  ### 1. Was a Solid System until Bought Out

**What do you like best about Revel Systems?**

Revel has been a really good system and company to work for until they got bought out. With the new company support has gone down hill and they are closing the Revel POS system and moving it to the new companies POS.

**What do you dislike about Revel Systems?**

I enjoyed the system until recently. What I don't like now is that data connector is wrong and there are no more enhancements happening so the things that are wrong are broken. There are glitches that cause items to active across all locations even if only one location has it.

**What problems is Revel Systems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Revel was a great POS to transition to after our last POS. It was modern and allowed us to build an easier POS for 300+ restaurants. It was easy for the team to learn and brought us into a cloud based enviroment.

**What do you like best about Revel Systems?**

Revel was the worst POS I have ever used.   The set up and cords are like a spider web - makes trouble shooting by employees almost impossible.   I had to go into the store so many times because the POS was not working and it was just an unplugged cable - but it was impossible for a crew employee to locate.

**What do you dislike about Revel Systems?**

Everything - do not buy this system.  Don't force your franchisees to use this system (that's probably the majority of their business - where people are forced to use it with no say in the matter)

Look for something less expensive and not so complicated

**What do you like best about Revel Systems?**

The system generally works well for our kitchen and Point of Sale.

**What do you dislike about Revel Systems?**

We are a small pizzeria, Pizza By The Harbour and have had several issues...

No access to data via API unless you pay an added fee - in our case it would nearly double, DOUBLE our monthly subscription fee.  That's not modern.  I could see paying 20 or 30 a month but not hundreds extra for a basic feature.

Poor data retention without paying  extra.

The system can't handle the concept of order queuing automatically.  Online we can be sure to only take x orders every n minutes - but that doesn't apply to the POS so we end up with pressured times on the kitchen. It's not meant for pizzerias.

1/2 and 1/2 pizzas are common but stopped working months ago and support couldn't solve it.

We are trapped working with a company who implemented this years ago for the business we bought the restaurant from - and can't find a path to just go direct with Revel - which means we pay even more every time for their cut too.
 

No one seems to care about your business there, it's been frustrating to say the least.

**What do you like best about Revel Systems?**

There is NOTHING we as a company benefit from this system any longer. They have limited the amount of data we can go back and look at after nearly 10 years of working with this POS system. Assume you won't be with them longer than 10 years as that is the most data you can look at. May as well choose another sytem per their limitations.

**What do you dislike about Revel Systems?**

There is no customer service any longer. They did good for about 3 years of the 10. Now it is completely nonexistent. All they must want is the "set up" sales. That must be where they are making the most profit. Good luck.

They aren't. They are creating more problems. I cant even select any option other than "Restaurant POS" in the above "For which purposes do you use Revel Systems?*"

**What do you like best about Revel Systems?**

Ease of use for staff and ability to implement our own gift cards/loyalty programs without having to use outside vendor.

**What do you dislike about Revel Systems?**

Pretty much everything else was horrible.  Reporting was inaccurate, customer service was next to zero, adding products and modifiers was a nightmare.  Getting issues resolved was also a nightmare--usually I was on the phone so long that I ended up figuring out a workaround or how to solve the issue myself before the Revel rep ever figured it out. When we cancelled was the crowning blow--we had multiple stores--we sent emails indicating we were cancelling and they cancelled ONE location and then played extremely corrupt and coy saying we hadn't specifically requested ALL locations cancelled.  When we had TOLD Revel the stores were sold.  It was complete BS.  I am conviced this company is run of out someone's basaement or garage.  RUN-don't walk- away and don't even consider it.  Please read other reviews-as if I had done more research (I wasn't the one in our company who researched POS or I would have found the MANY HORRIBLE reviews on Revel) and never picked them in the first place.

Not much... it worked most of the time, but is'nt customizable.

Reporting. You need to contact customer service for any real customized reports. They have very questionable sales tactics and are not transparent about terms, pricing or fees.

It is easy to use and the touchscreen is smooth and well organized. It is helps you to deal with inventory. You can also use multiple cashier account.

There might be glitch sometimes; however glitches are everywhere in systems and can be fixed.

It can be really difficult to manage the inventory in restaurant sometimes; however, Revel Systems makes it easy to manage the inventory with its user-friendly system.

There was a time during the pandemic, when support took a long time to pick up the phone.  That has been completely corrected, and the wait time is always less than three minutes or so.

Profitability is easy to determine, inventory is easy to maintain, and employee reporting is great.

Hey I do not have to spend very much time trading my front of house staff. The user interface is very intuitive and simple to use.

**What do you dislike about Revel Systems?**

"iPad updates reset automatic update settings. If you do not watch out, applications will update themselves without asking permission. That can cause problems from time to time.

Revel has helped us understand where are profit is coming from and at what time that profit is being earned. Revel systems has assisted us in adjusting our staffing schedule according to our busiest times and most popular products.

I really like the revel POS system.  It is very intuitive and user-friendly.  We are a fast casual concept and Revel can do everything we need it to do and more. Most importantly, the customer service is exceptional.  The customer service people are kind, patient and EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW!!! very hard to find in the tech/IT world

Recipe design has mixed measurement units and no easy way to convert from stock units to recipe amounts

Remote access into the system.  When we are on a food truck or in a tent at a festival, even via VPN, we cannot get to sync.

**What do you like best about Revel Systems?**

Revel system is easy to use and has all the features needed to run and grow your business. The area that I have been most impressed with is their customer service. When I have a question  or something that needs addressed, they are a phone call away and ready to help. My calls are answered quickly by a live person that is quickly able to understand my needs and then walk me through resolution steps. In my opinion, having this level of support is critical and Revel excels in this area.

**What do you dislike about Revel Systems?**

There are some reports that I would like to be able to tweak a little bit, but it isn't a big concern. For example, there are product mix reports that I have to download and open in Excel that I would rather just be able to generate the full report on screen.

**What problems is Revel Systems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Revel is my main POS system and I have a kitchen display unit. In addition, Revel processes all my payments. Recently, I added a second order taker screen (hand held iPad) so that we could take twice as many orders when the lines get long (like they do at In and Out). Again, when I was setting this up, Revel customer service was incredibly helpful.

The copy function through some items like employees in different establishments, the menu, inventory, among others.

The limited reports. I would like to see in one report the sales for a year disclosed per month (not a detailed per day), also the working hours per month.

we can create clients for particular events and accounting purposes, then separate from the total sales as extraordinary sales for analysis purposes

The system was very easy to integrate into our POS system. In the main dashboard we see all open invoices and the corresponding payments. The adaptation for tablets works perfectly and the connection to the payment service provider always works without problems.

The reports are staggered by product - it would also be more convenient to have a report by payment type and to process the stock data directly in this tool.

We can manage our restaurant perfectly with it. Whether it is to check the working time of our employees or to process the general orders of the customers. We can make payments faster and the acceptance of suppliers is complete. Thus, there are no more difficulties with the payments. The connection to the bar counter and the kitchen also works very well.

**What do you like best about Revel Systems?**

Revel's easy to use interface and the ability to integrate with other platforms to facility online orders.  In general, it is very user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Revel Systems?**

The stand holding  the ipads is not designed well.  The ipad is stuck to a large holder which slides in the stand.  The cashier and customer interfaces are basically one unit, making it very difficult to use a shield to separate the customers and employees.    During the pandemic, I have to install a screen shield to protect our employees from interaction with the customers.  The current stand makes it very difficult.  I have to slide out the ipad, but because of the Ipad has a big Revel holder stuck on it, it is very difficult to find another holder/case to hold the customer facing ipads.

Easy to use, simple to install with great customer service.

Easy to use.  Online orders, delivery dispatch services. These features are really helpful during the pandemic.

**What do you like best about Revel Systems?**

For us in the restaurant the allocation and design of the table plan is very good. It's easy to assign new tables and create invoices. We can network the tool with our additional system. The app also works great on the smartphone.

**What do you dislike about Revel Systems?**

I can't change products or type in 50% - in case a customer wants a smaller portion. The day-end closing is always done at the same time (automatically) so it can happen that the payments made later are included in the next day's bill.

**What problems is Revel Systems solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I and my staff are very enthusiastic about the simplicity - we save a lot of time and can improve the service for our customers. Errors rarely occur anymore or customers are not served quickly enough. The acceptance of the cards is great - all providers are supported.

Lack of savable custom reports. Not giving us more option to have default values for certain fields.  The inability to track and compute food prep labor

Ease of use, just like using an iPhone! Everyone uses it it inuitively.

We don't like that the tip out doesn't work if you're logged in as another user. It doesn't integrate with our accounting software.

It's so easy to see product breakout and product sales by month.

Report system could have more customizations and granular control, a lot of basic things like a second KDS cost extra.

Make sure you get a quotation for ALL your needs, a lot of tiny but necesary things have additional cost

**What do you like best about Revel Systems?**

We customized everything and revel makes it work for us! From specialized pop-up menus, to catering and our regular menu changing frequently, it's easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Revel Systems?**

The service is disjointed; originally we were steered towards third party gift cards, when Revel has their own and it would have made it easier. I wish there was an account manager to make it easy to integrate all the services we could want, rather than have to figure it out ourselves. There are certainly hiccups in the system, having two iPads should be seamless, though it seems to cause a few integration problems. And the cost is quite high. I also wish there was an Android option; we far prefer Android over Apple. There needs to be an app for easy access.

 Do your research so you know all the options; they may not offer you things you want or need, and you may not know what to ask, so be armed with as much knowledge as possible.

Cloud-based and portability of the tablets is great, support is quick and thorough, With upgrades all the time making things easier.

On our menu, we offer customizable salads and wraps with over 30 ingredients.  With different types of greens and dressings, this allows our customers to create their own unique combination among millions of possible choices.  With Revel, we can easily take orders at the counter, over the phone, or online while keeping track of all the ingredients (which change often based on seasonal availability.)  With the reporting tools, we can keep an eye on our KPIs in real time, as well as run analyses on specific time-frames.  And maybe most importantly, our POS never goes down; and whenever there's a glitch, tech support stays with us on the phone, if necessary, until we resolve it.

Physical Inventory functionality issues. 
   - it is not included in the base price.
   - Not intuitive when finding products.

The ability to search for a customer by phone Number on the POS is not intuitive. You must enter it exactly how it was entered the first time. It would be better if you could enter parts of it and have results show up similar to searching for a name.

Purchase Orders:
    -When receiving an order it would be nice to sort the items. for our retail business, we do not receive all the products at once and it is time-consuming to go through large PO's.

Sales Rep
   -It seems there is only one sales rep in Canada. I have issues trying to contact the rep, order equipment and have questions answered.

I did not like the fact after signing up, having the gift card functionality work is an extra cost.

Revel customer service is extremely slow, as explained by someone else, you get to exchange emails with about 10 different people and no one knows what they are talking about. The average answer time from them is at least 5 days.

I have a deli in London, and I have been sold Revel as a great POS that would easily work with Quickbooks, which I am using. They provided me with their integrated scale, which was unable to weigh goods that were below 100g. Also, ti was rounding up so a cheese that would weigh 123g would come up as 125g, which is illegal. That scale was clearly not designed for retail businesses

I notified them and asked for a full refund (including the £2300 set up fee) , which they refused, whereas it is their fault if their scales are not fit for a business like mine. 

DO NOT WORK WITH THIS BUNCH OF AMATEURS AND THIEVES

If you need the Revel API for Quickbooks Desktop, beware. Intuit is reducing Quickbooks Desktop syncing. It can be done, as we did, by building a custom sync from Quickbooks Online and syncing that data to Quickbooks Desktop. Revel API is only available to partners, and it is expensive.

The integrated payments and integrated scale. By having these options it gives us a lot of freedom with being able to train our staff and not worry about data entry errors. By them not having to enter in a number into the keypad it is helping us ensure that the customer is getting charged the correct amount and also is ensuring that the business is getting the correct amount of money for customers payments. Same with the integrated scale. By having the scale connected to the Ipad and selected the right item is allowing for us to track our items sold by weight more accurate with the dollar value and not having to relay numbers with data entry errors.

How limited you are to changing the view of the main menus.

Is it worth switching accounting software to have to use the scheduling and staffing reports become more accurate? I feel as though there are so many other reports that I could be advising our company to use but I feel like I would need someone who has switched to let me know how the transition went. I feel like it would not be worth it 100%. Also, I have seen that there are alot of loyalty membership reports and I would feel like knowing a bit more about these options would help see if this was a possibilty in the future of our growing business.

With now having revel and the integrated scale, we are resolving issues with incorrect dollar amounts being imput.

Wish Revel had API - this would allow us to pull the data and utilize it more efficiently.    When working in the back of house in one location, it will sometimes switch over to all locations?  I think the Schedule and Time worked tabs look the same and they need to change the feature so the tabs can be identified more easily.  When using the schedule and you email it out to the employees and they decline a day or the schedule it supposed to email that information to you however, no one is sure where that email goes.

Make sure it has all the features you need -- no all systems fit all needs.
Updating to new versions should be easier

Required to use an iPad for creating orders.  It would be nice to create orders in a desktop browser, or maybe on a phone.  Having to use the tablet for the punch clock is also a bit inconvenient, it would be nice if all employees could punch in themselves on a desktop (our staff room has a desktop for receiving merchandise and printing tags).

If you are importing from another database, make sure you clean up the database.  Revel might create a lot of duplicates, and removing them is not possible.

We are eliminating redundant SKUs for products that sell in various size packages, but are received in one bulk pack.  The combo and ingredient features are very useful, and the ease of tracking and editing the inventory helps.  We have made steady improvement in order fulfillment by ending sales of a product when all package sizes are low or out.

The way Revel is setup, it makes it very easy to navigate to do almost anything with just a few touches.  Adding customers into the POS system is very easy and very quick, which customers appreciate, I love the fact that you can easily manipulate the front POS screen (what the customer sees prior to and during checkout) great for changing daily or leaving permanently .

I don't like that you cant see more detailed information about products.. For example the last time a product was sold, or which customer bought the product last, in other words maybe consider giving products a "history" the same way that customers have.

The interface is easy to use and navigate and easy to train new employees. The most important piece of Revel is the backend reporting and integration with quickbooks, having this makes accounting and payroll very seamless and much less time consuming than having to do it manually. The sleek look of the system as a whole fits into our design concept and gives us a clean look. The paperless solution of our kitchen has been huge with keeping track of orders and keeping waste to a minimum.

Set up is a bit time consuming and working through the first part with no experience can be frustrating. Some of the reporting can be difficult to navigate through. Customer support can be a little frustrating as they use overseas support. Some sales staff are tough to get a hold of and take a little long to return calls.

We have been able to track sales and time of service from every angle throughout our business. Seeing things from a bigger picture helps us track sales and know what items are selling and items are not giving us a better idea as to what we should be focusing on. The biggest benefit is having the entire system monitored by Revel remotely so when there is an issue they can easily asses the situation and fix it quickly.
