For my visualization videos, it's much easier to record the video on Riverside then jump over to iMovie to finish adding looped music and removing video for dark screen. I'd also like better b-roll footage. I've decided not to use it with the clips it currently offers (mostly male-dominated executives that often don't match the narrative of my podcasts and Shorts.). We initially selected Riverside just as a recording platform and edited off of the platform but I have to say with the exception of a few tweaks we edit all of our YouTube episodes and 90% of the audio episode right inside the Riverside editor. It's that good. Audio sweetening, color correction, captions, formatting. It's all there and it's snappy and responsive. **What do you dislike about Riverside?** Live streaming to YouTube and FB isn't always the most intuitive process but some of this is due to limitations of those platforms specifically. **What problems is Riverside solving and how is that benefiting you?** My problem was how to record remote sessions from halfway across the country and keep the quality of the video and audio high. I appreciate being able to add my clients' branding to videos, and the audio enhancement is awesome. The recording quality is very high, and the videos come out sharp and crisp. **What do you dislike about Riverside?** It is not as good at audio editing. While I now use video in addition to the regular podcasts, the flow of audio for video and audio-only is very different. The editing tools that remove filler words and pauses require extra editing on my part to create the smooth sound I want for the podcasts. Also, it decides what "filler words" are, and I would like the option to add a list of words and phrases that I can flag. For instance, "I think that," "I mean," "And" at the beginning of a sentence. I can, of course, do this through the search function, but that is cumbersome. The AI assistant that can produce text and thumbnails is just ok. It could be much better. As a result, I either edit a lot of what it suggests or I use ChatGPT or Gemini. There is another issue I have been trying to bring to Riverside's attention. They are very good at responding to support issues, but I cannot get anyone to respond to this dilemma I have. Riverside is Israeli-owned, and some of my clients and their guests, because of political reasons, have reservations about working with companies out of Israel. Riverside is not on any of the "boycott" lists, but my clients want assurances that Riverside is not connected with the Israeli government or actions in Palestine. From what I can tell, it is not. It is a good product, and the people running it may hold personal political beliefs, but the platform and the company seem neutral on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. I need to provide more assurances to my clients, but I cannot until I hear from someone in Riverside management. While I have not endeavored to make more complex videos involving multiple cuts and scenes, it has been perfect for long recorded shoots of the same speakers. Video quality output is always excellent. Real-time recording and editing doesn't use the full resolution that will apply to your final exported project. This means you're freeing RAM to do your studio work and recording. Final exports are usually ready in under 10 minutes. The software team are always quick to respond to any driver errors or outages and keep users updated with multiple real-time notifications. I have NEVER lost work or a recording after using the software for 7 months. Integrating with other platforms for direct upload and publishing continues to improve every month with new platforms as options. For example, you can now post Youtube and Youtube Shorts directly from Riverside studio so there's no extra downloading and uploading. Big time saver and guarantees quality. It's well priced for what you get! Better than hiring someone to do all this work for you or sub-contracting and waiting on their schedule. **What do you dislike about Riverside?** Perhaps not what a traditional creative or producer, who wants to control EVERY aspect and detail, would prefer. Cutting and pasting in the editing process lags at times. There is no way to change volume levels for music with timing cues. With a more complex editor you would be able to fade volumes up and down at chosen points; this currently is not an available feature. It would also better to be able to turn off AI suggestions and created content from automatic to requested. Scheduling sessions using the Riverside calendar should not be a feature behind the paywall. With a low-tier membership you can still only schedule 3 events at a time so you'll need to plan your recordings on an external calendar of some kind.
