Frustrating Transition from Desktop to Online **Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Reyna K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2026 **What do you like best about QuickBooks Online Advanced?** NOTHING, Ipreferred the desktop version more. **What do you dislike about QuickBooks Online Advanced?** I personally don't like QuickBooks Online Advanced. I wish I never went over to QuickBooks Online Advanced. If I could somehow go back to the desktop version without too much hassle, I would do it in a heartbeat. I don't value any of the QuickBooks Online Advanced features because the desktop has way more features. The desktop allowed me to do much more personalization and put things in categories that made sense to me. Once porting over to the Online Advanced version, it took away a lot of the individual things that I needed it to do, and it put things in ridiculous categories. I don't believe that the online advanced deserves the name advanced. It needs to go back to everything that the desktop version has in order to be advanced. If you're moving somebody from the desktop version to the online version, then you need to move them over with all the same features. And if you're not moving them over with the same features, you need to move them over with better features, not take them away. The initial setup was a huge pain, and the porting was done incredibly poorly by the QuickBooks team, and I lost multiple files. The payroll was done incredibly bad, and to this day, we still don't have everything. **What problems is QuickBooks Online Advanced solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use QuickBooks Online Advanced to keep track of our inventory, monitor vehicle and trailer repairs, customize invoices with DOT numbers, and bill our customers. These are the SAME things I used QuickBooks Desktop for also. ### 2. When my QB Payroll transferred incorrectly from Desktop to Online on April 1, 2025, it still hasn’t been corrected. I had to file an extension for both my business and personal taxes because they still have not corrected the W-2. **What problems is QuickBooks Online Advanced solving and how is that benefiting you?** The most important problem has been solving my payroll transfer. It is still not fixed so I am getting no benefit. ### 3. The initial setup of QuickBooks Online Advanced was easy. **What do you dislike about QuickBooks Online Advanced?** I actually have a lot of issues with QuickBooks Online Advanced. The sales tax function isn't working well for me. The reports aren't accurate, specifically the taxable and non-taxable data is incorrect. Also, it could be more user-friendly. **What problems is QuickBooks Online Advanced solving and how is that benefiting you?** I actually have a lot of issues with QuickBooks Online Advanced. ### 4. The integration with our management system is nothing but a nightmare **What problems is QuickBooks Online Advanced solving and how is that benefiting you?** None ### 5. There are lots of options for customizing the chart of accounts. Reporting is responsive. **What do you dislike about QuickBooks Online Advanced?** My problem is more to do with Intuit than the software itself. They seem more intent on packing all the marketing into the app than actually improving controls and interoperability. There are significant price increases each year with very little to show in regard to process improvement and basic accounting controls. If you decide to leave them, good luck finding a way to easily retain your data. **What problems is QuickBooks Online Advanced solving and how is that benefiting you?** Basic small business financial record keeping. ### 6. Most unprofessional company I have ever worked with!! **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Jason T. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2022 **What do you like best about QuickBooks Online Advanced?** Their platform is easy to learn how to use. **What do you dislike about QuickBooks Online Advanced?** Their customer service is entirely lacking and unprofessional, they tell you they will email and supervisors will call you to help you but they do not. **What problems is QuickBooks Online Advanced solving and how is that benefiting you?** Quickbooks is the most unprofessional business I have ever worked with; their lack of customer service and communication is unparalleled. They claim to care about their customers and want them never to feel taken advantage of, however when they decide to "hold and review" a small business' deposits for services already completed they are allowed to hold it for 270 days or make you return it to the vendor while charging you a 3.4%+.25 fee for doing the transaction at their discretion. On 12/16, we had three invoices paid by a customer and quick books decided since the amount was a large one they needed to hold if for review, I understand that banks will hold a large deposit for a couple of days to a week if it is a large amount until it clears, however this was not the case they asked for us to provide 6 months of bank statements, a contract signed by our customer, the customers billing information, signed invoices, and a questionnaire answered, just to get the deposit that the had already charged us 3 percent to hold in their account. We called many times and tried to chat with an expert also to be told over and over the same thing, we just wanted the transaction reversed so our customer could send us an ACH payment, but we were told they needed to review this further. Skip ahead 2 weeks we had agreed to just have funds deposited because we were told they couldn't reverse the transaction and agreed to pay the initial 3% fee if they would deposit, and they decide to tell us they are uncomfortable funding this transaction and they would not give a reason even though we have been doing business with them for over 2 years and our customer is completely legitimate. They said our only option was to refund the customers money through our merchant account and that it would cost us another 6800 dollars to do so, but they may waive that fee for us since they were making us return it, but it was not guaranteed. However they would not return the original 6000 dollar transaction fee that had to stay on our account???? So in essence, what they did was take an interest-free loan with our 200,00 dollars and hold it in their account for three weeks and charge us almost 6000 dollars to do so. We followed their directions to return the funds and now that transaction is on hold for review in our account, our customer cannot pay us until they see that money in their account but we have completed these jobs over a month ago and who knows when we will get our money paid to us. We were told the case was being escalated to supervisors multiple times and we received no communication on this, we were promised email updates and never heard anything. We had to spend hours every day for weeks on the phone and online chat to try to get answers from these people and ended up no better than when we started, when we finally did get a hold of a supervisor, he said things like this happen all the time and their company is a joke that does not care about their customers and it is completely unfair, but they don't have the power to help with anything either.
