This process used to take me a couple of days every month in QBO and is now fully automated in Rillet. All that Stripe data also feeds into their reporting module which now allows us to track ARR very closely already over the course of the month and have a sense of where the month will end up. On the accounting side Rillet also has revenue and prepaid schedules directly embedded in the software which automates my work there. Overall the UI is pretty slick and the team has been very helpful answering our questions and helping with the implementatino and catering for the nuances of our business. " **What do you dislike about Rillet?** Biggest area of improvement for them are integrations. We have Navan and bill.com, and while they have a purpose built upload that part still requires more manual work than it used to on QBO. **What problems is Rillet solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Rillet to close our books every month and for financial reporting. Key problem it solves for us is the Stripe integration which helps on both the ongoing accounting work as well as better reporting and revenue recognition. ### 6. Rillet is the first accounting software that has the concept of contracts built right into the product. This makes ASC 606 compliance a dream. With seamless integration with Stripe & Ramp, our month-end close practically runs itself. All our prepaids expenses and revenue recognition are done automatically. The reporting should also be mentioned. All the golden SaaS metrics are calculated and built right into the software, eliminating the headache of finding another point solution for our reporting needs. The SaaS P&L is also a favorite. Having a native report breaking down our P&L by cost centers is a game changer. One last thing should be mentioned is the customer support and onboarding experience has been wonderful. Kristen and Laryssa were extremely helpful with getting us setup on Rillet, and it was very refreshing to have people with an accounting background involved setting up an accounting software. **What do you dislike about Rillet?** Limited integration. Rillet suffers from what most new software suffers from, which is limited integration. This is something will likely change in time. I will say the level automation will likely vary based on your tech stack. If you already have Salesforce, Stripe, and Ramp you will likely get the most out of the software. If you have different solutions, Rillet will still work, but you wont see the “magical” automation that it can offer. **What problems is Rillet solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rillet has SaaS first accounting solutions and outstanding reporting. It is refeshing to see accounting software assist this unique industry. ### 7. There has been an adjusting period coming from QBO but once you get the hang of it it's really intuitive. They make revenue recognition really easy (including recognizing usage revenue) with their built-in schedules and our customers really appreciate the whole SaaS metrics section they have. So me doing the revenue work for GAAP accounting directly gives my customer insight into their ARR, burn multiples, and many more. I love their native Stripe integration which makes all the reconciliation work with Stripe really easy. I also appreciate their ability to schedule prepaids, that's one less supporting sheet for us to maintain. Their team is great to work with and have helped with the full implementation of the software. The rate at which they roll out new features is exciting" **What do you dislike about Rillet?** Some of the drill-in views are a little clumsy to get into Excel. They added bill pay to their Ramp integration capabilities a few months ago which is helpful, that part was manual before **What problems is Rillet solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Rillet as the GL for some of our saas customers. They've clearly built Rillet with accountants in mind, I was so excited to see their prepaid functionality, it's such a simple feature and it helps save a bit of time every month. They also integrate natively with Expensify and some other tools we use. Rillet support multi-currency seamlessly which has been important for one of our customers. I've seen Rillet from the earliest of days and am excited to see the product grow further! **What do you dislike about Rillet?** I'm hoping they can bring out multi-entity consolidation soon, we've been talking to them about it and it would help a lot for our customers that have international footprints or multiple entities in the US, that's the biggest feature request I have for them **What problems is Rillet solving and how is that benefiting you?** Closing the books, recognizing revenue, transaction coding - basically the full book close cycle for some of our SaaS customers ### 9. It's become easy for me to reconcile our accounting with the metrics side of the house that we need to prep for our board meetings. Most numbers are fully drillable which makes it really easy to understand the fluctuations and double check if something looks off. I like their implementation team a lot, they were very helpful in getting us started. Simple way to build basics of finance function for a team where the founders have to do it all. Balance sheet, income statement, cash flow just work, nice for handling investor requests. Very simple to bridge from the accounting function into invoicing for our SaaS model. Team is great to work with, respond quickly and hanlde bumps well. **What do you dislike about Rillet?** Not always easy to track transactions and categorization for a non-finance person, little more slice and dice on reporting would be nice. Couple bumps with access to data in some of our systems, but team handled the issues well. Mobile experience needs some love. **What problems is Rillet solving and how is that benefiting you?** Needed to get accounting off the ground with zero finance background, eventually turned into the problem of gather and recognizing revenue. Solves the problem on both accounts. ### 11. Rillet has finally changed that, and has done so by building an incredibly intelligent/connected modern ERP from the ground up. Rillet is data-forward, incredibly intuitive, and uses integrations with upstream systems to both better inform your GL (and therefore your business) but also automate aspects of your accounting process that have historically been manual (prepaids, deferred rev, etc.). In addition to standard reports (P&L, BS, Agings, etc.), it has out of the box SaaS KPIs and other reports allowing you to dive deep into the makeup of your most important business metrics (and they actually work/reflect reality). Everything loads instantly so there is no waiting around as you're trying to locate support for a transaction, and its customizeable to best capture your business. One of the smartest things about Rillet is their implementation strategy. The worst part of any Finance operators job is having to do a tightly orchestrated ERP migration with no turning back and no room for error. The Rillet folks solved that by integrating with your existing ERP (in my case, quickbooks) and running it as a mirror image until you're ready to do your first close in Rillet. It was a totally seamless, no-risk switch from quickbooks to Rillet and we always had our up-to-date quickbooks instance there if we needed a fallback (we didn't, and ended up sunsetting quickbooks 30 days later). We signed in June and did our first close in Rillet in August. Their team may be small but they are mighty! They innovate at an incredibly rapid pace and listen to what their customers need as a first order priority. We had a small feature we wanted to see and it was released within a week. Whether you're a founder looking for your first ERP, a quickbooks user thinking there's no alternative, or you've outgrown your first ERP and are thinking you need to jump up to Netsuite, then Rillet is perfect for you. **What do you dislike about Rillet?** As they are only a few years old they still have a lot ahead of them to build. The core product is fully functional and reliable as an ERP, but it would be great to see additional modules, like an AP processing solution, mutli-entity consolidation (they do support multi-entity currently, but no consolidation. I know they're working on it!), Employee Expense, etc. **What problems is Rillet solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use it as our core ERP/GL. It handles the whole MEC cycle and automates many aspects of the close process. It also is useful for its business KPIs (MRR, etc.) and makes it painless to jump into financial statements to find drivers/changes/flux issues ### 12. The integrations save me a lot of time, for example, the system syncs Hubspot contracts in regularly and the contracts come in in a pending review state. I then check and approve them into the system and all revenue entries are booked automatically. I also use Rilet for invoicing and invoice reminders. They recently added new functionality to customize subject lines and the body of the text which was very useful. The Rillet team is amazing and their responsiveness is unmatched. They helped set up our SaaS P&L and more generally managed to help us get fully set up on the system. Rillet's intuitive to use and the UI is very modern. **What do you dislike about Rillet?** The implementation mid-quarter caused a bit of a headache reconciling our old QBO account with Rillet and making sure the data was consistent between the two I'd also love for the drill-down views in the income statement to be better exportable and see a click-down view of their bookings report **What problems is Rillet solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Rillet for invoicing of our customers, our month-end close and reporting of financials as well as some of the SaaS metrics. ### 13. It helps immensly to have the revenue recognition automated in the GL and I love the revenue waterfall, makes it really easy to forecast off from and helps me save hours every month trying to back into manual revenue journal entries by the team. It's also the first time that I see a GL be able to generate ARR fully automatically off the financial ledger data and if I need to make a change or customization to the ARR I can easily do that in the software to keep track of everything. The integration with Salesforce also makes it really easy to compare against the data in the CRM. Xero is clunky and pretty inefficient to use especially if you have a lot of revenue from recurring SaaS contracts and otherwise a pretty simple business model. Rillet's product is for all user types and they are constantly building new functionality quickly and consistently. Rillet absorbs the complexities within Accounting and Finance functions and simplifies it in a way that streamlines business processes and reporting. Overall, the UX/UI is very clean, visually appealing, and the product is easy to learn. Rillet's functionality and integrations also allows us to consolidate software spend, which resulted in reducing costs in other areas. While there are always internal challenges anytime a Company/team is adapting a new software, the Rillet team responds very quickly if any complexities or issues arrise. **What problems is Rillet solving and how is that benefiting you?** A lot of AP and revenue recognition tools are difficult to navigate and high cost. The product also absorbs and streamlines previous manual processes over transaction level data. The fact that the functionality is built into the GL helps avoid reconciliation differences and reduces software spend. Specifically, I love the invoicing and revenue recognition module because it takes away the previous manual pain points and allows us to bill efficiently, process vendor invoices quickly and timely, and streamline our month close process through automated revenue recognition. Additionally, the datalab is powerful to run ad-hoc analyses and produce complete and accurate reporting to the benefit of advisors, investors, and external reporting filings. ### 25. The income statement and other reports are easy to customize, and expenses by vendor is another that I use frequently. I'm in the application every week, which I can't say for every tool in our stack. The customer support is impeccable. **What do you dislike about Rillet?** No downsides so far. Very powerful for analytics that way, I personally like the committed ARR waterfall the best and the fact that I can easily compare that to other revenue metrics directly in Rillet. It's also easy to customize the ARR metrics. The other accounting automations around prepaids, automating the cash reconciliation save time as well. Their integrations are well structured, the Salesforce integration is great for the revenue / invoicing pieces and Ramp works seamlessly.
