I’ve found several problems that seem to come from poor device management at times, and support can take a while to acknowledge the issue and actually resolve it. integrations arent as clear as one would want, the ia support is helfull but take to long to contact the real support sometimes. ux is bad until you understand how rippling structure works **What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?** My main problems are managing devices and account settings, and being able to see the device specs and other details. The main benefit is that I don’t need to keep track of all the passwords and settings myself. We are 6 weeks in and can't get someone on the phone to help. We just get pushed to the support case process. This is great for a non critical issue, but what happens when you have a payroll issue. 24 plus hours doesn't cut it. **What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?** IT security, including identity and access management, is a huge benefit. As a result, I end up having to contact customer support, which isn’t great. It requires you to build out different portions and reports yourself. There's very little that is already set up in Rippling. The system itself seems to be designed for smaller companies. Rippling has been very complicated in our integration and still isn't fully finished over six months later. The initial setup was not easy at all. It solves the problem of having payroll automated across multiple entities. I appreciate that it's not like every other site that is moving to what seems like a default mobile view where everything is so enlarged that it doesn't work well on a computer. - The chatbot is a great idea and most of the time helpful for what you're trying to do, assuming it can be done. - Workflow studio and automation is a great idea. **What do you dislike about Rippling?** - The constant selling is annoying. I learned early on that the account manager is just another salesperson to pitch more products. There are product ad windows on every page you open. Menu tabs have, you guessed it, ads promoting products you don't have. - The cool stuff they show you in the demo is available if you buy the pro version. The price that's comparable to other payroll/HRIS platforms is severely limited. For example, you get 1 custom field. Rippling doesn't have 'Last name, First Name' as a field somehow which is how I want every single report, so I made it with the custom field and now have 0. You can customize the homepage and app apparently now with your colors and logos, but only if you're on the pro version. - Rippling will not process HSA payments for you. What???!!! This is a basic feature of every single payroll system ever. Our team has HSA bank accounts they've had for years and Rippling will not do it. The most frustrating part is the system can obviously handle it (as they do any direct deposit), but they won't. Of course they never will either, because Rippling wants you to buy their HSA platform. We don't need it and don't want it. So after 37 years, our payroll processing has now become more complex than ever, because it takes an HR manager to run payroll and a Controller to manually do HSA deposits through Sage internally. Absolutely ridiculous. - Our temps work week is Sunday to Saturday. You can't change their workweek in Rippling, it's always Monday to Sunday, so forget about making a simple report for timecards, you have to manually hop back and forth between weeks and make it in Excel. - The biggest reason we switched from our previous provider was for the performance review capabilities. We do 360 reviews with peer reviews connected to them. The process actually works okay, we have people fill out 8-25 questions based on the position. Ready for the kicker? The end result is a PDF file that is a couple hundred pages long because each person's review is listed question by question, and only 2 questions per page. Inside the actual review cycle is a view where they compile the results in a visual manner that is actually useful. This is completely useless and represents additional manual work for us again. - We were also told you can automatically schedule reviews. Maybe that's possible to some level, but launching reviews connected to a position template and scheduled on anniversary date is not possible. - The system goes down occasionally. I understand once a year? Maybe twice a year? Anything that is monthly or more frequently is unacceptable when people rely on this for punching in and out. - We have a local tax. Rippling does not let you change exemptions for local taxes. Completely clueless as to why. - If you do a special payroll (bonus, etc.), you cannot block specific accounts for direct deposit. Many people split their normal paycheck for bill pay. You also cannot block child support notices for special payrolls. If a CSN isn't in arrears you don't have to pay the child support in Michigan. Well, Rippling says they follow the laws and don't let you modify them. They're wrong, and the solution is to delete them and readd them back in after you process.... - We pay for time and attendance and want to set up flags if somebody clocks in late or early. Well that's not part of T&A, that's part of scheduling. So we could buy scheduling to accomplish that, but the problem is nobody's schedule ever changes here, so it's just something we can't do. - There are a couple of very specific things we do with overtime modifications to timecards that we wanted built into the system. It would be unique, so while I'm not surprised Rippling doesn't come across it and don't knock them for it, I will share that ADP and Paylocity figured out how to do it for us. It would be better if notes could be directly copied and pasted on timesheets. It has become very reliant on artificial intelligence and overseas workers. There are many issues we just can’t seem to get resolved. They have stopped reporting our new hires and we are now being told that it will be 6 weeks to resolve their error. I was able to get a headstart on my taxes this year. Every single feature is a buy-up. You will invest THOUSANDS and still not have all the features you think you are getting. Be wary of the app package as OKTA is yet another buy-up on top of what you already invested. Our implementation manager was woefully unprepared for the challenges of transitioning us off a non-legacy system and didn't even bother to show her face on Zoom until 60 days in. They didn't turn E-verify on for months even after numerous complaints that it was nonoperational. Support is so hit or miss and be wary as they are apt to give wrong information. Although if you do get a person that is helpful request a Zoom meeting it's much more beneficial that way. I'd also be mindful of investing in their benefits as you will get little to no support from your CSM on very challenging and often confusing issues, instead, you will be fed "articles" from the help library as a way to not have to deal with you. I see now that using their benefits over a traditional broker is an epic mistake. The onboarding flow is great and this platform's saving grace. The Learning Management tool has a lot of issues and is very clunky. Requested feature requests will go into a black hole and not be answered. Overall an expensive system that requires constant buy-ups and a support staff that is overall incredibly hit or miss. **What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?** Automating onboarding for a remote team ### 21. Rippling definitely gives start up vibes **Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2022 **What do you like best about Rippling?** The best part of Rippling, is that my employees can access their HR information, payroll, and benefits all in one platform. The UI is generally easy to navigate and so there is no training required for new employees. **What do you dislike about Rippling?** As the HR admin for our account, I am generally disappointed with Rippling. The system is not as intuitive as I would like for it to be. Rippling def has start-up vibes - features are few. It is not as built out as the previous systems that I have used. A few things that I dislike the most: 1. Customer Support - You're only options are to email or chat. When you reach out to support, they reply with the exact same answer that I've already found in their help center. However, many of their help center articles are out of date or just simply do not give you the answer you need. The CS team seems incapable of providing any additional support outside of what is in the articles, and so I usually just end up frustrated and giving up. 2. Permissions - The permission settings are not easy to navigate or set up for those that need very specific access. 3. Reports - only full admins can share reports. So, my Finance lead cannot create and then share appropriate reports with his team. 4. There is no forgiveness. If you make a mistake updating an employee's profile, or sending out documents, you CANNOT undo it. I made the mistake of testing out sending some documents to myself, and now I have a bunch of random, incorrect documents in my employee profile. They cannot be deleted (even Rippling won't delete them). My HR coordinator made some errors in updating info on several employees' profiles, and it cannot be undone, so now the employee's histories are inaccurate. CS cannot/will not assist. 5. Workflows. I've never used a system that did not have workflows or the ability to set up alerts. Rippling now has this, but charges $$$ to be able to use them. The purpose of an HRIS is to eliminate manual processes and without forking over a ton of money, you cannot use this feature. 6. Overall cost. The cost for the basic system is pretty decent. But, if you want any of the extra features (which in my experience, were standard features in other HR systems), you will have to pay a lot more. In short, I would not choose to use Rippling again. **Recommendations to others considering Rippling:** Talk to other companies/HR professionals who use Rippling before committing. **What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?** Is it technically an HRIS that eliminates file cabinets of paperwork? Yes. ### 23. CS agents hardly ever properly read requests, just forward standard answers. Would have expected much more. Also, as a small company getting insurance via their network is almost impossible. **What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?** Managing HR processes like tax payments. ### 24. Used to be scalable and cost effective on admin time **Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Lydia R. | Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2021 **What do you like best about Rippling?** Used to be great at the transition from other payroll platforms, flexible and efficient benefits administration options, segmentation of payroll journal entries, lots of integrations and API, full integration of all HR functions in one scalable platform for a great employee and administrative experience. Also used to have great support and follow-up to resolve issues. The technology still all exists, but has become less reliable and issues are not resolved in a timely manner. **What do you dislike about Rippling?** I'm not sure what's changed in the last 6 months - but we've experienced: incorrect payroll filings and payments resulting in late fees and penalties and multiple follow-ups needed over months to resolve, their FSA partner made huge errors in rollover amounts and account balances and even processed expenses incorrectly and took several months to resolve and required multiple follow-ups. It's incredibly disappointing - Rippling technology still seems good, but if something goes wrong, unfortunately, their internal teams no longer seem to take ownership of resolving the issue. Rippling also allows you to process payroll without all state filings complete - which used to be another big 'pro' in their win column because sometimes state and municipal agencies have a lengthy process to register. They still allow you to do this - but if a filing is late due to not having the correct information, they will make one attempt to file without the complete information and if it fails, they can make another attempt for a $350 fee or you can file yourself. Their support has declined and additional fees are being added to complete what used to be a part of their basic service package. I will be holding off on recommending Rippling to any clients for the time being until there is a meaningful change in their support model and fewer critical errors in their systems. **Recommendations to others considering Rippling:** Rippling is the best scalable solution to create enough flexibility to allow your business to grow while creating enough structure to make administration and management of HR streamlined, efficient, and cost-effective. **What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rippling's ease of use for both employees and administrators lowers the level of knowledge needed to maintain compliance, manage benefits, recruit, hire, and offboard employees. The fact that any broker can use their benefits admin platform makes them one of the most flexible and scalable options in the marketplace. ### 25. The idea is there and I think it has incredible potential but it still has many flaws. The HR 360 app that can integrate with the system is fantastic. **What do you dislike about Rippling?** There is NO actual place to call into if you have immediate issues that need to be solved. There is only email support and considering I am on the East Coast there is a huge lag in response time. There have been many errors in the system thus far that are never fixed immediately. Also, the cost of equipment they offer is higher than what I am able to get from other online or in store vendors, which really does not make much sense to me. **Recommendations to others considering Rippling:** Ask a lot of questions. **What problems is Rippling solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was supposed to have my time dealing with benefits and payroll reduced. It was meant to be more simplistic and streamlined. I find myself solving more issues within the system than I ever had to before.
