## Rhinoceros Reviews
  ### 1. Literally ANYTHING is Possible

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Maya P. | Student, Architecture & Planning, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

The thing I love most about Rhino is that you can literally make anything. It does take a lot of practice and skill but you can create anything that comes to mind. I also really like the plug ins that you can get for Rhino like VRay and Grasshopper which allow even more possibilities.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

I dislike and like this feature but I get irritated by how long it sometimes takes to create simple shapes onto of one another because in this program you can move things in any which way unless you have one of the tools on to help but some other programs do fix this issue a little better.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving every Interior Design/ Architecture problem I face with Rhino because it allows me to completely dissect a building or completely build it from scratch. I used to get very frustrated with the program but over time I have grown to appreciate the possibilities it brings and the ease of use with similar programs.

  ### 2. It's an extremely capable workhorse.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John K. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

The ease of use, the intuitive interface, the simple implementation of plug-ins, and the quality of output.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Their licensing is a bit archaic and old fashioned, requiring the purchase of physical media to acquire a key which is then registered online.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's great for not only learning CAD, but it's also a very competent piece of software for prototype and design. There are additional modules you can purchase for CADCAM, 3D printing, photorealistic rendering, animation, stress detection, and just about everything else you can imagine.

  ### 3. Make lots of cool things

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth T. | Associate, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

I like that it takes lots of types of files, like tons and tons of file formats. I can load most things i find out in the internet onto Rhino

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

I hate that it can't handle files larger than an object more complex than a chair. It crashes all the time and I have to start over so much I hate it. The user interface also looks like it's from the 90s.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

just learn solidworks because Rhino is kind of more for amateurs like artists and not the gold standard in the design industry

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can make objects just fine for basic things and if I need to make things quickly.

  ### 4. Love the Software - Very Unhappy with Customer Service

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Very useful within the ship building industry

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Customer service very unhelpful when trying to organize existing licences . Stating that we need to repay for a licence we set up previously because an employee set up an account using there personal email (with our permission). Stating that the licence is void because it was "stolen". It was not stolen.

As a startup company who was hoping to rely on Rhino as our main tool I am extremely frustrated and feel ripped off.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Be organized from the start. Make sure to set up all licencing under the same work email. Customer support is very unhelpful when trying to recover a licence. Even if you have permission from all users to re obtain the key. Unfortunately we have an employee who left and forgets key number or how to access our licence.

They will try to re-charge you rather than reset/provide your licence information.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Great modeling tool & easy to use. Love the rendering capabilities and add ons.

  ### 5. Resilient software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

With Rhino you can work on every stage of an architectural project easily, from conceptualizing to print the executive draws. the ability of exporting in a great number of format is a great asset.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

One downside is the 2D maker from 3D models, sometimes fails some line.
It's not the best software for printing the draws, it's better to pass through some other softwares before.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My entire work flow starts with Rhino, it helps a lot on conceptualizing in 3D in a easy way.

  ### 6. Very dependent on your work flow

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Free form, non parametric modelling allows you to do most things a normal cad package would sit in the corner and cry about without breaking a sweat.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

As it is non parametric, undoing things is kind've impossible once done, you have to be very vigilant with the incremental save feature and have a ton of storage space on your device.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

If your workflow is about a class level surfaces, this is a keen competitor to some of the heavier packages out there like solidworks or NX. Its price point is also really good for a small company. However be warned Nurbs modelling is very different from block of mesh modelling. In some ways it is archaic, in others it is fantastic. The freedom to do anything is both terrfying and empowering in your workflow. The recent update combining it with grasshopper (graph calcuator interface) really fixes a lot of the issues with creating variants or changing complex shapes at a later stage. It is also native on Mac and windows which is a nice touch.

Plugins are a godsend with this product, grab yourself all the rhino-scripts you can off the internet to make it more usable. Gear generator is a personal favorite of mine

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Used for producing production ready parts with extremely complex surfacing.

  ### 7. Excellent tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

I like that Rhinoceros is a tool that allows us to design projects from different scales and using different movements to generate new models.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

I usually dont like to type in commands but the software has options that allow you to set up shortkeys.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

When you learn how to use different plugins with the application, it makes the program an even more powerful tool.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am currently using rhino to develoop architectural designs and sculptures.

  ### 8. Perfect for a new user.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Agostina C. | Soporte técnico, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

I like that you are not limited to one type of design, you can do organic and CAD and technical...I came from 3dmax and it was easy to start using it. I didnt need much to get a hold of the options.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

The interface its a little cramped, i mean the are neccesary but it gets a little hard to find one specific button with them being pretty similar.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Best choice ever, you wont regret it.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it for quick designs, i make cookie cutters importing the files from illustrator, extrude and export. So easy and quick.

  ### 9. Make your Design Real

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

The easy use of the software, the plugins that help creating any design wanted, and the rendering of the models.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

I do not like the export of the model. It will not stay as it was designed, some changes appear.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

I highly recommend Rhinoceros to all designers, Architects, Interior designers, graphic designers, etc.. It will help you create all complicated design ideas from a small object to a high-rise building.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving design issues, especially with the parametric deigns. The benefits are many, creating special and high quality architectural diagrams, 3d renders, and 2d drawings.

  ### 10. Simply most versatile 3D Nurbs software out there.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 18, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Precise and easy to use yet very powerful. It is the definitive tool for anyone who needs a middle ground between conceptualization and prototyping. Grasshopper takes it to a whole new level.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

It's rendering engine it's pretty bad when compared to industry standards. Although it has gone through many overhauls, its camera management systems, light listing and hidden menus are not very rhinoceros.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Gotta have it if company is in any way related to product design or concept prototyping. Grasshopper has expanded upon the possibility of using generative design as a realistic tool due to its python modules.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Production ready surface management, surface continuity analysis. 3D printing optimisation and CAD CAM interoperability.

  ### 11. Versatile 3D Modeling tool, yet there is better software for drafting and documentation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos P. | Architectural Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Rhinoceros is one of the most user friendly and powerful software for 3D modeling. The interface is made to make spinning and viewing models as easy and effortless as possible. For 3D models that are dwgs, I always opt to open in Rhinoceros rather than the native AutoCAD software. Furthermore, the ability to integrate parametric modeling and third party plug-ins such as Grasshopper also adds to the versatility and power of using Rhinoceros. There is a large community of users that seem to continuously expand on Rhinocero's features, and thus this makes the software more valuable.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

I believe the 2D documentation features to Rhinoceros are not as strong. There is an ability to do comprehensive 2D drafting, but honestly there is better software to handle this, especially if the drafting is meant to document several large scale drawings within the same project. Furthermore, typical graphical drafting features such as applying hatches or annotations are usually unreliable and buggy.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

For NURBS and complex modeling, Rhinoceros is a complex and versatile tool. Many firms in the Architecture industry use Rhinoceros, and especially if one wants to become versed in computational modeling, Rhinocero's free downloadable plug-in grasshoppers is indispensable. The only drawbacks to Rhino is that for documentation of large drawing sets, other software is much better suited for this purpose.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are attempting to create 3D models that are geometrically complex, but do not require the level of large-scale complexity or rigor such as those 3D models that may be better modeled in software such as Autodesk Inventor or Catia. We essentially need to provide images of 3D architectural concepts that may later be modified in Photoshop.

  ### 12. Good (yet inefficient) Design Tool

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Rhino has hundreds of commands, and with these, it is easy to find one that suits your needs.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Creating or modifying linework is slow and tedious. It is also impractical for construction documentation purposes.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

It is a useful tool for conceiving forms but impractical when it comes to standardization or construction.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I’ve quickly realized 3-dimensional ideas with Rhinoceros. It is beneficial when taking a project from ideation to model-making.

  ### 13. Versatility and design freedom

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

The ability to work directly with topology and create custom components in combination with Grasshopper makes Rhino my go-to solution for design and optimisation in my daily work.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

The software is still single-threaded which can make it unresponsive or even crashing when the geometry is too heavy to handle or when there are computationally intensive tasks to perform.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Optimisation of designs for robotic 3D printing and automation of design processes related to 3D printing. Working directly with topology helps in having complete control on the geometry and adjusting it accordingly to structural and/or typical 3D printing requirements.

  ### 14. Good for students

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

I liked the fact that it’s a basic 3d modelling software. Good for beginners to this field

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

It’s not very reliable when you are designing for production and impossible to do solid modelling

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was quite easy to 3d model a geometry quickly, saves a lot of time for visualizing roughly the concept in your mind

  ### 15. Limitless world

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** AMin F. | Photographer, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Personally write a review for rhino is too difficult because this specific program is not something we can describe it in a few words!
It is the best program modeling in 3d print process and working with surfaces and polysurfaces.
It is easy to add plug-ins and expand the program.
Super easy to start.
Fluid views and easy to access.
Another big advantage is in last version grasshopper is inside the program.
For scripting we can add python and use rhino script syntax.
In rhino 6 the rendering and light are developed.
Huge amount of import and export files.
Super easy to customize interface.
Easy to access to commands.
Perfect support team.
is not just about working with surfaces and nurbes, for working with meshes also rhino is one of the bests.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Personally in last ten years I couldn’t find some disadvantages on this program. I was facing with some errors and the support team solve it as soon as possible.
if they can add some other plugins like python for make it more flexibale to scripting it will be perfect.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

its perfect but if they can add python and rhino script syntax inside the program it will be the best.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I started working with rhino during my bachelor degree and after I continued in my work-place.after expanding my job I couldn’t find something better than rhino and I just continue with rhino and im using rhino every day as my primary program for product design, car design, interior design etc.

  ### 22. 3D modelling software

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saiyyamee S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

It's one of the best software for creating a 3 dimensional design and objects with depth to understand better. The functions are pretty simple and very user friendly .If you need to make command such as "SPLIT" ,you just enter SPLIT in the command bar and the software will perform the command for you.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

There is nothing i dislike about the software. But i must say that it might seem a bit tough in the beginning but as soon as you get the hang of it ,you will start liking the software. When I 1st started using this software i had lot of assumptions about the software, and i thought it was really confusing but apparently it is not.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Definitely on the top list to consider and buy this software if you really love and creating objects . Industrial design companies use this software from many years and the most user friendly one . Recommended for new design students to improve their skills and get a hang of the software. Its a good skill posses and helps in building your portfolio.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Business such as high end Architecture Company requires to analyse their models in 3 Dimensional Area, also for Product Design companies require and has benefited by using this software. It is better to consult the client and show them the products as they can imagine in 3D.

  ### 24. Rhino vs Sketchup - general CAD

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Furniture | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

making and editing arcs. making and editing complex lofts / curves. BoxEdit quickly shows all dimensions of an object. it never seems laggy to me. there are a fair amount of snap options and it's relatively easy to access a lot of the tools via small buttons on the screen AND drop down menus. you can put items on layers and then select all the objects on a layer / change their color / hide or show them.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

hotkey options are either entirely missing or very bad. i haven't found a way to make a nice professional looking layout. taking dimensions of distances between points is not as easy as it should be.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Rhinoceros is a good software to model items in. Especially good for complex shapes / arcs / curves. If you are making cabinets or designing kitchens, google sketchup might be better for a few reasons; sketchup's Layout option is easier, taking dimensions is faster; editing parts of simple cubes / boxes is easier.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i use rhino to 3D model complex parts for CNC machining (chair backs, shoe shapes, table legs, etc).

  ### 25. For HI-tech architects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2019

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

love this program sooo easy to create curvy facades.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

So slow in general, not much tutorials on the program on how to use it.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it on the curvy facades. It really works well with organic shapes

  ### 26. The best 3D modelling software available

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Barney R. | Urban Designer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Everything about this program is incredibly intuitive. I once wanted to delete a hole in a polysurface and just guessed that typing 'DeleteHole' might work -- it did. Now that's impressive.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Nothing at all. This is my favourite computer software out there.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Use it. It's awesome!

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

3D modelling of potential massing options and renderings of these options, for a client presentation.

  ### 27. A program for parametric modeling

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniela G. | Arquitecto, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

I like that the program is very visual, since by means of the icons without needing to know all the commands it can be used without major complications. I also like the ease with which modeling can be done and the precision with which objects can be made. The lightness of the files and the possibility of adding plugins for more options like the grasshoopper for parametric modeling. In the same way I like the ease and speed with which renders are produced, being one of the programs where you can get a quick preview of the model to make corrections

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

At first, it is complicated to use the program with the options that the mouse has to move through the workspace, since the other modeling programs differ from this one, which forces us to adapt again for the use of the rhinoceros. The program is a little more complex for the knowledge of the commands, that is, for the use of each step that must be carried out to achieve the desired action.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From the use of parametric tools it has allowed me to make designs with mathematical bases and design logic where parametric is the main theme, allowing me to combine the orthogonal design with the organic one. Together with this, it has also allowed me to obtain the parts of the model for laser material cuts, which allows me to save time and effort in the elaboration of complex models

  ### 28. Rhino For Every Type of Design

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

I love the ease-of-use and flexibility of Rhino. It is the top program for all of my design needs and the easiest way for a designer to make their ideas into representational objects. I have used this for building design, graphic design, technical drawings and many other design services.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

I feel as though Rhino has so many commands and so much power that goes unrealized because the interface is a bit complicated. There are commands that solve my needs; however, I won't find out about them or know how to properly use them until years later.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

I would recommend training before using Rhino. It can be intuitive at times, but other times very complicated to perform other tasks. I also would recommend looking at all of the other plug-ins for Rhino such as Grasshopper, Python, and countless others online that allow you to do simulations and other tasks less related to design and more related to technical fields.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a designer, a majority of my design problems are solved using Rhino. It allows me to design buildings or objects with extreme precision and get an idea of how they will look when they are constructed outside of the digital realm. This benefit of knowing exactly how something will look when it is fabricated is a major benefit to designers/

  ### 29. Great for Artists

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Fine Art | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

The program is nore geared for artists. The design interface has multiple ways for the user to reach each tool, including a type option. Organic designs are best made in Rhino.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

There are features used in engineering programs that would be really useful for artists that is lacking in this program. For example, the ability to make and build mutliple parts and collect them in one model with ease.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

The best way to learn this program is the built in tutorials.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The largest benefit of Rhino is that the program does no restrict the user as much. You are able to make organic designs with ease.

  ### 30. Rhino was of use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James r. | Engineer, Construction, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Rhino software creates an environment that is extremely easy to use. It is a very powerful program that uses the simple aspects of 2d cad drawing and combines it with the 3D capabilities that can be used for rapid prototyping and manufacturing. New user can learn from a vast number of online tutorials a long with the intuitive nature of the UI to control the program. More experienced CAD user will find this program easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Sometimes the integration in to Autocadd can be tricky but with a little testing the controls can be set for better output.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Look into the Cad features especially the CNC capabilities and use of parametric programming

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating 3D objects for 3D print pro

  ### 31. Easy to use infinite possibilities

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

What is amazing about Rhino is that it is very easy to pick up. And with a few tricks, anything you can imagine can be modeled. It can be intimidating at first but after a while things get much easier. What is important to know is that there is no single way to execute any given task. The McNeel web information on each command is also great and pretty informative. They have little videos of every command. I have not seen such detailed explanations elsewhere.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Some parts of the interface are a bit clunky. The infinite possibilities can prove to be very daunting. Certain commands have too much of a crossover (for example, UnrollSrf and Smash - still don't know the difference between these). The biggest disadvantage (which may be an advantage for some) is that Rhino is not a standalone product. By this I mean, knowledge of associated software is often required - like VRay for Rendering, Illustrator to set lineweights for linework, Grasshopper for complex parametric geometry, Revit for BIM. Furthermore, programs like VRay aren't the best when used with Rhino - Chaos Group focuses more on their Max plugin

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

The best way to obtain Rhino is if you purchase a student license while a student. One license can be used for 2 devices, so all in all this rote is pretty reasonable. Just remember - if you can imagine doing something, it can probably be done in Rhino 90% of the time

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rhino is great for a quick solve. For quick architectural massing, or the communication of a concept when you have time constraints, Rhino is unparalleled

  ### 32. Rhino, for complex 3D modeling plug-ins and workflow

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marissa P. | Owner, Luxury Goods & Jewelry, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

I must use nurbs for specific projects, so Rhino is my go-to. It is better for project printers such as CNC milling, etc. It works well with all of the new renderers that I use, such as Vray. It has a good user interface and workflow that is straightforward.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

The normal issues such as it is very expensive to update, it does need other plug-ins for certain applications. It is time-intensive and not a "fast" software for time sensitive projects.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Rhino is great for modeling, for use on big heavy-duty architecture and industrial design projects.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rhino meets my 3D needs as I do a lot of rapid prototyping, project printing, interior design, jewelry design, etc that requires plugins and complex modeling. Rhino was one of the first 3d programs to come out so many users such as myself are familiar with its interface already.

  ### 33. Versatile 3D Nurbs Modeller

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stefan B. | sr. BIM Manager, Information Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2014

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Flexible and extensive control over geometry: curves, surface, solids and meshes; transformation, model manipulations (rounding, solid operations, sweeping & lofting, trimming…). The focus is clearly NURBS geometry and to a lesser extent Mesh geometry. Subdivision modelling (as a hybrid between NURBS and meshes, from the user's point of view) is upcoming.

Attractive licensing, without subscription or forced yearly updates. They also have an open policy for educational users: low license, without usage or feature restrictions (even commercial work). Quite exceptional.

Rhino has file import and export convertors for a wide variety of CAD and design formats. Via plug-ins you can even expand this more.

Impressive versatility, esp. when adding the Grasshopper visual programming system (add-on). For architectural and BIM design, extensions and plug-ins are available to extend and improve the usability. That said, don't compare it directly with software like ARCHICAD or Revit, as they have a different purpose.

It took a few years to arise, but the Mac version is now becoming very usable and quite complete. Not for 100% as some plugins and features remain Windows-only.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

No free student version (but license allows commercial usage even for EDU users).
Mac version does not support Grasshopper, so still need Windows version.
Could be better integrated in e.g. BIM processes (partly solved by add-ons).

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

When complex 3D geometric editing goes beyond what AutoCAD or SketchUp provide or when you want to use Grasshopper, this is the CAD system to use.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Complex geometric model creation, especially if smoothness and continuity are required.

  ### 34. Best surface modeler for the price, and a very active user community

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua V. | Associate Professor of Architecture, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 04, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

The tools for the price is a really great value for educators and students. I also like how easy it is to extend Rhino and there is a very angaged user group that develops plugins for Rhino and Grasshopper. Last, the development process for Rhino is very transparent—no new releases until much testing by users (for free), and the company is very responsive to its customers.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

There are a few tools in Rhino that feel messy or buggy. For example, Make 2D Boolean commands sometimes create more problems than they solve. But otherwise, great product.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Accuracy with 3D modeling along with interoperability with CNC tools.

  ### 35. Learned it in an educational background, kept using since and still using as of today

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Feels very professional and complete, you can basically create anything if you reverse engineer that thing and figure out how to make the best of the tools that Rhino makes available for us.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

It takes a little while to get used to and to be able to make the most out of the software. I had 2 years of classes specifically for this software and V-ray and I still didn't feel like I knew the software all that well.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Get into it if you need to design 3D models or do some 3D printing, it's a really nice software to dive in the world of 3D modelling

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to create 3D models with a lot of precision for 3D printing and/or to create 3D animations and visuals. For example small accessories that I can model in Rhino, 3D print at home and sell online or at trade shows really quickly and efficiently.

  ### 36. Better than AutoCAD

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander W. | System Administrator III, Higher Education, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2017

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Light weight, easy to use, uses similar commands to AutoDesk software, Lots of FREE plugins and tools, works with render farm setup

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Setting up for multi-user environments can be tricky. Right now, since I have to capture and reimage every semester, I have to load the default user HKCU and literally delete a registry key so that it gets created fresh for each user, otherwise it tries to use the toolbars in the Administrator profile. It also doesn't have the BEST rendering engine, so I suggest you get V-Ray for Rhino to go with your installs of Rhino.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have faculty who teach how to model in Rhino, which makes the students use it and Sketchup almost exclusively for doing models and renderings. We have used it on the IT side to make some custom items that we then 3D print to replace broken parts, which does save us hundreds, if not a couple of thousand, of dollars a year.

Rhino's License manager, the Zoo, is very nice, lightweight, and does give some great statistics, and makes reviewing your license usage over time easy. It is far better than many other LS than I have used.

  ### 37. I use Rhino as a modeling software in school.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katherine M. | Project Designer, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Rhino is by far the easiest and most versatile 3D modeling software I have learned. I use it for almost all of my projects in school and I use it at work to build models to show clients.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

There's nothing I dislike about Rhino. It's a great tool that I use daily.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use rhino instead of sketchup at work because it's a more customizable modeling software.

  ### 38. Rhino, great design software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth N. | Intern, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2018

Works with many plugins, grasshopper and python are 2 I am familiar with. Any form can be created and output is various! Used for many studio projects sine it is good for ouput like 3d printing, laser cutting and rendering

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

There is so much to learn and it can be difficult to know what all the software is capable of.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

It is a great design program with so many applications even outside of the arhitexure Field

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Student work, it is great for modeling and running scripts that generate forms and patterns.

  ### 39. Rhino, a solution

I like the incredibly versatility of Rhino, it's so easy to learn and it can be usefull to create lots of differents things

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

I dislike that it's not so well known in Italy, so people don't usually use it very mush

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

I recommend Rhino as one of the most compleate programs for 3D, as well as one of the easyest to learn.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Rhino I solved all problems I can't solve with other 3D programs.

  ### 40. Easy and effective

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

The commands are straight forward and the interface makes design easy

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Rhino is not the best for a Mac, which I use. Also the default render abilities is very weak

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When a client or studio crit needs quick concepts. I am able to save time and get things done effectively

  ### 41. Steep learning curve but very powerful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom R. | Senior Conference Planner, Think Tanks, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2018

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Of all the drafting software I've used, Rhino has the best visualizations. Helpful for understanding where cuts will take place when using various lathe and CNC machines

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

High system requirements. Was unable to use on my personal laptop because it lacked the computing power. Can load slowly.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helped solve the efficiency problem for us. We are able to produce much faster

  ### 42. Rhino 3D Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2017

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Rhino is used by students and professionals alike for a reason. It is really unparalleled in its usability, flexibility, interoperability and available support from the community.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Precision is perhaps not as high as some other products, such as AutoCAD and Inventor, but for someone in the Architecture industry those tolerances are acceptable because of the scale we work at - we aren't concerning ourselves with micrometers of accuracy.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

If there is an issue, chances are others have had it as well. There is a robust community of Rhino users that can help with troubleshooting, as well as tons of forum content solving issues that you might encounter. There is also a lot of training material available.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rhino is generally able to handle most eccentric file types that we might receive from consultants. We also use it for the majority of our conceptual design and presenation-level modeling.

  ### 43. 3D drafting software for advanced users

Allowing clients to visualize building blueprints in three dimensions and provide feedback for the design process.

  ### 45. Rhinoceros, challenging but very interesting

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marco L. | Docente, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2017

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

Rhinoceros has a huge amount of tools to create unique shapes.
It has a nice interface so that if you are familiar with other softwares like Autocad or 3ds MAX, you won't have issues in using it.
It can be improved with nice add-ons, like Grasshopper or Visualarq.
It is really eay to be learned and it can be used in many fields like automotive design, architecture, industrial design, 3d printing.
It is also simple to use cnc machines connected with it like cnc milling machines to create prototypes
It has no fancy functions and it is extremelty fast.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

It has no parametric modifier tools and if you don't like the result of the shape you have created it is necessary to repeat the entire process instead of easily modifing elements on the surface ...
rendering capabilities are very poor so you really need another software to render rhino files .. so it must be bought and learned another software ....
Exported files are in general huge and heavy to be managed from other softwares
It has

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Nice software. Not so expensive ( but it has not an educational free license )
Extremely good if you already know what your 3d should be .. not so easy if you need just to create quick concepts

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mainly prototyping and object design
Laser cutting for architectural maquettes
It is a perfect tool to be used before going into production step

  ### 46. Rhinoceros is one the best 3d model software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2017

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

I really like the freedom of modeling anything what you like, if you want something accurate you can, if you want something impossible you can too

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Well probably the mesh relation with Nurbs

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Very easy to use software

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy and fast model fixing for 3d print

  ### 47. Very complete 3D CAD software

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Renata R. | Celebre suas emoções!, Events Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2017

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

I love Rhinoceros for many different reasons, one of them is that this software gives the user the freedom to create and design using its precise tools and four different view angles at the same time. Together with that, Rhinoceros allows the user to customize its layout, making it easier to adjust the software to your needs.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

It takes time to learn all of its features and to be able to use it to its full capacity, in other words, its learning curve is really steep. Also, Rhinoceros pricing is not very friendly, it is quite expensive.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Try experimenting Rhinocero's features and get familiar with its design before modelling and designing projects with it because it can be quite difficult to use it in the beggining.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Rhinoceros, I was able to design 3D objects and send them to a 3D printer. These objects were used in events to decorate the environment.

  ### 48. Rhinoceros is the best and most complete 3D modelling software out there

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eduardo M. | Estagiário, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 18, 2017

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

One of the best features that the program has is that it allows the user to write commands in a toolbar. This speeds up the whole modelling process. Also, the fact that the program shows the user four different views at the same time is game changer, it helps a ton. Finally, it's straightforward and clear design creates a good atmosphere to let the user's creativity flow into the modelling and designing process.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

My main issue with Rhinoceros is that it can be a bit inaccurate and imprecise. Especially when using the technical drafting feature. Also some tools can fail from time to time and not work properly, and i these cases the user needs to save the project and reopen the program, which can be quite annoying.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rhinoceros has really assisted me in designing new and innovative projects with it's great features and tools. With this software, I was able to grow as a professional in my line of work.

  ### 49. User Friendly with Predictable Commands/tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 18, 2017

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

I love how the commands are simple to learn and easy to find. For example, if you want to draw a curve, the command is curve. There is barely any lag when I use it even if I have a large amount of information. I found it to be the most efficient in drawing 3D object easily and quickly. Commands are very responsive and directions below are very clear to understand. Layering function is also very easy to understand.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

The rendering in the program could use some work but that also might just be my skill level as I do not use it for rendering very often.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This program allows me to draw quick sketches both quickly and accurately. I can customize my hot keys to fit my needs and allow myself to work at my most optimal.

  ### 50. Well design program for rendering

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gerardo G. | Diseñador, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2017

**What do you like best about Rhinoceros?**

It´s the better software when you want to design in a freelly way, this is an excellent option to rendering plugins.the edition of materials it´s as well the best in the market , you don´t need to do so much , and reading the manual you can learn super easy. the freely tools of modeling its as well super easy to understand, and if you want to do surfaces and solids you can do it fast an easy, the only problem that i had its the import tool , its not easy as a I wantet to be, there will be a better solution for tis and maybe in the future this could be solved.

**What do you dislike about Rhinoceros?**

Maybe the interface would be more easy , and a better form to learn without the necesity of courses .And the useas of cameras , it not easy to manage , and maybe the opton to renderin in isometric, only one object , not all the scene. The importation tool it´s not perfect, in some cases you can´t importe the models completely , and in some cases some parts of the model you can´t see.

**Recommendations to others considering Rhinoceros:**

Its an easy tool that solve tha necesities of rendering and modeling, and its a way to do the things betterand in a easy way.

**What problems is Rhinoceros solving and how is that benefiting you?**

easy and quick modeling and rendering, and at some point its more easy to explain a new worler the program than others.
