"The Best Charcoals I have ever used in a digital painting software"

What do you like best about Rebelle?

I had mostly worked on portraits in charcoals before trying out digital painting. I have used several digital painting software on my journey, but never found the excitement I used to get in traditional media. In my quest to get a tradigital feel to my work, I gathered many brush sets from various artists (both paid and free) but was never quite satisfied. But with Rebelle I can confidently say that I have found my ideal digital charcoals. The brush engine and software magic that Rebelle 7 does with charcoals right out of the box without even needing much tweaking, is liberating as an artist. No more fidgeting around with tens of brush packs; Rebelle has made painting easy and fun again for me. It has become my go-to software now as drawing and painting in it feels very familiar. "Magical watercolor simulation!"

What do you like best about Rebelle?

I have been a digital artist for 15+ years. I switched from using a Wacom setup with Clip Studio, Photoshop and Corel Painter in 2016 to an iPad and Procreate for illustration. However, because of Rebelle, I will now be moving back to a tablet setup. I love creating digital watercolors, but I found myself limited with Procreate. While it is an amazingly intuitive program for drawing, there are no truely "live" watercolor effects or happy accidents. Any realisim, texture, or whimsical blooms and effects must be carefully and painstakingly recreated with stamps, paper textures, and blending. When I discovered Rebelle it totally blew me away. The realistic paint mixing, effects, drips, and water simulation is so incredible. It's just like painting with real watercolors but with the convienence of digital. The interface is clean and logical. Tools are easy to find and I have been able to follow YouTube tutorials to understand the features. It's a complex program but not overwhelming. What do you dislike about Rebelle?

I would say that even more documentation/tutorials would be great. This program is robust and there is a lot to learn. The only other thing I could mention is a few feature requests.

1. I would love some "salted" effect brushes for the watercolor tools. Ones that produce very textured and spidery looks when applied to the wet paint. Right now, you can get some pretty good effects with the splatter tools, but they are more uniform and have less extreme diffusion of big, chunky salt.

2. When using the water tools, I find it challenging to see where the water is going to go. When turning on the wet canvas preview tool, it shows where all the wet parts are as a cyan colored overlay. However, the added water is also shown as a cyan color. I wish that it would show the water area in a different way, so I could better visualize where I'm adding it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Watercolours without having to clean up!"

What do you like best about Rebelle?

I really like the way the Rebelle has recreated the effects of water flowing on the paper in the digital realm. I have used Rebelle since Rebelle 3 and have been impressed by how I can understand the basic principles of how to create digital watercolours digitally from just applying the same theories as I would for real watercolours.

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

I think the one thing I disliked when I first started using Rebelle is actually one of its main selling points - the amount of features.

But I think as a new user (and being new to digital art creartion), I felt a bit overwhelmed by everything.

I would have liked a lot more guidance to help traditional artists transition to the realm of digital art, but as with a lot of things, experimenting can actually be more helpful in the learning experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

So far I have not had much that I dislike, I would say however, It would be more helpful if I could change the canvas color and paper textures more easily and not through the dialog box and having to click out of it to see the changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Rebelle solving and how is that benefiting you?

Hey everyone! So, I've been playing around with a bunch of digital art software lately, trying to find that perfect one. You know, the kind that really feels like you're painting or drawing for real. I've given everything a go - from the big names like Photoshop to some lesser-known ones. But, let me tell you, nothing has quite hit the mark like Rebelle 6.

Okay, so the first thing you've got to know about Rebelle 6 is how it handles brushes. It's like they've captured the essence of real paint on a digital canvas. The way the watercolors spread and blend on the screen - it's so soothing and just... real. I've spent hours with Photoshop, which is awesome in its own right, but for painting? Rebelle 6 is just something else.

Photoshop's great, don't get me wrong, especially for editing pictures. But when it comes to feeling like you're actually painting, it sometimes misses that organic touch. Other software I've tried were nice, but they always left me wanting more. Rebelle 6, though, is a whole different story. It's like the software understands how paint and paper work together. It's pretty amazing.

The watercolor brushes here are my absolute favorite. They flow and mix on your digital paper just like the real deal. And the oil paints have this rich, buttery texture that’s super satisfying to work with. Plus, the way the paper texture affects your painting is super neat.

Another thing I love about Rebelle 6 is how user-friendly it is. The layout is simple and clean, which is great whether you’re just starting out or you've been at this for a while. There’s a bunch of tools and settings, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming. It’s like having a cozy art studio right at your fingertips.

So yeah, Rebelle 6 has totally won me over. If you're into digital art and looking for something that feels real and natural, you've got to give it a try. "The natural feel of painting, not having to watch paint dry!"

What do you like best about Rebelle?

Rebelle is really amazing at making painting feel very close to what is to paint on an actual canvas. The products you use like the paint and the canvas have an amazing interaction. There is almost no latency, it has a steep learning curve and great tutorials out there. The different brush settings and being able to make your own brushes are amazing. Plus it is super easy to export a rebelle product to Photoshop - which helps me to make product designs etc. I am super duper excited about it and it inspired me to paint a LOT more again.

I've also contacted customer support (With a question about a sale), they've responded very fast and friendly!

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

The only downside of Rebelle that I found so far is that the fullscreen option doesn't work well on the size of my wacom tablet. Therefor some features are cut off; I just use it windowed and that works perfectly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Most realistic painting software I have ever used"

What do you like best about Rebelle?

Rebelle stands on its own, and excels in natural media moreso than I have ever seen in any other software. The watercolour emulation is unrivalled and spectacular. It blends watercolours realistically, and allows you to control tilt direction and strength - just as you do with real watercolour papers - shifting the paper to control blending. It even allows "blowing" on the paint and drips!! I feel like every other painting software I have tried has not had a connection to the original media and the techniques involved, but that is completely different with Rebelle. There are a number of great videos on YouTube to help you get up and running quickly with some of the features not found in other software, and plenty of other common paradigms taht will feel right at home when coming from any other graphics app.

Rebelle has very quickly become my favourite painting program - far exceeding my expectations, and vastly distancing from the others.

Support has been very prompt, and incredibly helpful with any questions.

The breadth of capabilities and control over watercolour, oils and other media is both simple and expansive in allowing you to intuitively tune your tools to get the painting results you want. I would HIGHLY highly recommend it. I've been trying painting apps for 20 years, and this has by far been the best. Excited to see what comes next in Rebelle. "Just like in real life"

What do you like best about Rebelle?

I have been drawing and painting since 1972, and doing CAD and CG since 1980. I have used many different graphics packages: Currently Blender, Procreate, and Affinity Designer/Photo. I have used all the Adobe products (stopped when they went subscription based). Everything from Corel/PC Paint to 3D Studio / Maya. For digital drawing/painting, Rebelle is easily the best that I have ever used. The simulated surfaces really act like the real thing. Watercolor tools are unbelievably accurate. I spend a lot of time silkscreening, so the stencil tool is much better than having to create actual screens and far more flexible.

A long time ago I worked in an Art Supply store. With Rebelle, it feels like I have a giant art supply store inside my Mac, and all the supplies are free and everything is always in stock. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Rebelle?

No printing functionality, but I imagine that could be tough to do given the accuracy of the surfaces. An iOS version would be nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
