As I will tell for Revit the best thing is the opportunity to collaborate together with both stakeholders on the project. Thanks to obsolete sketches this improve efficiencies and future rework. You can't migrate to an older version and if a team operates on an older version the files won't be able to connect to each other. The same happens to friends, so everything stored in a later edition is inconsistent with existing versions. What I would say the best part about Revit is the ability to be able to work with all parties on the project at the same time. These increases efficiencies and potential rework due to out of date drawings. Getting instant feedback on the design by simply being able to see how different aspects integrate with each other allows for better design decisions much earlier in the process which in turn saves time and money. With the ability to position the project with real-world coordinates we can get a great idea on the effects to the building from either surrounding buildings or how the sun is going to cast shadows. There is not a lot that I dislike about Revit but it would be great if they added some features that specifically help the Construction side to make the models more constructible. At times depending on who is driving the project and what the plan is based upon the BIM Execution Plan, the file sizes can get to be quite large and sometimes they put quite a toll on the hardware of the machine you are using. You cannot save to an earlier version so if a team is working in an earlier version, the files cannot link to one another. Same is true of families, anything saved over in a newer version is then incompatible with previous versions.
