"Rebelle Nails the Feeling of Real Painting with Realistic Brushes & Papers"

5/5

What do you like best about Rebelle?

Rebelle's digital tools mimic real-world painting better than any other digital painting software I've used. The UI is intuitive without a bunch of visual bloat. I love that the brush categories are represented visually as the tools themselves (a pencil for pencils, a pastel stick for the pastels, and ink nib pen for inks, etc.). The default art brush selection is also robust. They offer the ability to easily paint with different mediums without having to go search elsewhere for third-party brushes.

The base papers are incredible. They hand-make them, then scan them and their texture height maps. Your digital paint interacts with the actual digital paper fibers, making all your strokes feel more unique.

I've used Rebelle for years through multiple versions, and I've always felt like it's been worth the cost. I've been able to utilize it in a number of my professional projects and commissions.

It also allows you to work within smaller art files and export at larger dimensions for printing with their nano-pixel export capabilities. If you're a Photoshop user, there's also a plugin extension that allows an "export to Photoshop" connection.

Their version updates are always thoughtful and useful, I think in part because they really pay attention to community feedback and requests in their support forums. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

Something I find myself missing in Rebelle is the ability to turn on top and side rulers to help me easily add visual guides right where I want them. I prep print files that need bleed and margins, so I like to have a visual full-document ruler to quickly check those measurements. They have a ruler tool, which you can draw lines with and measure specific sections, but I'd love a static, full-document ruler I could toggle on and off, which I don't think is an option in my current version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rebelle solving and how is that benefiting you?

I paint traditionally (particularly with acrylics, watercolors, and inks), and the digital painting software options that I used before Rebelle never felt quite comparable to the real thing. When I first saw how Rebelle handled watercolor diffusion on the paper and the ability to control water amounts, it blew me away. It felt so much closer to real-life watercolors. For the oil and acrylic brushes, the ability to get visible, individual hair textures to show up in your digital brush strokes always feels like magic. Rebelle lets me capture real-life painting textures in the digital space like no other program I've used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The Best Natural-Feeling Drawing Program for Sketches, Textures, and Blending"

5/5

What do you like best about Rebelle?

As a lover of sketches, clean lines, and graphite pencils, I think this is the best program available today. What I love most are its papers, textures, and how everything feels when I’m drawing. I discovered it by chance in mid-2024 while looking for drawing software that felt natural, and it’s amazing how it has evolved—the sharpness provided by Nanoxipel technology, the way colors blend—all of these are major strengths of this program. I recommend it to anyone who loves traditional art; it feels really good to draw in this program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

The only thing is that it doesn't have multi-window support yet; I hope they'll be able to implement it someday. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rebelle solving and how is that benefiting you?

The banding issue was something I struggled with a lot in programs like Clip Studio Paint or Krita. In Rebelle, the strokes don't multiply when I lift the pen and draw again in the same area; instead, they build up naturally, just like in real life, which is a huge benefit for me. "Fantastic Brushes That Make Drawing Fun Again"

5/5

What do you like best about Rebelle?

Made drawing on my screen fun again. Fantastic brushes. Easy to transition to as a photoshop user. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

Zooming in on my track pad doesn't work well, but using the remote for my drawing tablet works perfectly. I just have to remember not to use the trackpad. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rebelle solving and how is that benefiting you?

I prefer to use traditional media when sketching or illustrating projects. Rebelle 8 pro allows me to play with different media on my digital screen. This saves me a lot of time and money on materials. I enjoy the process of allowing the paint to show me what it wants to do, and then working with it. Drawing using photoshop is very boring for me. This program brought the fun back into my work, while allowing me to quickly turn in projects and communicate with editors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Rebelle 7 Pro: Unmatched Realistic Natural Media in an Intuitive, Smooth Experience"

5/5

What do you like best about Rebelle?

I started using Rebelle 7 Pro because it offers an unmatched, realistic emulation of natural art media (watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, etc.), including believable interaction with the digital paper, canvas, or painting ground. The cost of owning it is very reasonable compared to other software that offers almost the same features.

It’s built in a very intuitive way for a traditional artist like me, so a steep learning curve is basically non-existent. I love the interface and the overall user experience it provides. The software runs smoothly and rarely bugs out.

I also like that I can easily export to PSD format if I ever want to do extra adjustments using Photoshop or Affinity Photo tools. That makes it highly compatible with most major image manipulation software. The integrated timelapse feature is great as well, and I love how the recording system works—specifically, that it only records the strokes. This makes it possible for me to leave recording on without worrying that a steady frame will record nothing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

The digital papers are actually expensive compared to the production cost of making these digital papers. I wish they increase more the number of colors from an image. The current maximum number of colors generated from image feels very limiting. I wish there is also a way to save workspace. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rebelle solving and how is that benefiting you?

I’m a traditional artist. Even though I’ve used Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Sketchbook, Corel Painter, ArtRage, and others, none of them really gave me that traditional feel when drawing or painting. Rebelle is the one that finally gave me the traditional experience I’d been looking for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Using Rebelle for traditional looking digital painting: an unmatched experience"

5/5

What do you like best about Rebelle?

Best software for traditional looking digital painting I´ve ever tried. Period Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

I haven´t noticed downsides to Rebelle so far, I was worried about the performance on extra large canvases but everything runs smooth. (Notice: my PC has a ryzen 9900x3d, 64 Gb ddr5 6000 mt/s, an RTX 4070 super and Rebelle is installed on a SSD M.2 Nvme drive, but i do encounter performance issues on other digital painting softwares like CSP or PS when using huge canvas/resolutions and demanding brushes at big sizes) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rebelle solving and how is that benefiting you?

I love making digital paintings or drawings that look traditional and I always find flaws on the way it works on other programs, Like PS bevel and emboss function on custom brushes with various overlay and under textures works decent, but i does still look digital, plus it is quite complicated and consists of a lot of trial and error, fine tunning, very heavy files and dealing with lag. Rebelle solves that achieving way better results with no time wasted and 0 lag issues Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Natural Art Feel, Needs UI and Feature Improvements"

3/5

What do you like best about Rebelle?

I like how Rebelle feels more natural compared to other apps, which makes the art process more intuitive for me. I also appreciate the color mixing feature because it stands out in enhancing my creative work. Setting it up was easy, which made it convenient to start working right away. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

I wish it had touch gestures built in if you're using it on a touch screen. Also, the canvas textures offered with purchase are limited and added ones are oddly expensive. Maybe just better UI options, adjustability for smaller screens. It's not bad, but could use work. I generally plan out my compositions on Procreate for its ease of use and simplified ability to manipulate and transform composition. I have tried using Rebelle's transform tools, they are very limited. Just better transforming tools like better transforming tools and liquify, touch gestures and UI options for tablets, as well as more canvas options included with Rebelle at purchase. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rebelle solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Rebelle because it feels more natural and is more intuitive compared to other apps, especially in color mixing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Digital Painting Mastery with Rebelle"

5/5

What do you like best about Rebelle?

I use Rebelle for my creative artwork and explaining to my students how oil and acrylic paint works. It solves a mess by allowing me to work digitally with my students, without having to worry about setup and cleanup time. It gives me the exact same effect as true-to-life oil paints. What stands out the most is how I can mix colors on screen, and it has a realistic vision of what the paints actually do. The initial setup was very simple, just like most software for Windows. Overall, it's that good of a program that I'd absolutely rate it a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 for recommending it to a friend or colleague. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

I would probably say photograph editing is probably the biggest weakness that Rebelle has. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rebelle solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rebelle solves the mess and smell of physical painting, allowing digital work with my students without setup and cleanup time, while providing a true-to-life oil paint effect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simulates Real Media with a Clean UI, Needs Lower RAM Usage"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Rebelle?

I like Rebelle for its ability to simulate real media, which is great for my work with concept art and aerospace. I really appreciate the clean UI, making my experience smoother. The interactive canvas and paper features are also a big plus for me. Additionally, the initial setup was extremely easy, which I found very convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

RAM usage is a bit high sometimes, leading to brush lag. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rebelle solving and how is that benefiting you?

Rebelle simulates real media which helps in my concept art and aerospace work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Huge jump from v3 to v8 - glad I did it."

4.5/5

What do you like best about Rebelle?

Huge changes from my Rebelle 3. The additional features really help this amateur learn more about what I'm doing but also make the job easier. Not that I have more time to play around and use the program it made sense to finally upgrade. I just wasn't using it enough to warrant the changes. But I'm very impressed with the upgrade and Christmas pricing. Ease of implementation really helped me and I'm hoping the ease of integration with my other work will pay off as I help my Son's church. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

No upgrade option from v3. That would have been nice but waiting and seeing today's Christmas sale, while not an upgrade price (big difference if I had a new version). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rebelle solving and how is that benefiting you?

A more professional look to what we're trying to accomplish and provide our viewers. I'm hoping the if needed customer support will be readily available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
