Customer Support is TERRIBLE.

No work around for work order tracking (previously used sales orders in desktop, not a workable option in online).

Things that were user-friendly in desktop (like chart of accounts & bank ledgers, for ex. are a giant PITA)

You cannot backup your data (without a 3rd party app) and "exporting" is so limited you will lose everything if there's an issue.

Again, cannot be overstated just how bad their support is.

Migrating from desktop took over 3 weeks to correct issues and the advice from reps would've horribly screwed up PL/balance sheet so be prepared to figure it out yourself or pay for their accountant service.

Sidenote, I also work in QB online for a non-profit (in addition to my for-profit day job) - their 'non-profit accounting' is just the for profit software with different labels slapped onto reports, there is NO fund accounting capability.

Lastly, their support is terrible, do NOT trust their advice, it is often bad. If you don't understand your books get a second opinion before doing anything they recommend to solve an issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like using QuickBooks Online for making dashboards for my CFO, particularly because I can use its API to get the needed data for data analysis. I appreciate the playground sandbox feature which shows the get URL and the response, allowing me to cross-check information with QuickBooks Online. I also enjoy how easy it is to navigate to the financial statements and the ability to make a favorite by pressing a star. The initial setup was quite easy too. They don't show the EBITDA, they don't have it anywhere so it would be nice if we could get it calculated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's ability to integrate with other systems like my bank, payroll software and even my cloud-based project management software. These integrations cut my manual work out by about 75%! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I dislike most is its inability to open two or more different company accounts at the same time. This causes inconvenience when trying to post intercompany journals and doing reconciliations between them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

For me, it's the fact that its in the cloud. I can be anywhere, and access it either by browser or by app. The bank integrations also help make my job a lot easier as it brings in my feeds. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is still not able to do the job of Quickbooks Enterprise Desktop. This causes a lot of issues with difficult clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the Quickbooks Online payment enablement and automation (this is however for US-Based Companies only unfortunately). I also like how they consolidated their menus recently to enable faster/easier menu access Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

API access is very restricted and it is one of the most difiicult APIs I have worked with. Transaction classification in the bank transactions module is not so smart even after AI was implemented. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I also find the updates sometimes come on too often. I appreciate improvements and understand that changes can and should happen, but the learning curve to adapt to a new look or features can get tiring when it keeps happening. More efficient editing would be nice, like being able to apply changes to multiple estimates at once instead of one by one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that QuickBooks Online allows us to easily download bank account and credit card information to share with our accountant and keep track of our bookkeeper's progress online. I love its cloud-based nature, which makes it accessible by many people without needing a VPN, and it limits server and location limitations while protecting information better. I like that QuickBooks Online is accessible on the go, providing the flexibility I need. I find QuickBooks Online to be a great tool for our small business. It manages our financial statements, reporting, and reconciliations simply and efficiently.
