profit and other groups like this, it's a no-brainer over the costly alternatives.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work with three small groups that use Ryver to coordinate and inform participants about activities and developments. Most of the individuals involved prefer email contacts while other prefer to have the whole string of comments and attachments available in one place. Ryver served both needs perfectly.

  ### 37. Great instant messaging platform loaded with features!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Construction | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Easy to deploy and add users. Fair pricing for unlimited users.Minimum user training required. One of the best features is that allows cross platform intergration, so weather you are on windows, IOS or Android, you're connected.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

It would be nice if installer would enable auto start on windows startup as a default option when it installs desktop client.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

It's free to try and you get full support while trial

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cross platform real time communication and collaboration between users does not matter if they are in the office or on the field

  ### 38. Great platform for sharing and team work

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

It is a great plafrom for large as well as medium groups working on the same tasks. It allows for the creation for creation of groups and subgroups and facilitate our work.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Nothing really. The platform suits our needs and I cannot thing of something I dislike about it.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

The price is a bit expensive for regular users and students.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We work on different projects with multiple team members, each is a part of at least two groups with assigned tasks. Ryver allow for a perfect managment of such work.

  ### 39. Great group communications app!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rafael Eduardo C. | Jefe de División Aseguramiento de la Calidad, Government Administration, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

* The task management options, and great group communication abilities.
Everyone is on the same page using ryver. We share documents and collaborate in an effective manner thanks to Ryver. The task management is excellent and easy to use. Just set up a workflow, and off you go. You can easily drag a task to the next step when you need to. It couldn't be easier.
* Unlimited uploads
With Ryver, you don't have to worry about hitting a limit with your files. Just upload and share.
* Unlimited search
With other apps you can't just search the whole database. With Ryver there is no limit to how far you can search. Everything you or your team have said is there to be searched. The WHOLE history of interactions is searchable. That's an invaluable tool.
*The desktop version is the same as the web version.
The user experience is awesome across multiple products. You can install the desktop version, or just fire up a browser and navigate to your Ryver page. You will see the same screens, and interact with the software in a predictable way across products.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

The android app takes too long loading the first time.
There's no way to pin a message.
No themes.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

It's got Tasks!!!
Does everything slack does, and more, at a better price.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

* Effective communication with all team members
We switched from whatsapp and slack, and now have a central solution to our communications needs
* Task assignment and follow up
The perfect marriage: team communications, and task management!

  ### 40. Rapidly evolving communication platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David A. | Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

As a non-profit organisation Ryver stood out over its competitors with a free solution that did not limit the message search history. This was VERY important to us.

The threaded "Topics" allow for important discussions to be tracked and archived. With more linear chat tools this valuable information is often lost in the noise of a channel.

Ryver is actively developed and new and useful features are pushed out regularly.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Would like to be able to set the default notification levels for all new users. I.E. Change the default

Would be really like to have the option to turn on message notifications in Chat.
Would love to be able to paste an image into the text chat box and have that uploaded.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We gained access to the "Tasks" feature recently. Even though we are not a business, our organisation has quickly found that the board has enabled us to track important actionable items between meetings and work collaboratively on these, where previously this work was often "unseen".

  ### 41. Out team is communicating better in the Ryver

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dr. RJ G. | Principal, International Trade and Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Simple kanban task management with a low learning curve and good communication tools built in. It really helped my team bring organization to project management.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

The help feature (Ryver's "Wddt Bot") is weak in its ability to provide truly helpful info; however their support team is quick and responsive.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

Pricing structure makes giving a Ryver a serious trial a "no brainer" Six users and unlimited guests can be deployed at no cost. For some teams, this size is sufficient to meet their needs. For organizations that surpass the six user limit, the current flat fee pricing structure also makes Ryver one of the better tools.

Their integration with Google Drive has been a highly used feature of the product, with our team sharing project-driven online folders. It has saved us a great deal of sharing time and multiple emails back and forth.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When I became EVP for the school, they were about to undertake a large project, but had no PM software to keep track of tasks, assignments, completion tracking, etc. Communication was solely via email, and all lists were personal.

Ryver seemed to be just the right mix of structure and flexibility, and has allowed our team (spread across multiple states and time zones) to create a centrally-managed database of tasks that was trackable by all.

  ### 42. Ryver is awesome! Highly recommend

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle J. | CEO / Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

The ability to tag other guests within the team room, as well as the API functionality.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

When scrolling on the mobile app to view previous messages, it can glitch and jump way higher than you scrolled.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to communicate with my team members and provide a place of meeting.

  ### 43. Improving Team Communication

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian B. | Executive Director, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

We have been using HipChat for years but needed a replacement. When we found Ryver we knew it would be an easy transition. We have got everyone moved over and there was not a huge learning curve.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

The import from HipChat to Ryver could have been smoother.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Team communication.

  ### 44. Brilliant alternative to Slack or Workplace

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phillip K. | ICT-advisor, Education Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Ryver is really easy to use and for our use is a better match than the others since it has a task module, which the others don't.
It easily integrates with lots of third party applications, and support has been very quick to respond.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Wish it could integrate easier with more third party services.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

To us, Ryver has been even better than Slack, so it is strange that so few people know about this product. If you come from e-mail, don't even blink: just try Ryver and you will be hooked. If you come from Slack or Workplace (or similar software): try the task module. It is really good!

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is so much better than e-mail, which was our previous method for group communication. Questions from team members are answered in half the time (or less) than before, and the discussions are much better.

  ### 45. almos always perfect

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adis P. | Managing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Ability to create tasks and follow through them with my team

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

too many update prompts, sometimes it shows unread message but there is no message to be found, mobile app sometimes does not work

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

team collaboration on small projects, tasks spread across team

  ### 46. We love Ryver

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lee S. | Committee Member, Entertainment, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Simplicity and represents great value for the investment.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

The product could be more intuitive and the skin / wrapper is a little dated.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

We did our homework, and Ryver was the best solution for the Group - not to mention the best value for money with great product support from "Jeff".

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sharing operational information to better service our members and guests. Greater engagement across our workforce, cuts across hierarchy giving direct access to all levels of the business.

  ### 47. Great Group Connector

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

I like that it’s easy to chat back and forth. I like the ease of creating group forums.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

I dislike NOTHING! Everything about Ryver is really great.

**Recommendations to others considering Ryver:**

It is the best at this time! Ryver is continually getting better and will likely be the no brainer solution for all businesses in a short while.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to be able to connect with students internationally. The benefits of being able to have a private platform among individuals within the organization.

  ### 48. Easy to use for us.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

Slack is too complicated for us, so we decided to use Ryver.

The best feature I love Ryver is "Task".
Ryver's task specification can use like Trello, I mean Ryver has the chat and Trello.

Slack can integrated with Trello, but It just send us "notification",it's not good for us.
Because we have to manage lots of tasks everyday.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Sometimes Native App hangs up.
But my iPhone is old 6S Plus......

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Free to use for startups.

  ### 49. Ryver for our team

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

I love the fact that we have topics. That way we can keep our job orders organized

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

I don't like that if I post something on a forum, I cannot reply/move it to another one. Or that if I search for something, I cannot reply to it.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are keeping track of our orders and what we need to fill. We are making people accountable this way as well by knowing who fill what.

  ### 50. Keeps our sales team in communication

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Ryver?**

The teams features allows us to group our employees so they only see the chats that are needed. Being able to mention somebody with a notification is great. The Tasks feature let us consolidate from another system to using Ryver exclusively.

**What do you dislike about Ryver?**

Would like to see a managing access with access to employees chats.

**What problems is Ryver solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saves us time in communication and sets clear tasks for employees with an easy way to manage.
