**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aida L. | DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

I really like the OpenShift Container Platform because it provides and means to me work out-of-box in security, image streams, but the UI also is excellent. We can easily monitor the pods, starting with the configuration for the number of pods that we want; it's easy to scale the number up or down the container resources based on their usage and consumption. It was nice to explore that Openshift has an excellent use for Deployment strategy and Certificate services.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Well, i don't have much to say about this because i really enjoy working and exploring this platform. Something i would add is related to the mechanism to kill pods, which maybe should have a feature more flexible, adding on some conditions like (CPU , Memory) .

**Recommendations to others considering Red Hat OpenShift:**

Highly recommend to use RedHat OpenShift Platform in your organisation

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From the perspective of developer teams is easier to deploy their their applications also for testing purposes, so they can spin up fast. It's self service based provisioning, and you can accelerate on integrating features like service-mesh and much more.

  ### 23. Application Development is fairly easy although you will need to read documentation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

It's fairly easy to use when it's well set up by the administrators. Documentation is very complete. Creation and management of volumes and persistent volumes. Pod log is fairly useful for debugging.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Secrets management need more user-friendly editing. Large amount of pipelines in the same project makes it hardly manageable. Pod log randomly skips entries.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Moving out from a decaying IaaS architecture allowing us to cut costs from overhead. Simplifying and reducing time of the deployment procedures and enhancing the development team work.

  ### 24. Red Hat OpenShfit Platform Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hariharan S. | Senior System Developer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

The best part of the RedHat OpenShift Platform is the UI which makes it easy even for a new person to use. Unlike other Container platforms, this UI feature is very helpful in managing the application.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

It is an on-premise solution which makes it difficult to put a lot of capital upfront for setting up the cluster, which makes it more expensive when compared to other cloud-based Kubernetes platforms. With the growing cloud trend, the organizations will keep looking for a more cost-effective platform instead of investing massive capital into OpenShift.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We managed our platform efficiently with OpenShift and were able to deploy applications with much ease. With the UI, we could solve any deployment-related issues much faster than other Kubernetes platforms, which has to be through CLI.

  ### 25. Best platform to host any application , best use case it to gain scalability over on prem infra

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Easy to scale and work on, Very interactive with UI. The security part has been designed very robust and easy to attach the same to ever any third-party tool.
Kubernetes service offering makes it superior in context to other service providers

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

The mechanism to kill pods should be more flexible like adding on some conditions like (CPU , memory, data ) . Some automation needs to be placed for pod monitoring and get it projected over UI

**Recommendations to others considering Red Hat OpenShift:**

If you would like to host any build tool in the shape of a container and there is a limitation to implementing cloud solution , please use this tool

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have on-prem Jenkins, and it was serving 100k user builds at any given time. Since its banking network, there is no cloud.
Openshift container platform use case:- we launched paralleled Jenkin instance over the platform in form of container to serve traffic, and it makes our project to achieve scalability .

  ### 26. running containerized workloads doesn't get any easier

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** shubham s. | Project Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

What I like best about OpenShift is in its simplicity. From installing a cluster to deploying your workloads, it is just so easy, and everything is so seamless, which is just not possible with kubernetes. With OpenShift, you get out-of-the-box monitoring and logging solutions like elk and Prometheus - grafana, which take away the overhead of you setting up monitoring and logging yourself. Once the installation completes, you don't have to worry about configuring networking. It's all taken care of by OpenShift. And since it also comes with Redhat support, getting answers to your questions or problems becomes very easy.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Since this is a subscription-based product, teams with a limited budget can have some challenges, and they have to go with Kubernetes. Other than that, I don't see a drawback of OpenhShift. You may have to be a little patient with RedHat cases someties, but thats it. Since I have experience with both platforms, OpenShift and Kubernetes and some with PCF as well, I can easily vouch and say that if budget is not and issue for you go with OpenhShift. It's the best Platform-as-as-Service right now in the market.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem I am solving now is to move some monoliths or legacy applications to a distributed architecture which would increase scalability significantly. With the applications we have already moved to OpenShift, we have noticed a significant increase in service availability. With autoscaling configured for our applications, we don't even have to look at the load on the application. We know that the service will scale with the requirement.

Another benefit we are enjoying is operators. Once you deploy an operator, you will notice how significantly it will reduce human intervention requirements in an application's lifecycle.

  ### 27. Perfect for orchestrating envrironments on the fly

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Santiago G. | Frontend Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

How easy is it to spin up a single machine or a whole development environment. Thanks to the catalog, the OC CLI, and the excellent documentation, working with OCP is a breeze.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

I don't dislike anything. My experience from a developer perspective has always been optimal.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a developer, I'm using the OCP mainly to spin up environments during the development phase, especially when integrated with tools like GitLab to prepare automated feature environments to test and demo every feature separately before merging to master.

  ### 28. OCP 4.6 Platform review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Friendly UI experience, easy to learn, explore and do the deployments of the application in multiple approaches. Quick troubleshooting experience, easy usage of the operators. Happy to use the platform overall.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

As of now not found any such downside, but in a few places, while using ingress service for path-based routing with TLS config there were hiccups due to limitations. Somewhere found less documentation about the NFS server implementation with the cluster in the AWS environment. Otherwise, it was all a good rich experience.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deploying the applications was very easy because of the better understanding and troubleshooting of the issues. More secured and well documented and it came as the right match to our needs.

  ### 29. In house container platform provided by RedHat

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vaibhav Z. | Consultant Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

I like the OpenShift UI, which we can use to monitor the PODS; it also provides a browser-based terminal. You can configure the number of pods that you want, and you can scale the number up or down based on your need. It's easy to use tool. Before to Openshift all the work down was manual and we had to do most of things manually. Whe we started using OpenShift most of the things like deployment and all was automated. It's a easy one time configuration that you need have.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

When you have several microservices, then creating an Image for each microservice is costly in OpenShift. We should have a single image that should be reusable to deploy multiple microservices. Maybe that's possible; it's yet to be implemented.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The most important feature that we are using automated deployment based on our need. It's easy to scale up or scale down the application pod. And in case your application is down due to some reason, OpenShift itself is capable of bringing up new instance.

  ### 30. Faster Innovation and Industry ready container orchestrations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yeswanth C. | Research Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Container systems help you deal with this challenge by enabling you to effectively provision, test, deploy, scale, and execute your containers across various hosts and operating systems, perform automatic health checks, and assure high availability in predicted workloads, and the Red Hat Openshift Container platform is one of the platforms who provides high efficiency and availability and that helps in accelerating the application development and resolves the container issues which speed up the deployment process. The way that the Red Hat Openshift Container platform handles the containers and clusters is the upside that I like the most.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

For this, only a single issue so far, That is people who potentially build the container earlier we need to give support to those, until we migrate and this is not a direct dislike with Red Hat Openshift Container Platform, But the issue with earlier builds in the organization that follows regular legacy methods.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problems that are solving with Red Hat Openshift Container are as follows:
Faster Deployment ready containers,
Easily manageable containers,
Reduce the complexity of the container management process in real-time
Common platform to use for all container management issues.

  ### 31. Easy to access the cloud env from the OCP console

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

I like OCP env much while working on my Pega app running in OCP. It gives the easy access to open each POD and the configuration maps. I like the auto scaling on a particular POD easily.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

The tool doesn't have a good UI while accessing the configuration from the console.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our application is hosted on the Openshift cloud environment and we are using the enterprise edition for this. As our app is small, we are good with all the given settings from the console.

  ### 32. Best Container management platform.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhishek D. | Cloud Implementation Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Red Hat OpenShift?**

The features I love are:
1. Deploying containers across various frameworks and language is very easy.
2. Easy to scale up and down the Container resources based on their usage and consumption.
3. Helps to track dependencies and reduces user efforts.
4. Easy to manage the container architecture, provisioning containers and performing health management checks all at a single click.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Only thing I dislike is the Product Support offered by the team. I hope that could be improved a bit.
Also, there is no proper way to manage and view the logs which heavily increases our load.

**Recommendations to others considering Red Hat OpenShift:**

I suggest to learn and implement OpenShift Container Platform if you are new to Containers as it is easy, robust and secure than other container orchestration platforms.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Mostly solving problems related to Deploying, managing and monitoring Containers.

All in one access and display dashboard. where we can easily monitor things. operatorhub kind of features are very unique

**What do you dislike about Red Hat OpenShift?**

Installation is not that easy if we try it out on a standard local VM for demo purposes.

**What problems is Red Hat OpenShift solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we have converted legacy-based applications to containerization and deployed them on OpenShift Container platform.
