For me, Revit MEP puts the engineering layouting and design / drafting to the next level, if your wondering how or why? Well sadly, i can't tackle all the this it can offer but so starter, it reduces drafting, plan views, isometric and detailing of plan in by a huge time. Coordination of different services or system with the building is easily fix before hand the construction phase. Datas and drafts are easily edited in all plan in a matter of minutes. Being to see your project in a 3d environment so easily at a leeser effort i think is one of its best advantages because it enable us engineer to review the plan well. Well, you see eventhough you learn RevitMEP, its only a part of the whole REVIT software. You may not be able to use the full potential of the other buttons within, i know, the basic stuff are there. On my part, i also took up Revit Architectural to maximize my drafting of wall, roofs, floors, tiles, massing. As i said you need the will to learn coz REVIT is compose of MEP, Architectural and Structural. What could you expect? It was a software of building design after all. It is very helpful for MEP modeling and shop drawing. Its graphic interface is very easy to understand. By using this software we can easily install all the MEP services by using these shop drawings. Also in this software all the basic training about commands like copy, mirror, etc is provided by using small clips. By using dynamo we do lot of work automatically in Revit MEP. All good things have some minor issues like, In drainage services slope changes not effective as effiective fabrication, Also it takes odd angle fittings while modeling.
