"Raspbian"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Raspbian?

Raspbian is the linux based operating system for Raspberry PI.

There are many good things about this OS that I love:

1)Since Raspbian provides users with the LXDE desktop environment, it supports many applications that are available on a desktop.

2)Since its a linux based operating system, it follows the same commands in the terminal as is followed by any other linux based operating system out there(such as ubuntu). This helps the users since they do not have to memorize(or make a note of) different commands for Raspbian. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Raspbian?

One of the things that I dislike the most about Raspbian is that with every new version of Raspbian they release, the dependencies of existing applications and packages are changed. This makes it very hard for beginners to get things working properly in the new version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best Debian/Linux distribution for our little Pi."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Raspbian?

Raspbian comes with more than 35,000 packages or precompiled programs packaged in a nice format for easy application on a Raspberry Pi. It includes office-like applications, a web browser, and tools so you can start with the main programming languages, the Raspberry Pi is designed to help you learn. The distribution is still actively developed with an emphasis on improving the stability and performance of as many Debian packages as possible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Raspbian?

Although Debian produces a distribution for the ARM architecture, it is only compatible with later versions than the one used in Raspberry Pi (ARM v7-A CPU and higher vs the ARM v6 of Raspberry Pi). Raspbian perhaps, and therefore, Debian, are far from making the average user take the plunge when it comes to switching to Linux and abandoning their old operating systems due to the complexity in its installation and administration without prior knowledge. "Nice port of debian to raspberry pi"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Raspbian?

Its a very good software and its well developed, as is based on debian you have tons and tons of support channels and people happy to help you. Its very well optimizated and its one of the best OS for RPI3 to make sort of projects.

If you need a OS that is based on debian and high performance for RPI3 this is the choice to go! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Raspbian?

I only dislike one thing, the OS gets little bit stuck in some operations like apt install and upgrade but its normal due to RPI3 low specs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great linux distro built perfectly for the raspberry pi"
5/5
What do you like best about Raspbian?

Raspbian makes it easy for me to customize and build our pis. I can easily swap configurations throughout all of our Pis and be certain it will work every time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Raspbian?

It can sometimes be difficult to troubleshoot problems. I probably am not experienced enough to say that, but since it's built for a ARM processor and the raspberry pi, some less common tasks (connecting to a MS SQL Server via a odbc) can be harder to accomplish. That task specifically took me a couple days to solve, but it was able to do it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Good fork of Debian for low performance computers."
4/5
What do you like best about Raspbian?

Raspbian it's a very small size operative system focused in use in Raspberry Pi's or very small and simple PC's. The best of Raspbian, is that spends very few resources, so you can run it in a low performance computer like a raspberry. Another interesting thing, is that works like with the basis of Debian, that means that there are kernels available and some of the packages are also available, some others you needs to recompile, but in general it's easy Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Raspbian?

Raspbian works with ARM computers, that means that some of the packages compiled in x86 architecture will not be compatible with Raspbian until them are recompiled. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best tool for sensor R&D"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Raspbian?

I love the fact that Raspbian can be deployed rapidly on small single board computers like the Raspberry Pi. This low cost platform is used all the time in our R&D efforts to design low cost rapidly deployable sensors. It also allows us to equip our student researchers with their own development platform instead of a single multiuser server. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Raspbian?

Some of the proprietary ARM based libraries are difficult to work with. It is not a major inconvenience but is something to consider. ARM compatibility is the largest negative issue when working with Raspbian. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast and simple OS"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Raspbian?

Easy to install. Runs on Raspberry Pi and have all you need on board with GUI! Browser, text editor and so on. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Raspbian?

It is based on linux, but with ARM architecture. So you can't just install any linux app. And this is a problem. There is no a lot of apps on it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Debian port made good"
5/5
What do you like best about Raspbian?

The minimal image. The support you have from the community. The access to the GPIO. The raspberry Pi team makes this product very easy to buy and easy to deploy. The software included for children to learn programming is a good point for those who use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Raspbian?

That the repositories are only in the UK. If they fail, we have no updates! Meanwhile, Debian repositories can be found all around the world. The accessories also are a bit expensive. Maybe because it is all UK-centered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
