QuickBase makes it Quick and Simple to Provide Users with Tools to Improve Their Effectiveness **Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Mark L. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2023 **What do you like best about Quickbase?** It's simple to build new fields, reports, dashboards, and forms that allow users to keep track of their projects and help ensure proper users have access to only what's relevant to them. **What do you dislike about Quickbase?** The relatively recent inability to utilize JavaScript within formula URL buttons for a more guided experience was a significant setback for us since you are now required to build custom code pages to handle the same process. **What problems is Quickbase solving and how is that benefiting you?** It allows us to have all pertinent projects easily accessible to each respective group, avoiding the need to have a single Excel spreadsheet to attempt to track and monitor upcoming and completed projects. We previously had a MOAS (mother of all spreadsheets) that relied on people checking it in and out, which proved to be an issue between the multiple shifts. It was not uncommon to have the file locked because someone from the dayshift forgot to close it before leaving for the day, causing all nightshift employees to be locked out. The ability to manage and organize data in a centralized platform has significantly improved my team's workflow. I have personally learned Quickbase by myself and created several applications that are currently used by the memebers of my team on a daily basis. Since the transition from legacy forms, I especially like its user-friendly and highly customizable new forms as they are a lot more appealing. I also loke the fact that Quickbase excels in providing a quick deployment process. Setting up databases and applications is straightforward whitout any headacke. I have successfuly integrated my quickbase apps with other quickbase apps through relationships. I haven't contacted customer support as I never had to, but there are plenty of resources online on the forms and the QB acadamy provides pretty much all the required information. **What do you dislike about Quickbase?** While Quickbase offers impressive customization options for forms, I've found the platform to have limitations when it comes to formatting. There's many different features scattered all over the product, often with overlapping functionality. If one is a new user, or inheriting an existing app, it can be challenging to get your head around everything that's going on inside a Quickbase app. They've made some strides in this area recently, but there's still a lot of work to do. In the past five years Quickbase has acquired and built in an automation and integration tool called "Pipelines". Pipelines is unreliable, difficult to build in, and slow. The management of pipelines operates on an entirely different model than the rest of Quickbase. **What problems is Quickbase solving and how is that benefiting you?** My team uses Quickbase to track many things, including time entry, out of office, professional development, client projects. I had no prior programming experience when we started using Quickbase yet I was able to teach myself how to build out what we needed. I have always been able to find help online if I get stuck on something or need help with a complex formula field. **What do you dislike about Quickbase?** If you don't know what you're doing you could easily do something that will "break" your app. For that reason we don't give back end access to our users. The best part is the fact that if you can think of how you want a report, you can probably create it! Any questions I did have on how to make something work is easily searched or I could reach out to customer support and get help easily. We use this program every day with multiple users and have never had an issue. The initial set up was extremely easy, espicially using a template. It is now part of our every-day function and a key component of our operations. **What do you dislike about Quickbase?** Wasn't able to create custom work schedules to create shop schedule (ie: four 10 hour shifts vs. five 8 hour days). It is very intuitive to use, if a simple application needs to be built, but it also has the capabilities of being more advanced, based on the complexity of the use case. I needed to build a slightly advanced relationship in an app, between two tables, and the customer support I received was stellar in helping me implement the final product. **What do you dislike about Quickbase?** Some of the pages/functions are still a little bit outdated in term sof both aesthetic appeal and user interfaces. I would like a better integration with Outlook, so that our team could enter contacts and emails into our quickbase database while working inside Outlook. Licensing is simple, 3 tiers of pricing. You know what is included and what not. Easy to learn (No coding experience required, just some creativity). Easy to Implement, especially with the new AI Application Builder. Customer Support is quick and painless, great support from our Account Manager. The Quickbase University and Qrew are amazing resources to increase knowledge and skills, allowing more members to gain app building skills. The pipeline channels allow for easy integration with business critical applications such as Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, etc. and are really easy to implement. **What do you dislike about Quickbase?** Minimum number of users need to be less than 20 to remove the barrier for smaller businesses. Quickbase Mobile app forms needs to be improved and more features need to be added (Signature field, standard multi-file upload that doesn't require a plug-in and the ability to edit/ mark an image) Storage needs to be increased as user count increases New Forms need some work to make it more flexible for different screen sizes - needs to align to the middle of the screen rather than the left **What problems is Quickbase solving and how is that benefiting you?** The organisation has a large number of disconnected applications that result in a lot of manual work to gather and visualise data. You live up to your name QUICK. Many people do not understand how fast it is. We work with thousands of records and in some table we have more than 1000 fields, and yet when you search it or create a custom report, everything is almost instantenous. You gotta love it. **What do you dislike about Quickbase?** Blocking Javascripts. We still can use Javascripts for some imports to multiple tables at the same time, and I know through Pipelines similar can be done, but it is not the same. But that is all. Everything else is amazing about Quickbase. **What problems is Quickbase solving and how is that benefiting you?** I wouldn't say problems. But Quickbase enables me to create anything that we need, from Mobile usage, to complex Billings etc. ### 23. A new field has to be made and connected to a different field. I hate paperwork, I hate filing cabinets and when I had a chance to build a lab from scratch I made it clear we would have no paper in the lab. I was shown quickbase by a colleague and within days I was building the basic foundations of a lab information management system. As I got better with Quickbase through the online resources and some third party guidance I was able to build a complete end to end lab information management system. This software can cost over $70k for a small to medium sized lab and we didnt want to get sucked into a static system than was slow to change in our dynamic organization. Now we manage the operation, upgrades and data management internally and everything is custom tailored to our needs **What do you dislike about Quickbase?** Maybe I havent had a good look around the learning resources available but I have had trouble getting from "intermediate" to "advanced" user skill abilities. Maybe some basic "this is how you build an app" strategy guidance could be useful. I am still learning so I chop up most of my frustration to skill rather than platform problems. We currently advise our employees to use the website version on their mobile devices and not the app version. But weve heard good things are around the corner. The inability to control the order of the tables visually at the top of the page has us forcing people to live in Dashboards (which are nice, but controlling the sort order would be better) **What problems is Quickbase solving and how is that benefiting you?** Too many systems that users are not using. We are bringing all the data together Users with too much access or not enough. Our other systems dont allow pinpoint user access and roles. Quickbase does. On Demand Reports. Other reporting options in our other system are slow or dont load at all.
