**Reviewed by:** Asad K. | Technical CARE Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

RH OCP is a complete PaaS solution in itself. Not only for developers but also for deployment & configuration engineers that manage & create the underlying infrastructure for cloud-native applications. Along with that, it has been secured by RedHat which acts as an extra layer of trust for its users

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Just like any other product in this area RH OCP also needs improvement in managing the overall logging & monitoring solutions integrated with the PaaS layer. The solutions lags an in built monitoring solution that can extract all the Linux & K8s based metrics of the underlying infrastructure

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hosting a containerized application in a comparatively lesser resource-intensive infrastructure.
Lifecycle management of the application i.e. the CNFs in case of Telcos is relatively easy with RHOCP

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hemendra C. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

It is easy to learn and manage after you learn basic Kubernetes concepts. It provides guard rails and tools to make managing Kubenetes easier . Especially OCP4 addressed several challenges in OCP3 so becoming more user friendly .

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

We want to dynamically adjust spinning up and down of our batch applications that only run at night , but we end up consuming capacity anyway to gurantee availability of system resources.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deploying on-prem containerized applications in consistent manner and allowing scalability .

 ### 17. Openshift as on orchestration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shaharyar Y. | Information Technology System Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

It provides you with a centralized environment to orchestrate or scale up your applications.
Also, a framework independent container platform along with the complete tracking of your resource utilization of all of your deployed applications.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

As the community is so small, there is less documentation available.
Also, it is not compatible with every other operating system you can only have a minimal choice of selection between them.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

While moving from hypervisor to redhat openshift. It was easy to migrate between the ESXi used virtual machines and openshift on-prem environment. As it is partnered with IBM, so we used IBM Cloud paks for NOI to migrate it.

 ### 18. current base of all technology

it

 ### 19. Its flagship product is the OpenShift Container Platform

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muktesh K. | SDE 2 (R&D), Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

it is very easy to understand and helful in day to day work

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

OpenShift is based on Kubernetes and we try to use all the Kubernetes objects of OpenShift. We don't use features that are specific to OpenShift, except internal certificates for the services. The one feature that is missing from Kubernetes and that is really useful in OpenShift is the lifecycle of the cluster and the ease of installation. We use VMware and VMware integration internally with the OpenShift installer, which is very good. With OpenShift it's easy to spin up or scale out a cluster.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its security is most valuable. It's by default secure, which is very important.

 ### 20. Openshift OCP

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Attilio V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

One of the standout features of OpenShift is its ability to support multiple languages and frameworks, including Java, Python, Node.js, and more. This makes it incredibly flexible and easy to use for developers of all backgrounds.

Another benefit of OpenShift is its extensive security features, which help ensure that applications running on the platform are secure and compliant with industry standards. From secure container image registries to fine-grained access control, OpenShift provides a wide range of security measures that can be customized to meet the specific needs of each organization.

In addition, OpenShift is highly scalable, making it a great choice for organizations that need to rapidly deploy and scale their applications. Its support for both on-premises and cloud-based deployments also makes it a versatile choice for organizations with varying infrastructure needs.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

While Red Hat OpenShift is a powerful and popular container application platform, there are some potential downsides to consider.

One issue is that OpenShift can be complex to set up and manage, especially for those who are new to containerization and DevOps. While there are many helpful resources available, including detailed documentation and training courses, it may still require a significant investment of time and resources to get up and running.

Another potential drawback is that OpenShift can be expensive, especially for larger organizations or those with complex deployments. While the platform offers many powerful features, including advanced security and scalability, these can come at a premium price.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Centralice the managment of the entire K8s solution, bakcup, monitoring and uses the resources of the cluster in the best posible way. This is our predilect solution for k8s managment

 ### 21. Telco Adoption of Openshift

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

The Reliability which is most important for Telco Operators to meet the stringent requirement of SLA and KPI.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Regarding the issue is concerned, Redhat should focus on the licensing model particularly for ORAN deployments. The scale is very high and some out of the box licensing model needs to be thought out so the overall TCO is viable for the customers

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

If we look at the Telecom industry landscape the , Vmware had the major share , but slowly what we are observing that due to the disaggregated approach, the industry is going through Open shift is becoming the choice for the customer. Multiple different Network workloads can run on the same Openshift platform, connectivity between different network components is very easy. The availability of the different CNI plugin makes it really helpful.

Virtual desktop are kind of old infrastructure, as currently most doesn't prefer working on vd , they use cloud platform with accessing from there device not from a vdi

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Realtime monitoring, different log level approach in monitoring. Disabling service on UI level or stopping th service for while.Application management will be great

 ### 24. Superb OpenShift!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kapil K. | Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

While comparing openshift with other container orchestration, ease of deployment with strong security feature set makes OpenShift a bit ahead, since it's not open sourced and required subscription you'll have TAC support to deal with operational work.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Since OpenShift frameworks encourages more on security complaint(as soon as you start building), real time interactive applications are not the best suited to use OpenShift because that may introduces some latency. instead, remain the first choice for highly sensitive financial organisations to go with OpenShift

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenShift seems to be an easier option to manage with its many built in features set. Security at core, it's a best to have for many govt and healthcare agencies like UHG etc.

 ### 25. Best open source platform to manage micro service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vibhash K. | OpenShift Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

First of all it is open-source PAAS platform which is based on kubernetes .
As we all know currently kubernetes is the best platform to orchestrate container micro services so OpenShift provides extra features over kubernetes like automated workflow.
Openshift has best UI which allows us to have good visibility to implement and monitor over all services ,it also offers feature of graphical interface which allows us to build, deploy, scale, monitor and implement every task from a browser.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

There is no dislike we can say of Openshift as an application only one thing i feel that there is no much material to learn Openshift for free on open source platform like Udemy,YouTube, etc.
So for newbies it's hard to learn about it.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am currently working for a banking client where we handle all the micro services with the help of Openshift .
It provides lot of facilities to build, deploy, scale all the services on this platform very easily.
It also help us to monitor all the micro services and provides very rich UI and graphical interface to understand it.

It's a great solution to host all types of application workloads. It's easy to setup once you get a hang of it. My team has been trained by RedHat training team so they are awesome at it.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Dislike is a strong word but Red Hat needs to compliment their products with right architecture and design services to achieve a higher level of success for their clients are partners.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have become very agile as an application, Our performance has improved 10-15%, Our pace to go to market has tripled. Our clients can now reap the benefits of an agile platform and make business changes faster than ever.

Easy to deploy and easy to understand what's happening. Especially like the ability to edit and apply YAML manifests directly from the OCP console.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

It can be a little intimidating at first for someone like me who isn't a K8 master. The side tabs on the interface always feel like I am searching every single one to find what I am after.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making the complexity of containers simple, or at least as simple as it can be. I find it is an easy jumping off point and cuts down on barriers to entry in K8.

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

I believe the stronger part when compared to other orchestration platforms is the security and inbuilt security features which kind of distinguishes it from others

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

The community is very small which can help you out.
The environment is not flexible enough like where you can set it up as they are limited to RHEL.
The logs part should become a little easier

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've tried to use OpenShift for Container Orchestration and eventually moved to Kubernetes itself as , to managed Service. Base part is the orchestration of containers
