Because of the high cost of corporate licensing and pricing, Ranorex experience is sometimes undervalued by companies that prefer to promote other test automation frameworks, such as the familiar Selenium. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ranorex provides one of the best automation tools for recording and playback WPF C# desk top application. Its advantage is its ability to add code, in C#, where other automation tool gets stuck. That was the reason why I chose Ranorex to be our core automation development tool. Ranorex user code still use C# 4.8 while we develop on C# 11. From time to time, we see that the "Ranorex Spy" loses an element Xpath and it must be recognized again. Ranorex must find a way to add AI abilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ranorex Studio is very clearly structured and easy to use. The studio can be used for various tasks. I find Ranorex Spy particularly helpful as it makes finding important properties easier. We have been using Ranorex for several years for a desktop application written in Java and have mostly had good experiences. Particularly noteworthy is the ability to integrate custom user code in C#. This allows practically all requirements to be implemented, making Ranorex extremely versatile. The integration with our SQL database also works smoothly. Test data can be easily integrated and used. The modular structure allows for the reuse of code and recording modules, and test cases as well as test suites can be well constructed and comfortably linked with the test data from the database through data binding.

The reporting is overall very clear and provides the relevant information in a well-prepared form. Also very helpful is the Ranorex Spy, which allows UI elements to be reliably identified. There are only a few points that are disruptive in everyday life. The Ranorex Spy occasionally shows instabilities and can, in rare cases, even cause Ranorex to crash. This problem can be mitigated by clicking save in Ranorex Studio before using the Spy, so no data is lost. However, it is still somewhat annoying.

Another minor weakness concerns reporting: For very long test cases that last an hour or more, the PDF generation of the report no longer works reliably. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We have transferred our entire UI-side test automation to Ranorex. Ranorex offered more possibilities to build the test automation. The structuring options are also very good. Initially, there were several hurdles, especially with the infrastructural integration into virtual machines. However, it eventually worked out, and the support there was helpful and punctual. When switching from another automation tool, the quite affordable price is noticeable. Getting familiar with it is quite intuitive. The support has been perfect and very helpful so far. The fact that Ranorex is only available in English was initially disappointing. Small font. Lack of options to change default settings. Not reliably usable in combination with some open programs (MS-Teams). For mobile tests, the application must be uninstalled from the device and installed with an installation file. Ranorex is easy to use and supports desktop, web and mobile applications. We were looking to upgrade our desktop application, and our existing automation tool won't support the windows components. You can automate pretty much anything using the tool if you have some C# experience.

If you don't have much C# experience then you can use the out of box features to automate quite a bit.

The development environment in Ranorex Studio is fexible enough for any team to set up their own bespoke automation framework.
