This means certain apps don't work with Shift, vCita and now ManageWP being the primary ones causing me most concern and frustration at the time its taking to fix. The memory footprint is the biggest benefit for me, as a consultant working with many clients, I used to have a myriad of tabs open for each project inside Chrome, now I use Shift instead and can easily arrange all the apps I need access to in a worspace, much easier to use. I used to rely on Mozilla Thunderbird for email, but that led to complicated setup, huge MBOX files taking up lots of disk space. Now, I simply add my personal GMail and Google Workspace to Shift and have easy and seamless access to personal and business email. Bottom line, it's brilliant to have access to everything I need under one roof, no multiple browsers or apps needed any more, it just works, and works beautifully. I literally use Shift every single day and one of the things I like most about Shift is that I can have a desktop app feeling with a browser-centric solution. I don't like having to open up a browser and then login to my Gmail accounts. With Shift, I can have multiple Gmail accounts in one desktop view and easily see what I need to see to communicate with others more efficiently and effectively. This is going to be more operator error that an issue with Shift itself, but when initially installing the desktop application, it kept wanting to act like a browser window than my email client. Occasionally, my email accounts fail to sync, which means I have to keep signing in repeatedly. Switching between apps can also be problematic. For instance, when I try to move from one app to Google Docs to copy and paste something, it often doesn't work as expected. Shift makes it easy for me to see my email accounts, Slack workspaces (I use mulitple), and other productivity tools all in one window. I appreciate the "unread" icons that let me know at a glance what needs my attention. It's easy to switch back and forth among the various email accounts I manage, as well as use integrated apps like Google Suite, Spotify, and Amazon. I like that I can navigate to everything in one window without cluttering my screens. I use Shift every day in work life, and have for several years. I am willing to continue to subscribe to Shift because it's easy to use and I see an improvement in productivity when I use it. It's easy to install (and uninstall) apps when getting started, and I like that I stay signed in across all of my accounts. I am required to re-authenticate my log-in credentials periodically, but it's not often enough to be burdensome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Shift? Using apps within Shift takes some getting used to, and if you prefer to work on several different Google Docs at one time, you probably don't want to install the Docs app, as the app limits you to one open document at a time. It's nice to have quick shortcuts to Google Suite products and other apps (Spotify, Pinterest, Amazon). Installing the app means I can quickly navigate to my most-recent documents using the icon (vs a tab). My complaint is that it's only the most recent document. I'd love to be able to "pin" one more documents to the app icon, so those documents that I use and reference every day are always available, without having to navigate back to Google Drive or other subfolders to find what I need. I manage mulitple email and social media accounts in my job, and Shift helps me keep everything organized and in one place. I'm able to sort the apps I've installed based on the email account I use with them, so for our organization's generic email account, I can keep that account and Slack open in one place. For my personal work email account, I keep all of my Google Suite products, as well as the browser windows that I use daily in one place. I am also able to keep an eye on my personal email account for school notices, etc. All of these accounts are easily idenifiable in the side bar, and I am able to quickly see where I have new messages, all in one window and on one screen.
