Even after a week and spending over $60 could not even get basic functionalities in. It makes mistakes and charges credits. Then it says I am sorry I will fix it, but still charges credits. Before you know it credits already exhausted and then gives you option to upgrade to $100 and more. There is no small next pack to buy few more credits to complete the app. It is shady, greedy, useless, brainless app, someone created just to get free money while wasting user's time. I lost week's worth of time, trying to get basic functionality but it goes in circles for an hour then comes back not doing anything but charging credits saying I worked 1 hour or so and so... **What do you dislike about Replit?** Shut this dumb app and stop messing with people's time and money. **What problems is Replit solving and how is that benefiting you?** Replit solves my problem of starting a business. ### 2. The browser-based IDE is fast, collaborative features work well, and the AI coding assistant is helpful. For quickly prototyping and deploying projects, few platforms are as frictionless. I wanted to love Replit — the product itself deserves better than the billing practices surrounding it. **What do you dislike about Replit?** The billing system is confusing and feels designed to generate extra charges rather than help users. When I ran out of credits, I upgraded to Teams to avoid overages. Replit never told me that my existing projects would stay in a separate workspace with separate billing. I kept working on the same project, assuming the upgrade had fixed the problem. It hadn't — I was charged $114 in overages that my upgrade was meant to prevent. No prompt to transfer projects. No warning I was in the wrong workspace. No notification when I exceeded limits. Just charges. Support acknowledged the confusion but refused a refund, offering $30 on a $114 problem. Cancelling subscriptions was equally frustrating — there's no clear path in the dashboard. The UX around billing feels like a dark pattern: easy to upgrade, hard to understand what you're paying for, harder to cancel. **What problems is Replit solving and how is that benefiting you?** Replit solves the problem of setting up development environments — you can start coding in seconds without local setup, which is great for prototyping and solo projects. Unfortunately, the billing issues I experienced outweighed these benefits. I ended up spending more time dealing with unexpected charges and confusing workspace structures than actually building. I've since moved to alternative platforms where the pricing is transparent and predictable. ### 3. It's a really cool product because I don't have to bounce around between different tools. It automatically connects everything I need, and I can use my external tools and external APIs. It guides me through the process, making everything a lot easier. **What do you dislike about Replit?** They are a newer product in the AI space, and I get there are gonna be bugs. It's how you respond to those bugs that is the big differentiator. Replit has shown that their support teams, their executive team, and their engineering teams don't care about bugs. They don't care if customers have spent thousands on an application that has bugs, even though you've reported them. You've given them permission to look at your code, done everything they've asked, and they still don't care. They either ignore your emails. So what can be improved is their entire customer experience. Plus, they made changes back in about June on how things get pushed to production and didn't tell anybody because their support is not very good. **What problems is Replit solving and how is that benefiting you?** Replit allows me to create applications without deep development knowledge, saving time and money. ### 4. It allowed me to create an app specific to my needs without having a background in coding, which I found to be incredibly valuable. Initially, the setup was easy and the interface intuitive, requiring only a small adjustment period. **What do you dislike about Replit?** I dislike how Replit's updates have greatly increased data usage, making it inefficient for me. One particular update made my app completely unusable and Replit did not help resolve this issue, even after I used many months worth of credits trying to fix it. Customer service was extremely unhelpful and I received no support in getting my app back online. Given the time and money I spent creating it, this was very disappointing. Additionally, I had to end my subscription prematurely because the service was just so bad. My project started promisingly but quickly turned into a complete disaster, ending with the total abandonment of the project due to Replit’s incompetence and abusive business practices. 1. Deliberate blocking and client retention tactics After deciding to migrate my project to Google Cloud, Replit blocked the authentication process for 10 full days without any valid reason. This deliberate stalling appears to be a tactic to prevent customers from leaving the platform, effectively trapping them into staying for hosting and backend services. 2. Hidden dependencies and abusive charges To try to escape this lock-in, I had to pay over $1,600. Later, because of hidden dependencies tied to Replit’s system, I was forced to pay another $600 just to return — yet the issue remained unresolved. Even one of their own agents (Agent 3) admitted that these charges were “abusive” and abnormal. 3. Unauthorized billed services The same agent confirmed that Replit was running servers in the background without the customer’s knowledge, generating unauthorized charges. Such behavior is unacceptable and unethical. 4. Incompetent and exhausting support Although polite, their support team is untrained and ineffective. One of their agents (Agent 4) lacked technical understanding and short-term memory, forcing me to repeat the same explanations for hours. After 10 exhausting days of circular conversations, I was left mentally drained and sleep-deprived — with no progress at all. 🔚 Conclusion Replit gives the illusion of a modern, flexible platform, but behind the glossy interface lies a closed, overpriced, and mentally draining system. My project was completely abandoned after spending over $2,600 and wasting valuable time. I am now pursuing a chargeback through my bank, as the promised service was never delivered. 💬 In short: Replit promises speed and simplicity, but delivers frustration, stress, and financial loss. Avoid this modern scam at all costs before you lose your time, money, and peace of mind. ### 6.
