Also they are able to work during their weekends or at home as much as they would like. **What do you dislike about Rosetta Stone?** The pronounciation section always gets to be too senstive to other voices so the student scores wrong although they say it right. **Recommendations to others considering Rosetta Stone:** Take the life training session offered for free before working on the program it is so good. **What problems is Rosetta Stone solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am able to operate and monitor a huge class of 58 students all at the same time. with different levels of profciency[ basic, intermediate, advanced] and different languages [ French and Arabic] within the same class. ### 2. It's much better than memorizing phrases. Rosetta's goal is to teach the student how to communicate rather than how to converse, which worked well for me. Studio sessions are extremely powerful in that they build confidence and helped me to get over the fear of speaking to a live person in a new language. **What do you dislike about Rosetta Stone?** Rosetta's greatest weakness is that it doesn't explain grammar. The approach is to mimic the way that the student learned his/her native language, which is to speak first and figure out the grammar later. This may work for some people, but I want to learn both so that (for example) I'll know when to use one form of the past tense over another. When the Studio sessions were 50 minutes long they were fantastic. Everyone had an opportunity to speak. When they went to 25 minutes and limited the number of sessions per month that you could attend, it totally destroyed their usefulness. I was lucky if I was able to get 4 or 5 minutes of speaking time as they didn't reduce the number of students that could be in a session. I stopped participating out of frustration after a few sessions, even though I had a year remaining on my subscription. This change happened after a new CEO took over the company. **Recommendations to others considering Rosetta Stone:** Use a second product to learn the grammar at the same time. It's easier than doing RS first and learning the structure later. **What problems is Rosetta Stone solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am learning Italian for personal reasons. I have relatives in Italy who don't speak English, and I can speak the language well enough to have simple conversations with them. However, I needed outside instruction to develop an understanding of the grammar (adult ed classes and a private tutor). RS gave me the vocabulary and the other resources gave me the grammar. You need both. ### 3. What I like best is the whole program, Its interactive features and the fact I can set my own pace. I am not only learning to speak, but also to write in all 3 Japanese alphabets. I love the opportunity to schedule live lessons with native speakers and to make friends all over the world with whom to share this adventorous journey. In 6 months, I am already able to speak at an intermediate level. i can read ingredeients in recipes and menus, greet and exchange phrases with my fellow students and teachers. **What do you dislike about Rosetta Stone?** I wish I could schedule more live Studio sessions with the native speakers. But 4 a month is adequate enough. **Recommendations to others considering Rosetta Stone:** Enjoy! **What problems is Rosetta Stone solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am learning business etiquette. How to be diplomatic and polite with my Japanese coworkers and friends. I have been able to give directions to a few of them visiting the USA and to share with them insights about the American culture. ### 4.
