### 7. source maps handling not flexible, versions support only in advanced (pricey) plan

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Szymon S. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 24, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

some advanced features like RQL (querying your data in Rollbar) , dashboards - these are nice yet not must have for early stage

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Version support is important even (or especially) for early stage projects thus the only option is to jump in to advanced plan ... Or just go to alternative solution being good enough for start and beyond.
Also got disappointed finding out there is no wildcard support for source maps which I found very useful feature of Bugsnag.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

I got curious to try Rollbar seeing high rating. After giving a try in a new project I got quickly disappointed concerning few key flaws and decided to integrate with Bugsnag I used in the past and had no issues with it.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Collecting bugs from both front-end and back-end. No benefits when comparing to alternatives.

 ### 8. Rollbar is the first place I look.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

All errors displayed with low latency, searchable, grouped, and with all the history and context I need.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Small things with the navigation; the production and staging environments are commingled too easily. I'm usually focused on one or the other. Overall the new navigation is better, and I believe I'll like it more over time.
Overall there's not much to dislike. This is a good tool that provides a lot of win.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

You have a lot to gain, nothing to lose.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly troubleshoot issues. Find issues that didn't come up in testing. Learn new things about our application and environment that we didn't account for.

 ### 9. Awesome features with zero setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fabio N. | Full Stack Developer / Sistemista Senior, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

It works out of the box with majority of programming languages and frameworks. Low effort is required to use advanced features (person tracking, filtering, etc)

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Grouping feature could be improved, it causes different errors to be swallowed by other similar errors

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

You get notified in real time of any kind of code anomaly, unexpected situations and everything before anyone (your customers or your boss) notice that

 ### 10. Great tool for monitoring errors and performance in multiple environments

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mateo N. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

- Great integration with programming frameworks and different environments
- We use Rollbar to track all errors generated both in front and backend in our app
- The deployments section is very useful in a DevOps environment like ours
- The redesign of the webpage is very beautiful and everything is easier to find after that

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

- Instrumentalization is a manual process, so you will have to use Rollbar library to report the errors. Sometimes a little automatization is desirable, at least for exceptions.
- Usually, the search function is not precise and does not return results using only keywords or information that is not in the title of the error.
- The grouping does not work always, so there Items that are highly related but they appear is it was a different error.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Use if you are ready to implement error tracking in your app
Make sure that you have the right team to instrument it, they must know the breaking points of your app

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Track errors on our production app.
- Identify the deployments which cause errors.
- See how many times an error is occurring.
- Separate errors by the environment, so it is possible to know which errors are really affecting the customers.
- Share and assign error to our development team.
- We use as a debugging tool, in Rollbar we can send our app message specifying the message-level.

 ### 11. Great tool! It provides our support team information on where to begin troubleshooting.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evie C. | Director of Business Process, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

The ability to look into the error trace log. We were able to identify the major issues happening in the system. We are able to find out new issues after deployment. It allows us to identify proactively what issues or errors we need to look into by looking at the first started time/date.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Sometimes it over merges errors and causes the title to be misleading. It would be great if there is a better integration with JIRA that we can edit the tickets directly from Rollbar. And if there's a Zendesk support integration, that will be very helpful!

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

If you are looking for a tool to help you monitor the health and errors of your system, Rollbar is a great choice. It's easy to use. It allows us to proactively identify errors that we need to care about.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Rollbar to monitor system errors, troubleshoot by looking at the logs. It allows us to identify proactively what issues or errors we need to look into by looking at the first started time/date.

 ### 12. Best monitoring software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hugo D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Rollbar advantages are multi-faceted but I think the biggest one out there is their RQL interface. I've been a big fan of them since their very San Francisco meetup. I tried some competitors for small projects to try different options in the ecosystem but always ended up migrating them back to Rollbar.

Their interface is one of the simplest to use while still keeping the power user features in there (eg: JSON error grouping configuration).

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

I don't have much to say there. There's always growing pains using software but nothing that has been a dealbreaker while using Rollbar. Everything is very customizable

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Dive Right in!

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Monitor usage, crash, and errors in all our production system (backend, web, native, Cron jobs). Rollbar makes me confident that I'm getting the right reports and that I'm not dropping things.

 ### 13. Helps to proactively monitor and resolve issues

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pradipta S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Exceptions occur. No matter what. Nice way to trace things and very easy to integrate.
Github and Bitbucket plugins work very well and are great.
Querying capacity is very handy and worked likes a charm.
Integration guidelines and API docs are nice and we'll designed.
It has SSO. Don't need to remember credentials.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Duplicates issues are treated as separate.
The UI has a small understanding curve.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Probably add support for other technologies. I had a friend telling me the lack of react/node support.
Customer could customise the UI based on their preference.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Debug errors and catch exceptions on real time.
Saves on time. And helps us proactively monitor and fix stuff.

 ### 14. Great way to organize bug fix workflow

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Terry C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Ability to group similar logs together. Issues tracking is straight-forward and assignments are simple. Switching to rollbar in place of emails cleaned up my inbox and allows me to pinpoint the most commonly occurring issues and triage. Feels like JIRA without the overhead.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Automatic grouping doesn't always work properly; sometimes duplicates are treated as separate issues.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Definitely give the trial a shot if you're on the fence; implementation was straightforward and you'll know pretty quickly whether it's a good fit or not. The free tier is really generous and should be enough for small projects while the base level for the paid product is very reasonably priced.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking issues with user submitted data; problems with data integrity. Tracking bugs across releases and having a centralized repository of issues with their causes allows faster resolutions.

 ### 15. Tool to make an integration of platforms in a versatile way.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Candice E. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

It is a versatile and practical tool, which allows you to stabilize the integration and management of applications that are used by the entire team. Its notifications and alerts are very useful to manage since they all arrive in real time. Achieving stabilize and treat any incident.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Some of the groupings offered by the tool are a little complex to handle and to understand what would be an ideal way to handle it.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integration of tools in a very agile way to manage, managing the entire process of alerts and notifications if there is an incident with any application the alerts will arrive in real time, managing the incident in a short period of time.

 ### 16. Thanks to Rollbar we are able to provide proactive customer support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alfredo A. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Very powerful tracing at an individual level, easy to set up, very advanced querying capabilities, smart errors grouping, telemetry feature is quite powerful, the integration with slack is very good with a native experience. Github integration is also great.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Limited capabilities for filtering slack notifications. Suspect deploys produces a lot of fake positives. Automatic grouping doesn't work so well.
The frontend error tracking is too noisy as it detects also errors out of our scope as the errors provoked by browser extensions, bots, non-supported browsers, etc. This makes the frontend tracking useless as we can't trust the alerts as we do for the rest of the stacks.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Don't use it for logging purposes as it prices per error. Use error categories properly and set as warning those which don't require your immediate attention. Ensure you have all errors under control as once you receive too much notification the service became useless, press special attention to frontend error tracking which generates many unknown errors from browser extensions, bots, and non supported browsers.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Realtime error tracking: it completes our feedback loop to detect errors as soon as we deploy new code. Its deployment integrations make it easier to guess what deploy introduced the bug.
Debugging: the individual level tracing allows us to easily debug reported bugs. It is easy to enrich the errors with customers' properties that we can later filter by.
Proactive customer support: notify customers about errors that probably they haven't noticed but we have already solved.

 ### 17. Real Time Monitoring of PrestaShop eCommerce Clients

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Presta H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

PrestaShop required admin 'enable debug' to expose an issue. So the issue must be recreated as errors are normally not enabled. For us to support our eCommerce clients we wrote in-house integrate of rollbar and run on all our client production and development environments. Knowing there is issue before reported from field adds a valuable service to our clients.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

The UI takes a little getting used to but the team is more comfortable setting up our client environements.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are proactive, we open tasks for each error and some warning to be worked. These add also to our service chargeable. Our client shops are healthy and happy!

 ### 18. Rollbar: The Tool for monitoring your systems and ensuring 24x7 uptime

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

We are an early-stage startup in the payments industry. So, we cannot afford to have downtime or persistent uncaught errors that negatively affect the conversion through our flow. We have been using Rollbar for monitoring our backend service and web application for over 1.5 years now. Here are the things we like best:
1. Extremely easy to set up
2. We can monitor exceptions across different environments and versions of our application.
3. We have configured automated alerts that notify us whenever we have a new exception or the incidence rate of an exception crosses a threshold. This has enabled us to detect issues in our system as well as downstream services within a few minutes of the issue.
4. Unlike most other services, they include SSO as a part of their basic offering.
5. They have integrations with Slack, OpsGenie and other tools that we leverage for building our workflow.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

There is only one thing that I dislike currently. This is an area that Rollbar has been investing but they still need to do more. They need to further improve the detection of the exception's fingerprint, especially when the exception message includes identifiers and/or other helpful parameters in the middle. This results in existing exceptions being incorrectly classified as new ones.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

If you are an early-stage startup and looking for ways to improve your uptimes and user experience, Rollbar is a key weapon in your arsenal.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are an early-stage startup in the payments industry. So, we cannot afford to have downtime or persistent uncaught errors that negatively affect the conversion through our flow. We have been using Rollbar for monitoring our backend service and web application for over 1.5 years now.

It has helped us rapidly identify exceptions in a new version of our code or downtime in one of our downstream partners. We have leveraged the integration with Slack and OpsGenie to ensure that we get alerted within a few minutes of the issue. That has helped us significantly lower the downtime of our service, improve our user experience, and thereby, increase our business.

 ### 19. Evaluating Rollbar using Python Framework Provides easy integration to existing setups.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tyler R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

The ease of importing the rollbar python module makes converting custom error handling and exception handling to notify the Rollbar UI is very easy. The demo required 2 lines to add, and just replacing existing exception handlers was as easy running a search and replace.

The Live Dashboard on the front page is very useful to see if there is an active issue, although having a more granular information on the particular issue (which app/which user/which Ip) on the dashboard would be preferred.

The backtrace information for python was convenient , but it would be nice to also have meta information about the state of the system (current memory usage of app, active threads etc.) or have some post exception hook to auto populate company specific meta-data (i.e. in a microservice system, the state of other microservices or how far into the pipeline the exception occured).

The RQL Shell was something new I hadn't seen before, it seems promising, but would need more data from an evaluation to really know.

The User API was very straightforward, which in all honestly is what would be most likely the selling point to the app, as most of the time we would want to create a custom dashboard/application to view this data, and integrate with existing internal apps.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

As an embedded system developer, I was interested in perhaps having issue tracker that can be integrated easily with C/C++ or even some static library/app that can be compiled and linked in.

It would be great if the same ease of exception handling could be integrated into a C/C++ framework, but it seems like the only route here is to use the "Other" route, requiring a bit more manual work.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The evaluation was to perform a comparison with existing software tracking like Sentry. The out of the box feature set appears richer than the currently used Sentry feature set, and could be interesting to possibly integrate in parallel.

 ### 20. Excellent cross platform error tracking software.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Error tracking across multiple services with custom attributes. Rollbar allows us to see and resolve errors as they happen. Additionally, we can proactively contact our users to let them know that an issue they experienced has been resolved.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Currently, Rollbar does not support the Expo framework for React Native, which we use extensively.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Just use it, you won't regret it! Super easy to setup and manage.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to track errors across multiple applications and services in real time. Additionally, seeing a stack trace with line level error messages is invaluable to maintaining our applications. Users don't always report issues, so it's good to know when and how they happen.

 ### 21. Easy to integrate and easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andreas P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Rollbar was really easy to set up, with good integrations for multiple languages. This was really important for us in order to be able to in a fast and convenient way collect errors from all our services.
Also like the integrations, use both Slack and Jira integrations and they work fantastic.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

I have nothing to complain about, works smooth.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Just go for it

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The best part is that it collects errors in the users clients. But when using it to also track server errors it provides a neat way to investigate issues that might be connected (server/client), to have it all in one place is a big plus.

 ### 22. Simple live site monitoring with super powers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan H. | Web Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

They provide an extremely low bar of entry to add error tracking to your production and staging sites.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Issue resolution & long term tracking can be cumbersome.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have Rollbar set up across our primary properties' production and staging instances. It's been a life saver identifying system outages before Twitter does and finding buggy code before we deploy it. We can set up a new site in rollbar in less than a minute. And our entire dev team across skill levels instantly understood how to interpret errors and respond to them.

Rollbar has helped us by alerting us to API and integration outages within seconds of the problem occurring. Without their alerts, we would have relied on either a fellow employee or the Twitterverse reporting the issue. They let us avoid all kinds of eggs from hitting our face like we used to have.

We've also folded Rollbar into our continuous delivery system. We can track errors on our staging sites to catch early problems and can easily identify errors that pop up only because code is 1/2 deployed. (and thus that don't require all-hands-on-deck).

 ### 23. Rollbar is the Alert Station we need it to be

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard C. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

I like that it alerts for an error, then the 10th error, the 100th error and so on. This allows me to go from seeing an error report to knowing that something big is breaking.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

I don't have any particular problems with Rollbar - it's a great service and it's perfect at what it does.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

We use Python on our backend and it was a very easy implementation, getting Rollar setup for our site. The free plan is fine but the paid plan is quite affordable and definitely worth it since you get a generous cap on the number of issues you can have monthly. The quality of the integrations is superb and there's nothing in my Rollbar experience that would cause me to look at alternatives.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to know when a major problem has hit the site (in our case, server errors causing the site to crash) and where that problem originated. The stack traces and information available from Rollbar are wonderful.

 ### 24. Invaluable error management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alastair M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Easy to organise our error logs into projects and filter by environment, runtime information, etc. Stack trace analysis imported from our source control makes it easy to find the exact function and arguments which caused a particular error.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Interface can be a little confusing at first, errors sometimes get grouped under an unrelated error header meaning you have to go into view occurrences to see the actual message.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralised error management! We've been able to easily customise our alerts to reduce noise and respond to the errors that actually matter.

 ### 25. With rollbar we can always know about errors in production at the exact moment they happen.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amiram K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Errors grouping. Rich data about the error, the user and the version, much more than I could know by my own logging system. Finding the cause of the error is super simple. Rollbar supports almost all environments that exist.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Nothing. Everything is great. I used Rollbar in several places I worked.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solve all problems with Rollbar. The big benefit is the easy discovery of the cause of the error, and the amount of time until knowing there is an error which is almost zero.

 ### 26. Easy to use, powerful tool that makes error reporting simple

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joe M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Easy to use and setup. Becomes extremely powerful as-and-when needed.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

At a smaller size, the pricing can be harder to work with. We have found that we have moved up and down between free plans as our usage varied seasonally, which meant a small amount of additional work was needed to monitor this.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Look into using Rollbar for event monitoring as well as error monitoring. Rollbar is a powerful tool to analyse the number and type of events occurring over a given period of time, and for organisations where period programs/scripts are run regularly this can provide easier monitoring.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Effectively analysing and identify errors and events fast. Allowing anyone in our company to have easy access to production system monitoring. Analysing the cause of errors/issues by integrating with our continuous integration pipeline.

 ### 27. Great service to manage exceptions of your application

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

- auto grouping exceptions and show the information in one place, see the information in 1 place
- integrate deployment, see what's the new exception after the latest deployment
- easy to install anywhere

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

- RQL is hard to use, and the document is not clearly enough to search the information I needed. (Seems it's revised! 👍🏻)
- Search function is not powerful, if you want to search by a keyword, you may find nothing out.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- catch the exception that user faced, such as race condition, request to external API failed.
- I think the most benefit is that I don't handle and manage these exceptions at all! It saves a lot of time, I don't need to build another system to store these logs. On the other hand, I can easily catch exceptions in my application code (and mark as different level) just 1 line of code. Then it'll show on the web page with a readable and beautiful UI.

 ### 28. Underrated error tracker

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ucchishta S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Telemetry details & error item page with detailed information especially Tracebacks. Gianina from Rollbar Support was really helpful with debugging sourcemap issues.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Not being able to customize time & date range when looking at errors.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Just try it!

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Telemetry allows us to trace back the steps of our users before any errors/exceptions were thrown. That helps us understand our users need better and help us improve the experience of our app.

 ### 29. A superb way to find JS & PHP bugs without apache/nginx logs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

The interface is very intuitive. You can see your errors in chronological order and filter by environment or language (eg PHP errors). Rollbar also pushes these errors into Slack in realtime which means we are very quickly alerted to any issues.

We've used it for a number of years now - and we all sleep better at night, particularly just after deploying new updates to our site.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Honestly, I can't think of anything. The pricing structure makes it affordable and I've never had an issue with it. Surely there must be something, you ask? There must - but right now nothing comes to mind!

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to alert us to any JS or PHP errors. Even silly bugs that you can't believe are part of your site quickly get found - and then we can go and fix it. Peace of mind is the best aspect of Rollbar.

 ### 30. Gives you what you need

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Out of the box, rollbar does a good job of presenting errors in a human-digestible manner. It makes sure that 100 of the same error is properly packaged and presented as "this error, 100 times" rather than 100 CTAs.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

I found it challenging to set up specific identifiers for hosts / application instances, so that it wasn't always clear which instance of our application had generated an error. User identification works out of the box which is nice, but I was less successful with application instance identification.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used rollbar for error reporting across a multi-instance cloud-hosted SaaS platform. It makes errors much more visible, and the site tools make it much easier to correlate errors to deploys.

 ### 31. Fantastic Debugging Tool with Peace of Mind

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

I like the Integration options and ease of use!

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

My least favorite thing is the lack of BitBucket Pipeline support. I had to write a manual integration with BitBucket Pipelines for CI and it would have been awesome if there was already a bitbucket-pipelines.py sample file to go from.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

I was amazed at the simplicity of Rollbar to setup and integrate with existing products!

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Random client issues and assured compatibility across all devices.

 ### 32. Rollbar is really awesome

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rex B. | Senior Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

They have very simple API for integration and really does well in tracking the errors. The pricing is also good and fit for startup companies.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

I can say that so far for a year of using it, I haven't had any issue.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Try RollBar now and see its awesomeness

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps you easily trace the issue because of the details, browser, people. It helps you trim down the issue to its source.

 ### 33. Don't know how I lived without it.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brad D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Being able to see all the in sites to what is happening in the code is invaluable. The amount of detail it provides for an error is very useful, such as full stack reports from within mobile apps. The cross platform ability is top notch. The fact that we can drop this SDK into our Java backend, JS front end, and both Android and iOS mobile apps makes tracking all errors across all platforms the best. I can't believe I went years without this, I'll never write a new project without integrating Rollbar from the start.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Trying to organize all the error reports. It takes some time to figure out how everything gets reported and the best way to structure all the errors. Once you do though it's worth it.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Just give it a try. It takes a bit to get setup and going, but once your going you'll wonder how you lived without it.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to see errors in production in real-time is helping us to fix bugs before users can even report them. Often users are seeing critical errors that would prevent them from using the product and not even report it. With this we can fix it and keep users happy.

 ### 34. Easy to get what you need, flexible enough for custom solutions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuel K. | Founder & Lead Software Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Easy API integration and affordable pricing. From the time we set up a Rollbar account, we were getting basic functionality within a day and a complete replacement for a previous solution within a month.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Better Gitlab integration would be a plus but it's already improved over the last year or so.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We replaced an email-based issue tracker with Rollbar for software exception catching. Rollbar's ability to group like issues together has cut down on our email volume tremendously.

Even for a small team, we benefit from Rollbar's project-based approach since we can handle notifications based on the software being used instead of having everything land in one place.

 ### 35. Easy to Implement, Solid Traces, Eyes on the microservices we sometimes neglect

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Clear traces and different levels of urgency for each error.
I also like the ability to resolve an error so if you think you squashed a bug, you can fire a new slack notification should it occur again.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

I think comments could be displayed more prevalently instead of at the bottom of the page.
Occasionally I get trapped in an environment/project that isn't what I expect. It's user error, but it happens.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Monitoring a monolith with a number of microservices that otherwise wouldn't get much attention.

 ### 36. Not just another logger

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pieter V. | Principal software engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Grouping by log messages and data. Version control via deployment updates and source maps

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Limit on amount of logs vs log size. Not the cheapest out there

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Try it out. You won't want to go back

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can easily see from a birds eye view which bugs to tackle first as they are ranked by occurrence

 ### 37. Indispensable service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rustam G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 03, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Easy to use, fast events tracking, monitoring and searching service. I use it every day and I must say it pays off each cent. I used other error tracking services before and must admit that Rollbar is the best. Also it was easy to integrate events tracking into our application.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

There're none. All things work perfectly.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Integrate it in your app, your tracker and github account to reveal the power of events and errors flow tracking and monitoring.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I monitor events and errors through deploys, extract some data from occurences using rql, create tickets in bug tracking system just from Rollbar interface.

 ### 38. I love that Rollbar handles our app exception firehose.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Apparel & Fashion | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

I like that we can dump all our thousands of errors into rollbar and it alerts and manages resolving for fixing our app errors. I also like that you can track deploys and resolve Rollbar errors with deployed commits.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Some of our more spammy errors like 404s we've just learned to ignore. But really this is more of a dislike of our own code since we should just quiet those exceptions.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

It will ease headaches knowing about, tracking down, and resolving exceptions in your live code that you otherwise might not have known were even there.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have no idea right now how we would intelligently look through all of our exceptions without Rollbar. It's one of the first things that alerts us and during any big deploys we all bring up the Items page to watch any errors in realtime.

 ### 39. Friendly pricing, easy integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sankalp S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Simplicity of UI and checks and policies which are through and through customer friendly.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Nothing in particular. Everything seems to be well thought out.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Make sure you use it in all the right spots. Helps a lot in triangulating bugs when done right

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralised error logging. Benefits include impeccable bug management, traceability and delegation

 ### 40. Rollbar is a good tool for reviewing, tracking frequency, getting notified when errors occur.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Being able to see the frequency with which an error occurs.

Being able to tell when an error re-appeared after removal.

Linking with Jira, Source Control and Slack.

Summary of analytics for an error is really useful.

The new interface looks really good.

I had wanted integration with source control for a while and now that's a reality!

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Not being able to search by level in stack trace. It would be nice to be able to filter for errors that pass through a certain line in a stack trace.

Absence of in-built dark theme.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

In the event you're working with external integrations, create custom exceptions, they really help in the tracking of the errors.

Solve the most noisy errors first to clear up the scene for rarer but probably more critical errors.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking and analysing frequency of errors.

 ### 41. Robust error reporting that threads the needle on who is impacted, and reduces much of the noise.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron W. | Founder / CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Overall as an error reporting service, it works really well! Grouping, identifying people impacted, escalating issues into ticket trackers, keeping our team informed via the Slack integration - it's a critical piece of our dev-ops workflows.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

I like the people-impacted feature so much I wish they'd take it further! You can't quite clear out resolved issues from a person's history, and can't group people by customer account.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem of error collection at scale, and circling up with impacted customers when errors occur, or fixes are deployed. We have many moving parts, and Rollbar has helped us keep each operating cleanly.

 ### 42. Good to use, out of the box error monitoring

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christoph F. | Lead Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 08, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

It's mostly out of the box working. There are good and much documentation online as well as use-case scenarios and solutions

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Missing documentation about the core error tracking library for JS. Needed to look into the code to see what parameters are acceptable.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simple out of the box error monitoring

 ### 43. Rollbar is a must have tool for developers and devops

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tiago G. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

It makes our best safer following each incident on every project we develop, using their logs

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

The navigation between on Rollbar interface would be better

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not just catching errors, we use Rollbar to debug actions and detect what is happening on remote enviroments

 ### 44. An excellent tool for exception handling

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Charles K. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Roll we does a great job of grouping errors so they are not overwhelming.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Rollbar stack traces are sometimes difficult to navigate.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Use it!

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use rollbar to quickly identify errors via slack integrations. Any types of runtime errors. We also use rollbar to diagnose errors.

 ### 45. Rollbar is a essential tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tecnologia P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

We know every fail on our clients side, immediately. We are always updated about things.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

When it group occurrences by title and it's not the exact same item.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We save hours of work knowing the errors sooner and seeing the detailed error trace.

 ### 46. Works great out of the box

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Set up was easy - plugins and ample documentation was available for the platforms I'm using (Rails, Node). The Slack integration is also highly configurable which help me to increase the visibility of truly urgent issues. Stack traces linking back to GitHub also makes debugging much faster.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

While error grouping has improved, I still do have to manually group items occasionally. It can also be confusing to know what filters are applied in the Rollbar UI - I've accidentally reviewed items that had already been resolved more than once.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rollbar keeps me up to date on any issues I'm having in production and helps me to triage the most urgent ones. The Rails plugin in particular is typically able to capture more than an enough information to identify issues.

 ### 47. Compliant Error Monitoring

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael D. | Chief Technology Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

The ability to see all our applications and services reported across an easy-to-use dashboard is critical to us being able to maintain/improve our MTTD. Knowing that our data is safe and compliant (HIPAA) with Rollbar was a crucial differentiator for us.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

It's not always as seamless as we'd like with getting users added to the projects they need access to without administrative action. Adding a deeper integration with SSO to do this would be awesome and save us a bit of work with on-boarding of users and projects.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The consolidated view across our services allows us to get a full-picture view of how exceptions or crashes could be related and how they might be cascading through our system.

 ### 48. So far so good

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Interaction with Slack
SDK golang
SSO Google

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Maybe Web UI design is not enough modern

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automatic alarm via slack or other webhook.
Multi Environment support
SDK up to date

 ### 49. Easy to grasp for new users

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

I recently joined the software industry and it was really easy to use and gave very quick important tracking capabilities.

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

Nothing yet. Would share feedback personally in case I need to suggest some improvements.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Definitely try it. Delight to use and begin with.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work on an app used by millions of users across the globe. It helped me be prompt in my response to any production errors, assign them quickly and fix It to keep up the user experience.

 ### 50. Simple and efficient to keep track of issues

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Civic & Social Organization | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Rollbar?**

Rollbar represents the errors in a form of graphs. You can monitor the number of bug occurrence, the number of affected IPs, the severity of errors, etc. The option of capturing the errors is available. There are a few more which we like:

- Seamless integration with Github to pin point the corresponding code
- Ability to identify user and link with our internal system via session and user agent
- Ability to have team and users
- Ability to assign issues to certain users
- In-dept root cause analysis of the error to resolve it quickly
- Get details like Line of Code, Stack Trace, HTTP information and request data
- Get list of customers facing the issue
- Analyze journey customer took which caused issue
- Acquire list of users affected by an error
- Get number of sessions disrupted by an error
- Get historical insights of issue occurrence
- Track individual issue over period of time
- Manage issue status and issue owner
- Real-time alert (smart & customized) at the time of issue occurrence

**What do you dislike about Rollbar?**

The projects and environment navigation should be searchable, right now the list is too long if you have many apps.

I could not debug the errors in prod and identify them (environment, description, software, Url, session data, etc.). It helps to understand whether the bug should be fixed or not.

Pricing: Rollbar has a free version (up to 5,000 events per month). Its cost varies according to the required functional – from 49$ up to 599$ per month. The cost is variable based on what you need. We would prefer a simple whole package pricing with discount.

**Recommendations to others considering Rollbar:**

Rollbar APM should support almost all languages and platforms. Their pricing should work with you, we use Rollbar when we were a small startup then grew to a few hundred employees.

Rollbar supports the following languages: Rails, PHP, Python, Angular, iOS, Haskell, Ruby, Node.js, Django, Drupal, Clojure, etc.

**What problems is Rollbar solving and how is that benefiting you?**

real time bug tracking and notification, then assign the issue to the correct people or team to triage further
