What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

QuarkXpress is a good program, quite easy and intuitive to create print or digital content. It's perfect for projects that start and end in one file.

Its strong point is its simplicity of use and its diffusion, especially several years ago. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuarkXPress?

In my opinion, at the moment, QuarkXpress is a program surpassed by others on competitors. In particular, Adobe InDesign offers a range of integrated services and programs to create much more complete and complex projects. The usefulness of Quark always depends on the purpose of use.

Recommendations to others considering QuarkXPress:

Use QuarkXpress if you do not have too many pretensions in your projects and especially if you do not need to share files with other people to finalize your works. Often there can be problems for the compatibility of the versions used or of the extensions. If you have to do a simple project yourself, it's perfect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is QuarkXPress solving and how is that benefiting you?

"There are no words to describe how much I hate this program"

What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

It will create an ePub3 and it is a stand alone program so there is no subscription as with Adobe. The people in India try to help and are nice. I have hopes that I may eventually be able to create a good ePub from my InDesign files, but it may kill me first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuarkXPress?

Pretty much everything else. I taught myself PageMaker in the 90s and InDesign and PhotoShop later on. On occasion I looked something up online, but it was intuitive. With Quark nothing seems intuitive. Everything takes more keystrokes (such as having to click on something then press <ctrl> k to delete it and that's the tip of the iceberg - having to move type is a whole new nightmare and takes twice as long) I purchased it because I hate the subscription of Adobe and can't really afford it, but I need to create ePub3 files and Quark imports InDesign files. It's be untold hours trying to get a single reflowable epub created with the images in the right place. The User Manual is nearly unusable, the online resources go everywhere but the word you search and there are no books, no online tutorials, and where multiple sites have InDesign information, I pretty much can't find Quark anywhere. If it weren't for the ePub need, and the cursed Adobe subscription ripoff, I would have never touched this program with a ten foot pole. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is QuarkXPress solving and how is that benefiting you?

Adobe has an expensive subscription. I need to be able to create ePub files for my clients and Quark will open InDesign files. At this point I have no benefits. I have tears, stress and a lot of wasted time. I have people sending me the same "solutions" over and over and over, although they didn't work the first time. I had someone do the book for me, and generate an epub that has problems, yet not show me how to address the problem that it had originally so I can't go back and fix things. I hope to get useable ePub 3 files from my InDesign files eventually, but I'm starting to lose hope. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Love what I can do with Quark"

What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

Quark is easy to learn. I got on the job training and was worried about layout but it was pretty intuitive and laid out in a way that made sense. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is QuarkXPress solving and how is that benefiting you?

We create a newsletter at my work. It saves me hours each month from coming up with a look that works. I found a template online and only have to change out the colors. "Happy After Two Decades Using Quark"

What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

Quark is an amazing publishing and design platform. I've been using it since my first design job almost 20 years ago. I'm a happy loyal customer and user. It's incredibly intuitive and works well with my other preferred platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering QuarkXPress:

I think of quark like an old reliable workhorse. It's always been my go to because even after years of upgraded packages, the quality and usability is consistent. Not to mention those upgrades have included some great features and shortcuts. I've used quark for everything from designing magazines to marketing materials, personal business cards and credentials, and I even gravitate to it over word for basic documents. It seems to work incredibly easily with other applications like photoshop, PPT, acrobat and more. Hands down worth the investment! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

I find the program supremely easy to use, but that may be because I grew up on it, using it from its earliest days. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I dislike that so many folks work in InDesign, so it isn't easy to swap files, etc. I also am distraught that there is no program released yet that allows me to open old Quark files (from the 1990s and 2000s) in the most recent version of Quark. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

What problems is QuarkXPress solving and how is that benefiting you?

Problems: variable fonts aren't fully supported yet, and the font menu can get so large that not all active fonts show.

Benefits: more intuitive than InDesign for layout, layer control, incredible at finetuning font appearances (kerning, tracking, leading, etc.), PDF import and export, InDesign import/conversion… there's a lot here to make your experience worthwhile! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"THE ONLY THING I USE!!!"

What do you like best about QuarkXPress?
