The task and workflow tracking is much easier in the new version. **What do you dislike about Rally Software?** The new UI is not user friendly and requires more action to reach the desired function. The reports can be improved a lot to help management review of the resource deployment. **What problems is Rally Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** Used in development tracking when using agile process and easily keeps track of daily progress. The reports help in keeping track of the progress and helps evaluate individuals activity. ### 2. This has aided in the acceptance of the product in our development and business teams. Besides using it for managing our Agile teams performance we use it for managing the project approval process and our project portfolio. Most teams, over time, have gravitated to using Kanban boards their standup meetings for a quick view of their progress. A Rally User Story hierarchy application is also useful for overall progress and being able to drill down to individual stories and tasks. **What do you dislike about Rally Software?** Rally's customer service has dropped somewhat as they have created a community portal to solve problems or request support. The portal isn't intuitive for many colleagues and as subscription administrator I get a lot of requests for help. However once to do request support from Rally it is very good. **Recommendations to others considering Rally Software:** Rally uses a monthly license model. There is no concept of a viewer license. It is a full license or nothing. **What problems is Rally Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before we selected an ALM tool we had different groups managing their projects with a verity of tools. Trying to roll up project information to get a enterprise view was essentially impossible. Managing IT and business projects in one tool has given us the visibility we needed for resource and capacity planning. We has realized not only a 7% increase in project throughput but almost 70% of our projects are completed on time because of the increased visibility. ### 4. I am not a great fan of their new UI with the iteration and find myself keep going back to the old version. For instance filtering option on the Iteration page where it used to be one click now needs 2 or 3 and also some filtering options are no longer available. **Recommendations to others considering Rally Software:** As an admin, setup a test account where new users could play around and learn the software without worrying about messing things up. As an admin provide a quick overview of the modules of the software to ease the introduction to the software which allows user to get a head start. As a user view as many of the training lessons and videos available. For Rally, I think it would be nice if there were a curriculum that user could follow and be sure that s/he has covered all related topics. For Rally, sample of various queries that user can add to their custom views, in particular where there master/child record data such as searching change logs. **What problems is Rally Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Rally to manage all aspects of software development cycle. After becoming familiar with concept of Agile development you can use this software well. We could benefit from additional reporting options or ways to export data from other views. ### 5. Tracks and gives it's users a visual representation to what is happening in your Agile Projects/Releases if you are using Scrum or Kanban. Without any custom coding you have access to all of the data and charts needed to improve your teams performance (Sprint Charts, Release Charts, Story Charts, and many more caned reports). It also offers a robust notification system say if a Story is ready to be accepted the PO can be automatically emailed. They go a step further to providing custom reporting by way of 1) IF-ELSE conditional and 2) reports done with JavaScript that can do just about anything you want. Between all of that, their Administration system and their recent inclusion of Insight and Flowdock tools it is a highly functional tool for both the beginner and advanced Agile Team and Agile Organization. **What do you dislike about Rally Software?** While the Community Edition for beginners is easy to set up and use the nature of any top notch highly robust software that solves complicated problems can have a steep learning curve. You really learn Rally in steps. Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced and even beyond that. For instance you need to a very adept developer who has a good handle on Agile Development, how it is represented in the Rally Tool and have great software skills to code the right JavaScript if you want great custom reports, If you are a fairly large organization you may need to dedicate one person to being the admin for your system (closing projects, adding people, removing people, being a liaison with Rally, etc.) I don't necessarily think these are negatives as much as outflows of a robust system. **What problems is Rally Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** Successful Agile software projects in many different industries (travel, telecommunications and medical). Rally has helped track and respond to empirical data trends and enable better decision making based on what is happening "on the ground". ### 6. Gives you lots of options to change the what you see and how you see it, way beyond the other tools I've used. **What do you dislike about Rally Software?** The biggest thing it's missing is an important one in my mind and that's the ability to tag a person in a specific ticket. In other words, I'd like to be able to use "@johnsmith" and have it notify that person via email (or within the system) that there is something that needs their attention. Right now there is no way to do that and it makes it very challenging to know when there is something that needs your attention unless you are constantly monitoring the sprint boards. It's something that exists on other platforms that I've found really lacking here and it's a tough one to manage. **What problems is Rally Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** We needed a development tracking tool that gives us the ability to monitor our weekly development progress and be able to easily report on how we've done over time. In that sense, this tool has hit the mark. ### 7. I've done QA and UAT testing at a few companies, and I've liked Rally software the best. **Recommendations to others considering Rally Software:** It is very easy to use and understand. It is the best software I have used so far for test cases and issue tracking. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in my field, and I even recommended it at my current company. **What problems is Rally Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were using the Rally software for test case / task organization and issue tracking while testing the HR software that our company produced. ### 8. Also the fact we can have our customized views. **What do you dislike about Rally Software?** The new version of Rally does not show the 'Notes' section in Portfolio Items as before. I heavily used it to indicate the status such as TBD items indicating feedback is being awaited from Business user using 5 words at max. I also do not like the new version's display for features, stories, etc as it is too spreadout. **What problems is Rally Software solving and how is that benefiting you?** My team has multiple product owners as a result prioritization is a bit tricky process and also maintaining a record of follow-up items, the requirements gathered until the latest meeting were all managed and consolidated using Rally. The business users also could view their requirements' priority in comparison to other requirements and get a view of the workload handled by the team and thus estimate a rough timeline for delivery of the requirements. ### 9. Easy to use, set up, and share with colleagues. **What do you dislike about Rally Software?** Not super flexible beyond its specific purpose. Cannot move tasks between boards. Feels very much like a startup with a piece of software that is still in its early stages. Does not live update if multiple people are looking at the same board. **Recommendations to others considering Rally Software:** We changed out process flow categories to when we will work on tasks (i.e. Next Week, This Week, Today). Try mixing up the application a bit and creating a custom layout that works for you. ### 13.
