What do you like best?

I like that QuickBooks offers an app version of the software as well as other apps that work with the software to provide benefits that QBO itself cannot provide. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I don't like the report feature. I like the desktop version better where you can have different tabs open at the same time. In QBO you have to keep opening the report and customizing it to what you want. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Use this for a small business that doesn't need an accounting software for major or traditional things that QuickBooks Desktop offers. However, QBO does offer things such as automatic sales receipts, split transactions, scheduled invoices, and location and class categories that are not offered in the desktop version and are helpful for some types of businesses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Clients have been able to import their bank feeds and easily reconcile their bank accounts which is very helpful. Clients have also realized that QBO is somewhat simpler to navigate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Very user-friendly - you can figure out how to put an entry in or how to put an invoice in on your own in 5 mins. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There are not many internal controls that could be set up around approving the entry and changing the previous year's data. Only minimal accounting functions are provided - not comprehensive enough for a larger sized company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Yes, definitely. Especially for a small business or start-up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It is good enough for our small business. Affordable and user-friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Completing tax returns for me was one of the main advantages of using Quickbooks. I love all the integration features & we implement some of the main API functionality to run automation across the business. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I find that it has a bit of a steep-ish learning curve which for someone who doesn't have much time to learn on the job, i had to take some of the online courses to get fully up to speed. I have also found that implementing workflows using the API is not as straightforward for the development team as we had hoped. It's quite restrictive in certain places. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

The API is fairly comprehensive but needs work. The learning curve isn't as simple as you would expect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Handling tax returns, implementing administrative automation & digitally transforming certain aspects of our company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Intuit's gigantic resource base and overall scale, combined with this product's ease of use, makes it, undeniably, the dominant player in the market that every accountant or bookkeeper needs in his or her tool belt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Intuit's dominant presence, as mentioned above, comes with a few unfortunate downsides, however. Most notably, the price of QuickBooks Online continually increases, even though it already is the highest-priced option (by far). Also, customer support can sometimes be lacking and the company's overall consideration of the customer is not what is used to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Great product with lots of resources and functionality; however, there are other emerging options in the industry that should be considered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Intuit's QBO is a highly accessible and is know and/or used by nearly everyone. Our firm has realized many benefits in this regard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

QuickBooks Online is a great tool for a small business owner that doesn't have a strong accounting background. The online version gives the flexibility to link accountants into the software to provide support without them having to be on site to have access. QuickBooks is designed to help the small business owner manage their finances and tries to be helpful Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

As an accountant, QuickBooks is severely lacking in it's reporting flexibility as a company grows. Currently our CEO wants to see reports that I can't get out of QuickBooks, so I have to export the information and then do a lot of manual manipulation. The way it tries to be helpful can sometimes hinder me in what I'm trying to accomplish. The separation of access levels is weak Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Good tool for a small business getting off the ground or with minimal reporting needs. Helps organization of finances in a clear to use way. Not ideal for a growing company that has more complex or demanding reporting needs, or for accountants who are looking for more options within a system Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Easy tool to use with a lot of training options and access to a wide array of bookkeepers and accountants who are familiar with the product Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Intuit stays on the forefront of technology and QBO allows you to creatively use the improvements we've seen in the tech field over the last 10 years where other accounting software just can't. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The intuitive workflow does NOT work for traditional accountants or anyone who has been successful using Quickbooks Desktop in the past. It is far to easy for me (not to mention my clients) to get caught in a repetitive loop of issues when it comes to bank reconciliations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you've never used Quickbooks, definitely give this platform a chance... it makes accounting for everything in a small business fairly simple. If you are a long time user of Quickbooks Desktop, don't start down this road thinking that Quickbooks Online "can't be all that different" or even comparing the two systems against one another. QBO is headed in the right direction, and once you have everything set up properly it can definitely streamline all of the major accounting processes. If you expect it to act the same way Quickbooks Desktop does, you will be highly frustrated and disappointed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The syncing of invoices, bank feeds, and other content through the cloud based platform has been the greatest thing for our office. Some of these options are available on QB Desktop, however QB Online is a system that was created for this type of platform instead of one that is just "making it work". That means that things just work with a little less effort. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Ability to quickly access and share up-to-date financial information without remote logins, backup files, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The speed and comparative lack of functionality compared to the desktop version of Quickbooks as well as no ability to have multiple report windows open. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Depending on the circumstances, it can be a very useful program - I find it best for simpler bookkeeping work and users who will not be heavily going from one report to another. The feature to link to bank accounts can be very helpful and timesaving for those who may not be the best at individually entering transactions without being prompted. For extensive users with a high number of transactions, it can be cumbersome, slow and at times limiting in terms of capabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We have been able to work better with clients to help solve bookkeeping and accounting questions based on real-time information rather than relying on historical data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Particularly while updating bank statements in QBO, we just need to upload the standard format Excel file to QBO and QBO itself categorize the transaction by checking from previous transaction and you can also set a rule for instance, there is an expense of bank charges, and you always charge 20% Vat on purchases, so you can save that rule, ultimately in future system will not ask you about how to record Bank charges Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Well, as discussed above, when we upload bank statement in Excel format to QBO, some of the transaction are misinterpreted by QBO, for instance there is a particular expense while QBO reads it as Uncategorized Income. So we can to check every single transaction to check that it has been classified correctly Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Very easy and convenient to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

My Bank, AP and AR reconciliations are very much easier now, and I can generate certain reports in QBO which helps me a lot in decision making Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I love the fact that I can take my quickbooks online anywhere and bill clients on the go. I can use my phone , surface, or laptop to send estimates or invoices in the field. All transactions sync instantly so while i am on the road my secretary can take payments and all is good. The set up is fairly simple, and the ability to add services and products is perfect for my computer retail store and should work good for most retail service locations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The price is high per month, and quickbooks has increased once on me in the past year with no noticeable changes in the software. The option to export your data data file completly can only be done by calling in and using the old internet explorer. Support is almost nonexistent. It is terrible the reps keep you on hold for long periods of time if they answer at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

There are several programs out there that do what Quickbooks does. If you get tied down to Quickbooks it is hard to leave. Weigh your options before deciding on this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

If done correctly you can eliminate having an accountant when using this software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I like having a resource to access all of my clients' financial records. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

QuickBooks feels a bit messy to me; I'm not financially savvy, and as someone who is required to use this program for work, I often feel lost. Many of the (admittedly good) features that QuickBooks has seem to be hidden and inaccessible unless I know exactly how to do something.

The way the statements and invoices print are often confusing; I wish they were a bit more comprehensive so my clients knew more details about what they were paying for with each invoice, the due date, and where any overdue charges are coming from. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

If you are familiar with this program, I'm sure it's a good way to go! If you are new to this aspect of a business, my best advice is to have someone who is familiar show you around a bit! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

QBO is a good entry level accounting software. Good for "Service" businesses only who do not need much detail tracking of information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I would not recommend it for an inventory heavy business. QBO does not handle inventory well at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

I like that I can search for any of our customers or inventory and the program will generate results without the search being to specific. This makes looking for an invoice quick and easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

I do not like how I have to complete so many recaptcha challenges. I don't have time while I'm pulling up a customer file to click on all the pictures with a street sign in them. It is beyond irritating. I understand the safety feature but there should be something simpler, like a secondary password. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Quickbooks Online can be a great tool for you and your business. However be careful when entering data, there is no simple way of deleting incorrect fields. And be wary of where your mouse hovers because quickbooks loves to auto fill for you, and usually with the wrong information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

What do you like best?

Quickbooks online has been making some improvements over the past couple of years. I like its cloud-based infrastructure that we can share with our accountants.

I like that I can use 3rd party apps to upload records. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There is significant latency with the interface, so you have to be very patient while things load.

While the interface is pretty, I can't decide whether it is unnecessarily complicated, or unnecessarily dumbed down... all I know is that using the software adds to my overall levels of stress and frustration.

Sometimes, lists of customers or vendors get hidden, so you can't click from customer to customer or vendor to vendor; rather you need to reload the Customer's home tab... there are lots of places like this where you need to click three places to accomplish something that could easily be done with a single click. Want to views the customer on the invoice you're viewing? Remember their name, then cancel out of the Invoice, then open up the customers tab, and then search for her or him. Preposterous.

I get the sense that Intuit thinks its customers are stupid, so they provide lots of skewomorphic page effects that are completely unnecessary. Open an invoice, and (after 5-15 seconds of loading) it slides in, like a piece of paper, over what you were viewing. I'd rather be able to click intuitively through the system and have the interface open quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The basic QB Online doesn't even include any memorized transactions. This is so frustrating. Also the UI is not nearly as easy to navigate as the software version. I'm considering cancelling my QBO account and going back to the software version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
