## Retool Reviews
  ### 1. Excellent tool for quick prototyping and productivity. Easy to use and highly customizable.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luis Miguel S. | CEO, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retools is very easy to get started with, and at the same time, it is highly customisable, which makes it a very productive tool for creating a Proof of Concept (PoC) of any idea or overall to make any tool or experiment with ideas.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

There wasn't anything in particular that I disliked. Some things could have even additional functionality and flexibility points, but Retool is continuously working on the product/platform and improving it with more features and functionality, like the recent Retool Workflows which added a whole new dimension of possibilities!

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Experimenting with software development can sometimes be a bit costly because there are frontend concerns, backend concerns, system architecture, infrastructure, technology-specific matters, etc. Retool provides a comprehensive, streamlined and customisable development environment to visually create ready-to-use proofs of concepts and products, focusing on productivity and functionality. This saves a lot of time, costs and risk and allows for better software and a much friendlier and more accessible way to a broader audience.

  ### 2. A great tool that requires some technical knowledge

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marijn Q. | Marketing Executive, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like that it easily displays real-time data from a connected database. It seems very intuitive so far and has really sped up my workflow. I have little experience with other no-code tools, but for dashboards and visualisations, this one does the job

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

If you do not have some prior technical knowledge, you will struggle. It is a big step up from Zapier and Data Studio. You'll need a dev team to create the integrations.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted to have custom dashboards that displayed real-time data for unique teams and users. We had a system in place where the data analyst was the bottleneck, retool has resolved this issue.

  ### 3. Retool is intuitive and user-friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Retool?**

One of the things I appreciate most about Retool is its ease of use. The platform is intuitive and user-friendly, even for those with limited coding experience. The drag-and-drop interface makes creating new applications and customizing existing ones simple. Plus, the extensive library of pre-built components and integrations means that I can quickly build complex applications without starting from scratch.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

One potential drawback of Retool is that it can be a bit expensive for smaller organizations or individual developers.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool helps me connect to virtually any data source or API, and it has a massive help in solving customers' request

  ### 4. Simple and fast

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohab H. | Member experience in Tempo, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2023

**What do you like best about Retool?**

It is very effective when it comes to results, also it is very easy to use with many tools as well.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The interface is not cool, I would recommend to have a better interface

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Finding my work results when it is related to the customers such as their workout history, etc.

  ### 5. Terrible experince

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Retool?**

we favored them during the sales pitch but no actual delivery was made

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The vendor was the worst we've had in our company. They coerced us into signing a massive contract which we didn't require. Their performance was abysmal and their support is horrendous."

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

difficult, not user-friendly, poor speed, not a low-code platform; requires significant investment from your best developers to function optimally. Thus, it is illogical to purchase this platform.

  ### 6. Helpful all in one

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool combines a lot of backend areas into one resource to easily get to the information I need while clicking through sections of a single website as opposed to going between a bunch of tabs.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I wish it included more features but that may be something that is actually due to my company not having built certain things out to sync up.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Combined multiple sections into one dashboard

  ### 7. Get more value from your data in less time. Simples.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oliver B. | Head of Product and Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

We had a react web-app, served from an express-js server, pulling from a mongoDB (in the cloud). With ReTool, in less than two hours I rebuilt the core functionality of the web-app, allowing us to bin off the old one and the old server. I added features that have been on my "to-do" list for ages but have not had dev time for. It's a winner. I've already got my next 5 ReTool app ideas lined up!

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It's got limits on the number of users that can view/interact with your web-app, which for our use case means it's not well suited (we serve many low-value customers rather than a few high-value ones). But, as an internal tool for company use, it's great.

Oh, and if you need it to be super pretty, I don't think it's for you. I'm sure it could probably be done, but its focus seems to be on utility first (which suits me fine).

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1) stopping paying to manage infra that I don't need or want.

Using ReTool has allowed us to replace an internal tool for managing user-access to our mobile-app. The big 'win' here is that on-going dev-time is now zero for this tool. ReTool handle it's upkeep. We built it, but don't have to worry about keeping the server up, or managing library updates, or other such things. My only future dev spend will be to add more features - which is exactly where I want my spend to be.

2) getting to *information* quicker

We have weekly KPIs that are drawn from multiple data sources (analytics, stripe, our mongoDB). Previously we had to spend time in each to fetch the data we needed for those KPIs. ReTool does the manual fetching for me now, so I can spend more time responding to those KPIs

  ### 8. Code-less Internal Dashboards

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool makes it easy for users to quickly prototype and iterate on tools, and the wide range of integrations with other software and services (such as databases, rest APIs) etc. makes it very easy to use.

Love that you can load OpenAPI definitions and they just work

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Would be nice to be able to export a retool app into a native software package, or to have some buttons to deploy code on our own infrastructure without needing to roll out the full on prem solution

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building internal / support dashboards that would normally require full tech stacks and UI kits to achieve the same thing. Has saved us a lot of time when shipping in house solutions.

  ### 9. Make quick internal tools for power users

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gazala M. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

As a (mostly) backend engineer, I find Retool to be one of the best tools to quickly implement an internal tool that business users can use. I've never seen a similar tool before, and it blew my mind the first time I saw a demo! The best feature would be the easy switch between staging and prod environments.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Since the initial learning curve is so low, your first Retools will be inefficient. Take the time and learn the Version Control features and how to debug queries.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool lets non-front-end people create functional websites.

  ### 10. Reetool, a tool that always will help with processes to make them easier and compacted

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos Miguel d. | Customer Service Representative, Consumer Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Retool?**

You can take a lot of actions from Retool, from taking control of some user's pages or information, also responding to processes that need a hand by the support team

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It's not that well organized so you have to learn the pathways to go to the necessary tools, also sometimes the tools that need to be used it get blocked and you can't use it

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To block drivers for the stores that require it, or to request a particular assignment for a driver or a customer, it's simple and easy to make this assignment or tasks

  ### 11. Best tool for getting an app out quickly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Solomon R. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I wrote my API endpoints and I was able to quickly integrate with them and get a functional UI. This reduced development time by a lot and as a backend developer it made sure I could give something that was functional very quickly.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The documentation wasn't that great. Some examples in docs of how the raw javascript interacted with retool components would have been nice. The GCP integration is buggy, but I believe this is a known issue since there was a bug ticket.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps a developer get a product over the line without knowing much about front-end things and styling. I was about to complete my entire app in 3 days along with the tweaked javascripts.

  ### 12. Perfect/Quick way to create any type of app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaime C. | Head of Product and Data, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Flexibility to create whatever application our team needs. We have created apps for our finance, tech, product, and marketing teams without the need to involve our Engineering teams. It has many popular connectors and easy to use components.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

As of right now, there is not much I dislike about Retool. I think they can have a slightly better experience in the drag and drop builder, but overall everything works great.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can move way faster than before. This is extremely important for a start-up that needs to grow quickly. It was also allowed us to keep dedicated Engineering bandwidth on our product, while the rest of the team can focus on building apps and processes in Retool.

  ### 13. Simple to use but yet the most flexible and powerful low-code platform I've used

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rémi F. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Versioning, debugging tools and live preview are great addition

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Limitations in workflows. I know it is still in beta but need more features like external dependencies and versioning

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Internal process automation and standardization

  ### 14. Retool helps us speeding up building internal tools and demos

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Easy to get started, rich set of widgets to start. Support a variety of databases. (Postgres, MySQL, TiDB, etc)

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I like it in general. Not too many complaints.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Time to build the tool.

  ### 15. Retool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prasad H. | Senior Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Customisation and UI components, JSON query, API query.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Integrating js would be a little complex. It takes some to get hold of the tool. Please include more examples in the Doc

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Enhance to improve the MIS reports

  ### 16. Easy to use and fast!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hassan K. | Member Experience Associate, Health, Wellness and Fitness, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

It's straightforward, and I can instantly pull up a customer's device identification! I like that it doesn't consume much RAM and provides several features to adjust user permissions for every customer.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Nothing so far! It's convenient and super fun to use!

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Retool daily to pull up and track our customers' device data. It provides clear insights on workouts and the ability to modify user permissions. Retool makes those daily tasks very simple!

  ### 17. It has speeded up the development of some internal webapps for the digitization of even procedures

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alessandro C. | Freelance, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

It has speeded up the development of some internal webapps for the digitization of even complex procedures
Retool is a dashboard for the development of crud internal apps, it uses many sources including db, google sheet and more it is quite intuitive but it is equipped with a help done well and a good community

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I didn't like the ability to have single page webapps not linked together in different screens

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves crud app development quickly and with a nice UIX

  ### 18. The perfect capture for Data!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like that retool is easy to use to create whatever data capture tool you may need. Once its created the forms populate quick easily into a data table that is visible for all users.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I dislike that the Ui is not as friendly, but that is something that can be worked on.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its solving us from using a data sheet to capture bonus for the end of the month, its also saving us from having to use just another google spread sheet.

  ### 19. Sign up but only you want to get spammed by their email marketing

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Arnas K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The tool itself is okay, nothing special but the email marketing is so aggressive.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Email marketing. I received probably 40 emails and I'm not even exaggerating.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Nocode for dashboards.

  ### 20. Retool is a great option for folks looking to build internal tools without relying on engineers.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick S. | Senior Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I really like that retool's foundation is SQL + javascript, makes it complex enough to use but easy enough to google ways to make it work.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I think some of the javascript portions of the tool could be 'block coded' / off the shelf vs. having to be coded by users (or let users submit their own blocks).

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool is bridging the gap between something like Zapier and trying to build our own internal tool from scratch.

  ### 21. Developing internal tools has never been easier

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sathya H. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The drag and drop UI components, easy to setup data connections, customizability just to name a few

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

No real downsides. The product is excellent. We have not yet tested several aspects of the product.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Developing internal tools is a painful process. Retool has made this so much easier. We have increased the productivity of our ops and engineering team significantly.

  ### 22. Powerful tool for all users!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kenny B. | Sr. Manager of Product, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The ability to quickly standup mini-apps to help our internal staff operate more efficiently. With Technical resources at a premium, the ability for a product manager to stand up to these apps has saved us money and time across the board.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Sometimes we are limited due to the in-bowser memory. Running some processes in bulk crashes the system so either it needs to be divided up into smaller runs or run through another application.

**Recommendations to others considering Retool:**

Identify a few apps you think you would use Retool for to start. Install a trial and just see how easy it is. The key with Retool is that you have to have the API's and database access and support to be successful.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solve internal support problems and configuration. Allowing Retool to house apps to allow our staff to get to the information that may not have a UI wrapped around it or the ability to join multiple data sources together is key.

  ### 23. Tens of thousands of dollars for 5 users to limit production database access

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Being able to deploy it inside of our own cluster has been great, and it's easy and quick to create apps that help internal business processes. We actually really, really like the core product offering.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

We have only 5 users that need to use the tool, but importantly we want 4 of them to just be able to view apps we've created, not edit them. This becomes really important because we are in a data-regulated industry and so we don't want them to be able to have edit/unrestricted read access to our production database, which is what allowing them to edit apps would essentially be. To accomplish this seemingly simple ask (we're not looking for advanced permission groups - literally just a way to prevent unrestricted database access) - we were quoted many, many tens of thousands of dollars on their enterprise plan. I found this insulting and really quite stunning that such an important product requirement is an "enterprise" usecase.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

An internal dashboard to help manage customer accounts.

  ### 24. Very easy to build without code!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francey F. | Manager of Customer Support, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Simple and intuitive to use, anyone can build an app within Retool with no coding required!

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Can get quite slow and laggy depending on what features you're using

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've been able to save thousands of dollars by using Retool to help us build vs. buying a 3rd party software for each indivudla issue

  ### 25. Retool is great to use and the documentation is pretty clear.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Veltson B. | Head of Partnerships, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I get suggestions on what to type for code. This helped me overcome the learning curve and made it easier to build things quickly. I have not used a competitor so I don't know how Retool would compare, but just in general good documentation that covers as many situations as possible is always the best.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I wish there were more Javascript query examples. Unless if that example is the real only way to be able to use Retool with JS. I felt pretty confused on how to manipulate different aspects of my table with Javascript and still don't really know how to do much more than the example given.

**Recommendations to others considering Retool:**

Make sure you know SQL- helped me get up and running quickly. (Simple SQL statements are easy enough to learn though.)

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned above the only problem is not knowing how to fully use the JS Queries. I want to run an API call on about 9000 rows of data, and the API takes a while. The only way I have it set up is that I have to wait till the whole query is done before I can repopulate my table with the results- which just feels very hacky. I think there is a better way to do it, but trying to find it was hard. The benefits I realize are how powerful the UI is. I love the fact that I can easily build out these widgets and the biggest benefit of Retool is the ability to just manipulate the data easily in a safe read-only ara. I know that's one of the core product offerings, but it's just nice.

  ### 26. Very Impressed so far

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason L. | S, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I enjoy that Retool, as far as I can tell, is a javascript GUI overflowing with connectors. I haven't coded in javascript in 20 years yet still found it incredibly intuitive to sketch out my first application from start to finish within about a day, integrating feedback just as quickly. I was able to rapidly integrate back-end views I had created to support this without having to fiddle with connection strings or anything like that. I enjoy the fact that just about any input can be controlled by passing javascript statements, and that once you understand this the sky is the limit.

I do not have enough experience with similar tools for comparison to identify deficiencies. I have also been using this tool for ~ two weeks, so asses my feedback in that context. Most of my experience is in analytics, working primarily in SAS, R, Python, and various implementations of SQL.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Retool is great for rapidly building new apps for internal users and iterating through them. It is very flexible and customizable. This makes it very powerful. However, it suffers the same risk in the development space as Excel has in the financial space: it seems subject to the whims of the user and could easily lend itself to nightmare code and nightmare maintenance. In the right hands, it is perfect for its intended use case but may draw lesser-experienced users into building infrastructure off of it instead of relying on the engineering teams where that work is more appropriate.

**Recommendations to others considering Retool:**

It is as powerful and flexible as Excel is in other domains, with similar risks.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Rapid development and iteration for approvals and denials in our process flow. We can test ideas in real-time, identifying flaws before trying to engage engineers.

  ### 27. the best no code tool I've seen so far, Retool are visionaries in the field

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I love everything, but mostly, the ability to run AWS lambda functions directly from the tool help me to develop and operate my platform with great comfort and ease

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

nothing, I really like the toolit's a great tool

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

helping me to reduce the amount of time our team spends on internal tools developments

  ### 28. This is an incredible tool.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steven J. | Full Stack Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The CEO was first reluctant when I first showed it to him, but when I started building tools in 10x the speed that I would have to implement it from scratch, he was converted.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Please please please add mulitple tag support for tables. They would look so much better than the current JSON viewer.

Typescript support. This would be a serious gamechanger for me.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool removes the burden of having to build UI components simply to display analytics or to look at a database. I can pile up multiple database connections without facing any issues.

  ### 29. Ease of use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philip L. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

We are able to build tools for our internal teams quickly. We save numerous amount of engineering hours because of retool as we save the work to build out the UX.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Retool is not cheap if users are not using the tool for their day-to-day work. Retool app that uses REST endpoint does not allow anonymous users to use the app. That is inconvenient and not cost effective for some of our apps.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Save engineering hours in building internal tools

  ### 30. Awesome toolkit to build internal tools at the speed flash :)

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dipu S. | Engg, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Drag and drop option to build productive layouts that scale with Adhoc task requirements. Awsome low code tool to build ad-hoc/planned dashboards. Other features like action flow builders have made it fairly good to design decent level systems.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Operation speed and contextual speed could have been a bit better though it serves the use case. Building high quality/functional tool require potential knowledge of SQL, Would be great if it also explores the no-code domain.

**Recommendations to others considering Retool:**

Great low-code tool to meet up requirements in less time, allows to build sustainable workflows which can bring desirable results.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Internal tools for ops and sales team for high impact Adhoc tasks. A great tool to manage records/transaction/workflow for low/medium scale.

  ### 31. Review Retool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sajid Magadi S. | Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The way data is organised in retool is great.. multiple queries, customisable queries etc.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Its slow sometimes. I am not sure its due to internal or external dependency

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its a order management tool for us.. all backend activities are done here.

  ### 32. App and module features are excellent an super easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gustavo S. | Engineering Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

App and module features. It allows me to create administrative templates in a matter of minutes. It is really useful to create the backoffice of my company

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I would like to be able to organize the modules within subfolders, but at this moment it is not possible.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly create interfaces to manage content

  ### 33. Retool has been an excellent tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

It makes it super easy to put together operational and internal tools without needing to use engineers. It saves us a lot of time and engineering resources since Product Managers can build those tools themselves.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

If you don't take extreme cart, it can be pretty difficult to keep track of all the variables you're using. It should also be simpler to trigger mutations by passing them variables.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Retool to build our internal tooling and it provides us a low-code platform to connect with our internal API's to build experiences for our operations users. Using retool we can build these things much more quickly and iterate on them without needing to divert engineering resources.

  ### 34. Perfect tool for rapid development of Internal Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jan Daniel S. | VP Global IoT Solutions, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The various integrations, how easy it is to build new tools. The development is straightforward, and integration into Databases and other tools becomes very simple and can be done without the significant support of Software Engineers.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The number of modules and queries become pretty hard to handle very quickly. It's missing features to help organize different elements of an application. Sutruuringing of modules and questions could be done better.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spending Engineering Resources on building internal management and Admin tools is a complex trade-off. Everyone knows it benefits internal processes in the long run, but it is harder to justify compared to customer requests and customer-facing features. So having a tool that significantly reduces the time required to build internal management and admin tools is a must-have. Retool is filling that perfectly.

  ### 35. Retool just works.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I used retool for an internal tool, and it let me build a dashboard on top of Postgres for others to use on the team, and it was great to build in.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Learning curve was a bit steep initially, but I was able to figure it out quite fast as it's based on JS + SQL

**Recommendations to others considering Retool:**

Make a postgres admin dashboard even easier to build

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool is making it easy for me to build internal tools without having to waste hours on authentication/access control + UI design. It lets me put more time into the actual product rather than on internal tooling.

  ### 36. Good RAD environment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francis G. | engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

No server to manage.
Easy to use with external APIs so no need to give a 3rd party website direct DB access.
Great support.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Javascript is finicky and difficult to debug.
Retool would benefit greatly from an integrated debug suite of tools so we don't have to debug from the browser like we're still in 1999.

**Recommendations to others considering Retool:**

N/A

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to develop internal tools like customer support.
We can easily setup 3rd party partners with a secure Retool instance so we don't have to deal with our company firewalls, auth, etc.

  ### 37. A little intimidating at first but impressed with development speed

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Was able to create an admin interface very fast. Developer friendly.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Didn't find a clear documentation on how to achieve certain things (filtering some data before sending it to server, the possibility to use lodash in js expressions) - resorted to google search to find that out.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Build internal company tools without code.

  ### 38. Best tool for simplifying dashboards

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashwini H. | Performance Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The tool is sued to create UI dashboards which can be linked to your website through API. The best part is that we can always customize it based on our needs. We used it for KYC dashboards.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It is linked to Google Sheets as a backend support sheet which is good for cloud options but is not well for large databases. This makes the tool very slow at times.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool has solved real-time issues related to KYC flows for us. There have been cases where retool has been far better compared to the Native CRM that we possess.

  ### 39. Great tool for small businesses

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mason R. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2021

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool is excellent for making quick apps to manage the internals of a small business better. The best part about Retool is how it can connect to existing data sources, keeping a single source of truth for essential data. We connected directly to our website's already existing product database to give our sales team a clearer view of all of our products.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It's hard to find things to dislike about Retool, most problems are just minor annoyances. For example the Table component can't be displayed as an infinite scrolling table (such as AirTable or Google Sheets) and must be paginated.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool gives our team better tools to view our products, add internal notes, and display sales. Our sales team can easily filter products, for example, to find products released after a specific date. We also have a Retool app for displaying the sales that we have made, which includes beautiful graphs and charts to see how our business is doing. Retool has been able to save the precious time of our staff and give us a better sense of our company's status without having to chart sales figures manually.

  ### 40. A racecar for development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Devon S. | Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

More people can now develop LOB software

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

There is nothing to dislike, so much to like

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing executives and staff to see how our users are experiencing the app. We've benefited from faster development time and increased velocity.

  ### 41. Good tool but very slow

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sakshi S. | Quality lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

It help me in every field that I have,Its very easy to use and I can easily acces everything, so easy to adapt the changes as well.overall it's agood experience

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It is very slow like takes so much time to load whenever I try to open a page it takes 2,3 seconds and then that page will open, it's very disappointed and takes a lot of time

**Recommendations to others considering Retool:**

I recommend it as it is good

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am in quality team and I check all the answers provided by the students and tutors in one page so it's very easy for me to analyse the performance of tutors by retool over its very nice experience

  ### 42. Excellent app for quickly getting things done

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Love the flexibility to create lots of different apps. The integrations with all the different third parties is really helpful. In other tools I had to map out the APIs for third parties. In Retool, the API already existed with hundreds of endpoints and the variables already mapped out so it made integration really easy and quick.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Having a development background, it would be better to have more tools orientated to development of the javascript code

**Recommendations to others considering Retool:**

Give it a go and you'll see how powerful and easy it is

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quickly made small apps to solve simple business problems where they don't need full database access, but do need to update a few rows with some data, so we can restrict a db user to that and give them a functional user interfere to make it really simple and quick for them

  ### 43. Great Ideology, Growing Pains still around

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tristan D. | Intermediate Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The developere experience is clean and simple. It is difficult to do things that will break unexpectedly. Powerful yet intuitive. Nice. It's the future.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It's slow at times, and it's difficult to make faster. There have been some major bugs, and the stability and consistency of the feature set isn't quite where it needs to be.

**Recommendations to others considering Retool:**

I'd back this horse, be prepared to train with it for a couple years though.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building internal tools, and helping launch external ventures. Benefits are the time to launch, the easy upskilling and intuitiveness. Most all relevant options are presented at the right times, in the right way.

  ### 44. Perfect platform for startups rapidly building internal tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool is an insanely fast tool for rapidly prototyping new applications and deploying into production environments. 95+% of the components required are available and immediately work out of the box with minimal onboarding. The development interface is very intuitive. As a developer I found myself rarely needing to refer to docs.

Any startup quickly building applications or large organization re-thinking back-office utilities should consider Retool. I rarely write reviews; this is one of those cases where I have been so impressed by a product that I am going out my way to share.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Performance could be improved. It's not a blocker, but there is additional query overhead that requires tuning.

Applications are not as snappy as a fully custom solution, especially for repetitive tasks that require data loading, e.g. quickly flagging results in a table with a checkbox. For our usage, this is an easy trade-off for the speed of application development and low maintenance requirements.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to replace custom administrative tooling (React + Blueprint and Spring Boot) in a matter of days and quickly augment with new features. Development speed is easily 10x vs custom build.

  ### 45. Great tool for building internal tools

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pete A. | Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like using Retool to build UIs based on data from our database.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Thus far, it hasn't been easy for me to utilize the rest endpoint that relies on pagination. Maybe I need to watch some tutorials or something, but I haven't figured it out yet.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had a problem where we needed to show non-developers a quick snapshot of our database. There are other tools other than Retool that allow this, but they don't have the option to also call APIs.

  ### 46. Retool powers billing and customer operations workflows

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cooper W. | Business Development Representative, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like the extensibility of Retool. It allowed us to build a very intuitive sales dashboard that gives insight into customer account usage, payment details, and hosts several integrations for us as well.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The tool itself can be slow oftentimes, and I've found that it can sometimes take a while to refresh or get stuck on a certain page. Overall those are not huge pains but worth noting.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our problem was not having one consolidated place to see insights on our customers' usage and hold all of their billing information associated with their account. We were able to design the system so it hosts all this info and allows us to turn certain features on/off for our customers.

  ### 47. Simple and fast way to create UIs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Berk E. | Site Reliability Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

It has all the components needed to create a UI, both basic and advanced stuff. Also lots of customization options for each of these components.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Exporting apps as static files and directly hosting them on our own

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can develop UIs much faster. We spend less time on developing UIs and more time on more features or more projects.

  ### 48. Easy and useful

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 19, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

It is very intuitive, you don't need too much programming knowledge to build dashboards.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Sometimes it is hard to find what you are looking for. The screen gets too crowded, I believe there should be a better way to organize things.

**Recommendations to others considering Retool:**

I think it is an easy and intuitive way to build your custom business tool adapted to your needs.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it for ticket management and to analyze ticket submissions. Also, we use different dashboards to see who is available in our app.

  ### 49. Easy to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taylor M. | Head of Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The diversity of drag and drop components and configurations offered for each covers almost all use cases.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Sometimes it's hard to achieve the desired visual layout with the mouse, but the keyboard backup for precise positioning is helpful.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Internal tools for a non-technical media publishing team. No direct access to the database is needed. No separate web app codebase or server management.

  ### 50. The Best App for Internal Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amir G. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The past part of ReTool is how easy it is to gather data from multiple sources and build a highquality internal tool that anyone at our company can use.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I dislike the front-end of the application. At times it can be a little slow trying to build out the front-end.

**Recommendations to others considering Retool:**

This is the best tool to manage all of your external data and build internal tools.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've solved a lot of problems at our Company using Retool. Some of them including managing our Quotes with customers, managing internal analytics, and vehicle management.
