I would not have finished my dissertation without RescueTime. Everything about it is essential. It automatically tracks my on-computer time, gives me the option of tracking off-computer time, and sends me stats each week. With the paid version you also have the ability to block applications/ websites that drain your productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There isn't much that I dislike about RescueTime. Maybe that it's possible to get bogged down in settings on the dashboard... or that I had a hard time coming up with meaningful categories for my offline time. The one tricky thing is that some of my research (my work) is based on social media, and RescueTime automatically blocks that, but that was easy to change as I needed (most of the time I left it though, because social media is a total drain).
