Easy Openstack Deployments / Upgrades but comes at a cost. **Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Farhad S. | Cloud Infrastructure Head, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2023 **What do you like best about Red Hat OpenStack Platform?** Production grade Openstack deployments and upgrades (especially upgrades) are a cloud operator's nightmare. RHOSP takes the pain away since the Redhat engineers do the heavy lifting for you. **What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenStack Platform?** Understandably due to the amount of testing that is required, the RHOSP release is significantly behind the community edition release. RHOSP is currently at W release whilst the CE release is at Antelope and soon to release Bob. The cost of RHOSP is not for the faint hearted either. **What problems is Red Hat OpenStack Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** Looked into RHOSP to ease our Openstack release upgrade nightmares. It seemed like it would have eased the upgrade process significantly. ### 2. So I have a not little experience in Cloud operations with many other products, So I can say OSP is the best Cloud PaaS I have used. what I like in Red Hat OpenStack is that we can manage distributed compute node with one control zone using DCN feature thats available starting OSP version 13. **What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenStack Platform?** OSP is such an amazing platform but mainly I have 2 concerns, first for the HORIZON component I just advise making the GUI user interface more powerful and adding all the features that's can be done through the OVERCLOUD CLI to the Horizon GUI. the second is related to major release upgrade and batches I want the upgrade process is to be minimized and easier. **What problems is Red Hat OpenStack Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** As i mentioned for the features that I like, I love the DCN feature that allows us to distribute edge compute nodes in a remote location without investing in a new cloud, Also, I would like the way of integrating the RH OpenStack with Ceph storage. both are providing a very reliable Cloud. ### 4. Good Open source platform. Due to Openstack modularity you could meet few issues and bugs. The support can exceed acceptable response time while the issue seemed easy to fix **What problems is Red Hat OpenStack Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** Private Cloud deployment. Automation of our IT and Infrastructure provisioning. DevSecOps platform. Sécurities standards properly implémented.
