Let's say that, in order to use it at its maximum, you'd probably need to attend a class (which sometimes are not exactly cheap), but its fair to say that is the end of the days with a bit of time is still possible to learn it on your own. **What problems is Revit solving and how is that benefiting you?** I’ve started using it for 3D only, but shortly I’ve found it good for 2D plans as well. The benefits of using BIM are massive. The struggles related to draw the same detail 10 times now has finally over. As a client/facility owner our need for Revit licences is limited due to infrequent use. However we have a number of potential users. Revit has a large library of built-in elements that can be integrated into your project, but there are also libraries of larger elements and materials on the Internet, some of them, the same ones, the data, the parameters, the rights that can be very precise. Since it is a software of autodesk, it is compatible with other programs of the company, facilitating the import and export of projects. **What do you dislike about Revit?** It takes a while to set things right to really get the efficiency that a program like this needs. One more problem is that it is a large and heavy program. Starting a new business we do not yet have the income to buy newer and faster computers. The Lite version is still a bit heavy in my opinion. Minimum system requirements are not enough for the day with the coordination model that has many other linked business models. 3D CAD models are not displayed correctly. As good as Revit is, it has the disadvantage that it is loaded with popularity due to its relative novelty in the market. This is a challenge because a new software has few tutors and experts and, therefore, it takes a lot of time and effort to learn and master. Revit is also restricted to buildings and has no designs for roads and cars, for example. **Recommendations to others considering Revit:** I'm a big Revit fan and I recommend as many people as possible. I think it's more intuitive than using AutoCAD and the way it responds makes sense to me. It has many features that I find extremely useful. It is especially useful to be able to quickly navigate a view to get a better perspective of the projects I am working on. **What problems is Revit solving and how is that benefiting you?** When it comes to 3D mode, Revit stands out for being the best in my opinion. I like the fact that it has structural, mechanical and architectural interfaces with segments that contain several design components in families. Revit makes 3D mode very easy and fast because changes in a segment are automatically communicated to other segments. As we all know, time is money and, therefore, this saves a lot of time and money. I use it in the company to carry out the 3D surveys of the projects that the clients request, it is a more real way of showing them how they want and how they are seeing their finished projects, besides, it is ideal to go through the spaces in which you are working, to coordinate multiple disciplines in one place and to perform lighting calculations in one place. ### 12. Quick key for one should be the same for the other. Items like Trim have opposite functionality making switching between the two platforms horrible. Worst problem I have is the lack of native framing functionality within Revit. We have to go to companies like strucsoft or Vertex BD to add in something fairly simple. **What problems is Revit solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our transition has been in the last year from ACD to Revit, so we are still in the thick of converting templates and details. We use almost every piece of the software included in the AEC Collection. As a construction company Revit can be used to develop almost every discipline of design, from Architecture to Structure to MEP. As a piece of BIM software it's the most widely used tool available and it allows multiple disciplines (Sstructure, MEP) to use the same platform and collaborate with the Architecture in a model environment. There's also a variety of tools that allow users to create irregular and dramatic forms within the software. Visual programming is also integrated into the latest version which allows for creating scripts to automate tasks. **What do you dislike about Revit?** It's fairly complex and requires experienced users to get the most out of it. There is no compatibility between versions.
