Every code file, document, check-in documents etc. that made the CRM application of my project, was stored and managed through Clear Case (CC). Every time we changed any component in the application, we had to check-in this new component in CC. It kept a proper hierarchical track of the different versions of files checked in. It makes it very simple to keep a track different versions of the files. Also, we could access any file version to view what changes were made in it.

The best features it offers is that, before we check in anything we can compare the old file and the new one we are adding. It shows us the old and new version side by side so that we can compare the changes we made. Also, once checked in, it allows us to undo the check-in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

If a particular folder has a lot of components in it, it takes a very long time to load everything. Until everything is loaded, you cannot do any task on the components.

Our team uses ClearTeam Explorer for source control. I like the way we can compare different versions of a code file side by side within this application. But otherwise, I feel this is outdated and there are many other better version control systems out there like GIT SourceTree which is more user-friendly Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Clumsy UI

Very slow. Especially if used intermittently with some idle time in between, it takes a lot of time to respond.

Needs the user to check out the file before editing it, rather than automatically detecting the modified files. If a user modifies a file without checking it out, the file gets hijacked.

A lot of time is wasted to wait for the connection, check out the files and check-in them again. I like the way how it works in SourceTree. Users change the code, SourceTree would detect all the modified files and then commit the changes.

Poor documentation.

The application keeps throwing errors without much information about what is causing the error.
