The best thing about microfocus visual cobol is it's integration with various RDBMS and ability to get deployed on various OS which helps to reuse the cobol code efficiently. Sometimes I have faced performance issues with microfocus when I was trying to run integrated cobol applications and system was taking the maximum CPU usage. Microfocus COBOL is same as legacy COBOL but it does provide an IDE environment which is easy to work with.
