"A Strong Tool for Better Data Modeling, Governance, and Collaboration"
What do you like best about erwin Data Modeler?

It makes it much easier to understand relationships between entities, maintain consistency across the data model, and document the overall architecture. I also appreciate that it supports both logical and physical modeling, which is very helpful when moving from business requirements to implementation. Overall, it’s a strong tool for improving data design quality, collaboration, and governance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about erwin Data Modeler?

What I dislike about erwin Data Modeler is that the user experience can sometimes feel outdated and less intuitive than more modern tools. For new users in particular, the interface and certain workflows take time to learn and get comfortable with. On top of that, some tasks feel more manual than I would expect, and collaboration or integration with other modern platforms isn’t always as seamless as it could be. Overall, while it’s a powerful tool, there’s clearly room to improve usability and day-to-day efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Design, But Performance Lags on Large Models"
What do you like best about erwin Data Modeler?

I really enjoy using erwin Data Modeler for designing visual maps of my database, as it makes the schema accessible to everyone. The design is very user-friendly, and I don't need several applications to cover my needs. I appreciate that there are no more manual syntax errors or typos when deploying new tables. The visualization is complex, ensuring no messy tables. I also like the ability to rename or change several tables with one click, which saves a lot of time. The initial setup was very easy and understandable, with no need to watch tutorial videos. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about erwin Data Modeler?

I think the point for improving for erwin Data Modeler is performance with huge models, cause if you have a 1000+ entities and complex relations it can lag or even crash. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Clear, Detailed Data Modeling That Improves Consistency and Reduces Errors"
What do you like best about erwin Data Modeler?

What I like best about erwin Data Modeler is how clearly it helps in designing and visualizing database structures. The tool makes it easy to create and understand complex data models, which is very useful when working with large databases.

I also like the detailed level of control it provides for entities, relationships, and attributes. The diagrams are clean and make collaboration with developers and database teams much easier. Overall, it helps reduce design errors and improves consistency before implementation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about erwin Data Modeler?

One thing I dislike about erwin Data Modeler is that the interface feels a bit outdated compared to newer tools. It can take time for new users to get comfortable, especially if they are not familiar with data modeling concepts.

Performance can slow down when working with very large or complex models, and the licensing cost can be high. Also, collaboration features could be improved, as sharing and version control are not as smooth as some modern cloud-based tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Data Management and Collaboration"
What do you like best about erwin Data Modeler?

I like that erwin Data Modeler is easy to use, allowing me to turn data into something visible and structured with minimal effort. It helps make collaboration easier between technical and business teams by providing something concrete to align around, reducing misunderstandings. The tool aids in designing, organizing, and improving data structure and is very reliable for governance, compliance, and reporting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about erwin Data Modeler?

Maybe conversations could be less abstract, it should be able to look at entities, relationships and definitions in a form that is easier to discuss. And there's always room to improve upon the reduction of ambiguity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful CASE Tool for High-Quality Data Modeling and Database Design"
What do you like best about erwin Data Modeler?

A CASE tool used to discover, visualize, design, deploy, and standardize high-quality data assets. It helps data professionals create both logical and physical data models, reverse-engineer existing databases, and automate DDL generation across relational, NoSQL, and cloud databases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about erwin Data Modeler?

Nothing to be changed but needs to analyse faster and clearer.

It’s really helpful and excellent and more informative analysis

Update is needed to make it more accessible Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simplifies Data Visualization, But Pricey"
What do you like best about erwin Data Modeler?

I use erwin Data Modeler for ML data modeling and to visualize which tables are used to define the data architecture. I appreciate how it helps to visualize the diagram, making complex data architecture easy to explain and understandable for non-technical people. I like the reverse and forward engineering capabilities. The features I value the most are the data dictionary and reverse engineering tools. I also found that importing schemas is straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about erwin Data Modeler?

It's costly and working with big data tables makes it slow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful for enterprise data modeling, but comes with a steep price and learning curve"
What do you like best about erwin Data Modeler?

The forward and reverse engineering capabilities are genuinely solid — being able to go from a logical model straight to DDL without losing fidelity saves a lot of back-and-forth. The notation support (IE, IDEF1X) covers what most teams actually need, and the model comparison/merge feature has saved us more than once when two people worked on the same model in parallel. Once you get past the learning curve, the interface is pretty intuitive for complex schemas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about erwin Data Modeler?

Licensing cost is the elephant in the room — it's hard to justify for smaller teams or occasional users. The UI feels dated compared to newer tools, and startup time is slower than it should be. Collaboration features could be much better; real-time co-editing isn't really there. Also, some of the documentation is thin for less common database targets. "Visualizes Database Structures Effortlessly"
What do you like best about erwin Data Modeler?

I mainly use erwin Data Modeler for designing and understanding database structures in a clear and structured way. It helps create logical and physical data models, making it easier to visualize how different tables and relationships are connected. I find it helpful for documentation and communication with team members, as the visual models make it easier for both technical and non-technical people to understand the data flow. I like how erwin Data Modeler makes complex database structures easy to understand through clear visual diagrams. The reverse engineering feature is especially useful, as it saves time when working with existing databases. It helps to keep database design organized and easy to communicate. Additionally, using it alongside SQL-based tools and Excel for data analysis is beneficial. Overall, it helps improve data quality, structure, and planning before implementation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about erwin Data Modeler?

One area that could be improved is the user interface as it can feel a bit outdated and slightly complex for new users at first. However once it familiar with it, the functionality is strong and reliable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Everything is clear and easy to use. The data modelling makes a lot possible and helps make things usable for everyday needs. I don’t feel the need to use other platforms or services. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about erwin Data Modeler?

The payments: I think the payment process could be better and more user-friendly. Improving it would also help other people who use the app for this kind of purpose. Overall, the app itself could be more user-friendly as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
