"Vital for our business"

What do you like best?

The interface is easy to use and navigate and easy to train new employees. The most important piece of Revel is the backend reporting and integration with quickbooks, having this makes accounting and payroll very seamless and much less time consuming than having to do it manually. The sleek look of the system as a whole fits into our design concept and gives us a clean look. The paperless solution of our kitchen has been huge with keeping track of orders and keeping waste to a minimum.

What do you dislike?

Set up is a bit time consuming and working through the first part with no experience can be frustrating. Some of the reporting can be difficult to navigate through. Customer support can be a little frustrating as they use overseas support. Some sales staff are tough to get a hold of and take a little long to return calls.

Clean Look, easy to use and easy to train new employees.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have been able to track sales and time of service from every angle throughout our business. Seeing things from a bigger picture helps us track sales and know what items are selling and items are not giving us a better idea as to what we should be focusing on. The biggest benefit is having the entire system monitored by Revel remotely so when there is an issue they can easily asses the situation and fix it quickly.

"We use Revel to handle sales and inventory for a museum gift shop."

What do you like best?

I use the export features to customize reports tailored to our business. Having the ability to load an actual count after an audit on inventory has been a life saver. The integration with QuickBooks online is easy to understand, map, and use.

What do you dislike?

We have anomalies that interfere with the network settings which cause devices to disconnect with the system. We have had the barcode scanner quit working several times. Troubleshooting this device has been difficult since it is hard wired into the network.

Recommendations to others considering the product

In the past year Revel has done a great job of refining their product and staying very competitive in their market. I have seen an increase in Revel systems being used in establishments in my local area. Their continued effort to refine their systems and seeing those systems in use gives me more confidence in the product meeting our requirements in the future.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have been able to identify problems with our structure by using Revel and it's reports. We have been over stocked on inventory due to purchasing not being managed. With Revel we can identify procedure problems and institute training procedures to relieve the misallocation of operating funds.

"COUNTRY MARKET "

What do you like best?

There are many features I like. I like being able to login on my phone and see what is happening in the store. I also like being able to compare month sales by quickly pulling up dates and seeing what was selling and not selling. It has helped us cut our slack products and improve our good ones.

What do you dislike?

I wish the inventory management was a little more robust. If your doing a PO you need to have to cost enter into the product. RIght now you have to enter the PO and enter the cost into each product (or spreadsheet). This is probably the biggest problem on our end.

It saves a lot of time for new employees. Saves alot of time finding reports.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have been able to track what is selling, start a loyalty program, and increase our speed of checkout. We switched from an old system to Revel and it has helped us take major steps in becoming a bigger store.

"Very Convenient"

What do you like best?

I really like that i am able to manage all of our locations from one place. It helps with specials and reporting and comparing how each location is doing.

What do you dislike?

It is very spendy if you add a lot of extras like rewards and gift cards and other terminals.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Recommend finding someone that is already using revel and going to them to see the product in person. My biggest problem was deciding on a pos because there are so many out there now. I think that revel is really good for someone like me that has many locations with big menus but if it is only one or two locations with small menu then other smaller options like square or clover would be better.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

we have many locations and different brands that are all under our main name. We have gift cards that we can use at all locations and rewards cards as well. Employees can also move from each location easier.

"Overview - good not great"

What do you like best?

Simple / Clean Interface.

Easy to setup

Easy to add additional stations

24/7 support is helpful

Basic reporting is good

Extensive Settings can allow the system to be customized a bit.

Basic inventory system is good.

Regular updates with more feautres.

Backend access for settings and reports from anywhere.

Can access multiple outlets from the same backend. No need for multiple logins.

What do you dislike?

No Advance Reporting, capability. Can only generate reports they provide.

Regular price increases.

Claims to have APIs that can be used to get more details but this is not true.

Feature request is bogus as there is no log or feedback provided.

Only works on apple ipads.

Need to be physically be in a restaurant to test different settings which are done on backend. Ideally shd be able to test the POS while offsite.

Cannot view reports based on day parts. So cannot see operations summary for lunch for the whole month. Can do it for just one day by selecting the time for that day.

Closed system. Will not integrate with any other system. Only with the ones they have listed probably on their website.

Reservation system is very basic and cannot be used offsite.

Have an iphone app for reporting which they charge extra per user, however it is not really useful.

Have an inventory app whixh again they charge extra per user. Do not know how good it is.

Charge extra for changing the kitchen print out view.

For most part will have to use the system as is. Any specific request based on your business needs will not be met.

POS system

Up to date system. Easy to instal and setup. No expert IT admins needed.

Backend management system is straight forward and can be used by non techy restaurant managers to view sales data and reports.

Provides basic inventory system, however is difficult to setup and reporting capibilties are lacking.

One system is being used for different industries.

Charge extra for enterprise level access to view group level reports.

"Seems like a lot to pay for a system with so many weaknesses."

What do you like best?

Very easy for new employees to get up to speed. Very easy to make changes to the menu. And, of course, historical data never goes away.

What do you dislike?

Reporting functionality is terrible. I am not able to install updates to the Revel software or the IOS because the system just would not operate properly and tech support was not able to resolve the issue.

Like anything else, begin by knowing your requirements. Then test the system against these needs.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We came from a system that was build in the 1990's. We had no historical data. Several times a year the static ram would fail. The fix was to reload the entire system and menu. And we would lose the day's transactions. So, we needed a robust system that solved these basic problems. In the deal, we get a much better user interface, robust time-keeping functions, and historic data retention.

"Ease of use for training"

What do you like best?

The revel platform is easy to understand and use. It’s quick functionality allows for faster training of employees as well as transactions at the counter. The back end is quick to make changes too.

What do you dislike?

The downside comes with the schedule feature. While simple to understand it’s too simple for my needs. A platform that would allow employees to change their availability and put in request off’s would be much more functional. I don’t use the scheduling portion because it’s missing this important piece.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were able to see how inaccurate employees were being with ringing in guests using the voids/ returns and error percentages. Now we’re tracking each on a daily basis for loss prevention and efficiency.

"A great system with immediate responsive customer service and tech support "

What do you like best?

That they are always improving the system to better support their clients. They listen to the feedback of clients and make changes immediately. There is always support available when you need assistance.

What do you dislike?

We are international business so I wish there were more user friendly features for selective countries like Mexico. I also which that for the retail side you could list 2 prices on the system front end and when it prints tags to show original price and sale price OR to give you the option to show different prices like currency prices in USD or MXN.

It is one of the most user friendly systems available and it has done very well for international business as we are based in Mexico and it has been very helpful for us.

Tracking inventory has been very helpful and tracking sales and all the sales reports helps alot.

"Good and improving"

What do you like best?

I like the ease of the back of the house feature.

What do you dislike?

Wish Revel had API - this would allow us to pull the data and utilize it more efficiently. When working in the back of house in one location, it will sometimes switch over to all locations? I think the Schedule and Time worked tabs look the same and they need to change the feature so the tabs can be identified more easily. When using the schedule and you email it out to the employees and they decline a day or the schedule it supposed to email that information to you however, no one is sure where that email goes.

Make sure it has all the features you need -- no all systems fit all needs.

The benefits are it's easy to make the changes that are needed to each location. Adding employees is a breeze!

"They sold us on a software program that was not the right product for our retail business."

What do you like best?

The box it came in. The equipment is an I pad, and cash drawer that worked fine. It would probably be great for a restaurant, but they shouldn't sell it for retail.

What do you dislike?

They oversold their applications. This is a restaurant software. Revel employees said it would work great with our retail business. The told us the inventory would integrate with Quick Books. It deleted all of our contacts from Quick Books. They milked us along for 2 years, saying the repairs were coming. We had to double enter all transactions. It was a nightmare for the 2 year period. We probably called them 8-10 days a month. Have to wait at least 20 minutes to contact an assistant, unless you are calling to purchase, then they answer right away. We switched to another software, but are still suffering the consequences.

Do not use for retail applications, if you are tying it to Quick Books.

None. Implementation of this product was huge loss for my company. Double entry of all transactions, inventory, sales, customers.

"Quick and easy to learn"

What do you like best?

The management console is easy to use. The layout is clear and direct to find where I need to go. I can schedule and track hours for each employee. I can also track my sale and work labor in one platform which allows me to clearly manage my business.

What do you dislike?

There should be an way to have customers digitally sign instead of printing out multiple receipts.

Its a friendly system that will help new owners start their business. It has a modern twist compared to previous POS systems that are clear to use and easy to maneuver.

Revel allows us to track our sales from a daily and hourly basis. This allows us to schedule as many or as little number of employees throughout the day at a certain time to maintain our balance of sale and labor.

"Growing with Revel "

What do you like best?

This program is very intuitive.

Everything just makes sense!

What do you dislike?

The updates have been problematic during peak hours in our business. The offline system never seems to work "just right", like explained initially (for a rural business this can be a problem when facing connectivity issues).

Would love to see a better "count" feature on the program for restaurants & also a mass messaging system to push out to all the in service ipads.

The cloud system is great and the overview of the program is really helpful when your running around like a crazy person and just need a really quick insight into how the day is going.

It's a straight forward back end that is easy to teach and maneuverable well on all devices.

"Great system, poor service"

What do you like best?

The system is reliable, robust and easy to use.

What do you dislike?

The rollout was not smooth, not all the equipment arrived on time. There is no service since we began running the system. I don't even know who handles our account any longer. We're looking at opening a new outlet, but I'm considering a different vendor with better service. I've actually recommended other systems to colleagues due to poor service.

It has made a tremendous difference in efficiency.

"Revel for Retail"

What do you like best?

Revel systems provided us an excellent POS system for a small Retail store. The setup of the back end and the management of the inventory system was very easy and straightforward. Technical Support staff always tries to resolve any issue or question in a timely manner.

What do you dislike?

Employee scheduling was limited in the system. You could not block out employees schedule dates if they were unavailable to work.

For Retail - layout your inventory groups and how much detail you will need to track on an inventory item before starting the back end inventory setup.

"Revel in Food Services"

What do you like best?

It is easy to add new products, look at inventory, and edit existing inventory. It is also visually appealing and clear. I also like that it provides to option to create and hold orders and invoices and to search by customer name, including all orders that are linked to that customer.

What do you dislike?

It is very particular about is order of operations which at times makes a simple task take a lot longer than necessary. It would also be helpful if a pop-up appeared with what the issue was that isn't allowing the user to move forward.

It is a quick way to look at sales and to stay on top of repeat orders for customers. It is also easy to add new daily promotions and discounts and similarly to remove those special promotions from the system. It is also a great way to store customer information.

"Not perfect...but no POS system is"

What do you like best?

The ease of use in the front end POS. The system is intuitive so training new staff members is very easy. Also the KDS is a great addition instead of using printed orders.

What do you dislike?

Backend has MANY features but not many get used by me. If there isnt a strong network signal and the different POS arent talking to each other properly, then there can be some confusion with the system. Some orders pop-up randomly or get deleted randomly.

"best way to check out patients"

What do you like best?

the revel system makes it easy for me to produce orders for patients where it is line item and i can see all payments and discounts.

What do you dislike?

the portion where it is not that easy to get a receipt. we need to wait for the receipt to be emailed to us instead of simply printing it out.

"Big time saver for book work."

What do you like best?

The thing I like most about the Revel System is that it connects with my quickbooks progam. So all of the financial information is there automatically, saving me hours of time every week.

What do you dislike?

The cost is a little high. I don't like the fact the only one person can check out a large group if the bill is being split.

You dont need a large number of units.

With the Revel system, I can see in real time what is going on. I can look up orders, see voids. I can also project my weekly payroll. So I dont over schedule.

"Quick but not user friendly in the field. "

What do you like best?

I like that each menu item on our POS is very clearly labeled, and can be put into sub categories that make finding an item easy. I do also like the swipe left and delete feature on SOME items.

What do you dislike?

As said above, if you click into the pay screen on accident, you can’t delete or add items without many additional steps. This makes it very time consuming when you have a long line. People also tend to change their mind a lot as we are a bakery. I also don’t like that they use a swipe. The card readers are terrible.

Not a great option if you are looking for something quick, speedy and user friendly. However the potential is very much there!

The iPads are nice and look great at the counter, and customers do seem to like that it’s (for the most part) a more streamlined way of checking out. It’s still very clunky for a POS system though in my opinion. It’s not built to use for swiftness and efficiency.

"Great POS for Small Liquor Store"

What do you like best?

The ease of use and simplicity of the system is great for our Small Liquor store. The Customer Service is also top notch.

What do you dislike?

You can not fully delete an item once created. You can only make it no active.

The ease of transaction and moving customers out with the system is the greatest problem solved with Revel. We have realized that you don need a complex or complicated POS system for POS solutions just an iPad and a few accessories that come pre-setup.

"Giving a 1 is gracious"

What do you like best?

Absolutely nothing. They have horrible customer service, and their interface/systems don't make any sense.

What do you dislike?

Their employees know nothing about what's going on. You're transferred to seventeen different people and no one has any idea what's going on. Their database doesn't work efficiently. When you complete an invoice, it will change the sales on a previous month which is an accounting nightmare.

Steer clear. Going with the cheaper price means you get what you pay for.

"Super platform "

What do you like best?

The versatility of Revel for shops and restaurants

Unable to split up two departments - so that shop sales does not effect the spend per head.

What do you like best?

I like that the system is on the iPad and can be replaced if dropped. Much easier than a huge cash register and the end of day closing is easier. The reporting is pretty good too.

What do you dislike?

I didn't have all the inventory and back of house functionality that I needed for a cafe with so many sku's. It couldn't handle the transfers from store to store.

Recommendations to others considering the product

Definitely worth a demo. If you have a company that requires multi-station and multi-unit then it is easy implementation and should you need a replacement, you don't have to wait for the vendor to come out and fix something or deliver something.

We needed a system that was more user friendly and wasn't as antiquated as some of the pos systems that are out there.

"Very usefull software"

What do you like best?

This is the most powerful tool any restaurant owner must have. Having all the information in real time is valuable.

What do you dislike?

They charge for every new “pluggin”, it makes it expensive some times for new little Coffe shops

"Great for hospitality industry "

What do you like best?

I like that you can change inventory if people change their minds at the last minute

What do you dislike?

I don't like that you have to be VERY careful when entering in the total when you are processing a payment one miss hit of not getting the decimal you could be charging someone a lot of money

"Management simplified."

What do you like best?

Reports are all neatly organized and presented. Filters available, charts and graphs already present, and great way to log hours.

What do you dislike?

Some aspects are harder to locate and use. The website is slightly slower than most sites. Experience gets better because you get used to it after a while.

What do you like best?

Revel has proven to be a reliable POS in our permanent locations as well as our temporary locations. We also utilize the time clock feature.

What do you dislike?

I believe Revel could improve their back-end inventory features and capabilities. New development seems to have slow progress.

"REVELing"

What do you like best?

as a bartender i use revel on a daily basis. i find it very user friendly and approachable especially with high volume. i like how personalized it can be depending on the needs of the specific location.

What do you dislike?

i don't think revel is always very efficient when considering what could be a potentially short transaction often becomes drawn out. most of the first time users seem blustered when trying to navigate all of the buttons and especially the background clutter they see when signing or picking tip percentages.

we are able to see our regular visitors with pop ups of how many times they have been into the brewery which helps us gage our regulars

I like how there are pictures for the products.

I love the simple interface. Makes it really easy to navigate and use quickly.

"Revel POS"

What do you like best?

Ease of use. Reporting is easily pulled and trackable. Discounts and customer formatting is decent.

What do you dislike?

Updates don’t always work well with other integrations. Inventory management is poor.

Works very well for simple structure, however doesn't integrate well with other software.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We use it as our main POS. It is sleek and fairly user-friendly.

"Lots of options for customization. Could be made easier to navigate"

What do you like best?

Easy to use once you set it up. Fast customer service.

What do you dislike?

Takes a bit of effort to customize. A lot of options and they are not always easy to find within folders and subfolders.

"Revel is AMAZING "

What do you like best?

I really love that I could go on at any given time and see results for any day

There us really nothing I don't like about this system

"Best POS I have ever used."

What do you like best?

Ease of use. Easy to place change and manage orders. Analytics are great.

What do you dislike?

Inventory is clunky. The unit by measure system is not conducive to inventory in a restaurant.

Use of analytics to improve all aspects of business.

"Very easy to use and program"

What do you like best?

It’s ease of use, it’s integration with other business apps/companies such as Vantiv and Loyalty Plant

Forced to be on an iPad. The stand it’s on is pretty terrible as well.

We are using it as our POS system. It’s super easy to interact with.

"Not for Everyone"

What do you like best?

POS on tablet is intuitive and easy to use.

What do you dislike?

Backend doesn't play well with the POS tablet. No easy product activity/history report.

Using for single station POS. Easily tracks sales and team member activity.

"Good POS software"

What do you like best?

multiple menus and color coding keep everything organized.

Option for multiple queues allow us to direct drinks to the bar and food to the kitchen.

What do you dislike?

Too many options and small buttons cause many cashiers to take longer on transactions bottle-necking the line.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The software allows us a POS option that allows us to drive business.

It doesn’t allow us to move as quickly as other POS options, but, it does give us a POS option that meets our needs.

"Convenient"

What do you like best?

This is a great POS system! It is easy to use and convenient with multiple employees.

What do you dislike?

Splitting tabs and doing refunds can get a bit confusing at times.

"Efficient and Streamlined for Ease of Use"

What do you like best?

Speed and efficiency of program - very little down time or glitches preventing us from having the most productive days possible.

What do you dislike?

After learning it thoroughly - there isn't anything I dislike at the moment.

It's great for low or high volumes of customers. Easy to use for multiple employees. Fast to learn.

Multiple employees working one unit to move product. Adding customer sales incentives has been easy by adding buttons that allow for discounts and bundling.
