"Easy..,"

What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

Quark is simple and intuitive to use. The menu, palettes and quick keys allow me to create and finish projects swiftly. I especially live ke the ease of adding footnotes to a project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuarkXPress?

Sometimes I wish I could find quick tool tips or easier explanation to use features in Quark. I had an issue that every time my computer was restarted, that I needed to login to use the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent software for our company supply catalog."
5/5
What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

We like how easy the user interface is to navigate through. It allows us to keep track of our catalog versions year to year and make adjustments on the fly. We have never needed to look for alternatives because every year the Quark XPress software gets better and better. The dark mode is now a great thing for our company to make it easier on our employees eyes. Our company has used this software for numerous years now and we take advantage of the generous upgrade discounts each year and the technical support is top noch when it comes to the various questions our employees using the software may have or issues (which are very rare). With Quark XPress 2021 it has InDesign support which is an amazing inclusion and should prove very useful for our internal art department. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuarkXPress?

We do not have any complaints with the product. The customer support we get with the Quark team is far more than we could ever ask for. We usually have zero issues from our year to year upgrades we do and find paying the money every year to get the latest version is more than worth the price so we get all the fancy new features. "A forgotten gem of a program"
4.5/5
What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

I have only been using the full version of QXP 2021 for a month now, but I have found it quite robust and fairly intuitive for a book layout and design project I have been working on. I know there is a wealth more features that I have barely scraped the surface of yet, and I am looking forward to getting the best out of this program. I had been using InDesign CS6 and for most projects and also the free version of Viva Designer, which is also an interesting program, although with a few more bugs than I have experienced so far with QXP 2021. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuarkXPress?

There is a lot to learn and it will take some time to fully master the program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"QuarkXPress Review"
5/5
What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

I would say ease of use, but still this is a matter of preference. I was trained to use Quark, as I earned my Bachelor of Fine Art degree in Graphic Design. I studied hard, and got really efficient at, so it's easy for me to go in and quickly do what I want with Quark. Two-thirds, through my college study, the professor started teaching us InDesign. I didn't like it so much because it was a little cumbersome to use, but this is because I had not done extensive training on my own to learn it, so I am slower at InDesign, but I am certain it can be just as good as Quark. I often use command + M to access a palette where you can change around images imported into Quark, edit text, and arrange elements. I forget the name of the palette. Linking pages is nice too when you have to deal with alot of text or create a book/magazine/etc. You can easily import text and edit it. Collect for Output is a great feature when you need to get a project to the Printer. Many people who don't know Quark well, miss out on this feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuarkXPress?

I haven't been able to use the latest version of Quark, I am still using version 7. I would like to see some more features for editing Photos, Colors, and effects. I forget the name of the palette off the top of my head, but you do command + M, I think control + M on PC, to access it. I still haven't had the chance to check out the latest version of Quark. I need to download a trial to give it a test run. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best Desktop Publishing system available - by far!"

What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

I've been using Quark for over 20 years as a professional freelance creative, and it's a joy to use. I use it to create books, magazines, posters, and large format signs. I've used other applications over the years and always prefer to use Quark for its streamlined and uncomplex user interface and simplicity for output. The drag and drop functionality for images makes for seamless working, and compared to InDesign, it's so much easier and powerful to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuarkXPress?

For me, I feel that the digital publishing tools aren't ready for rollout and Quark should be investing more into developing that as a professional solution. Also, there has been several years where the support at Quark has been poor and users have felt left out of the loop. However, since the recent change in the running of the company, Quark's team has been very responsive to input and also great with my own personal support needs. Finally, they have been a number of instances where the PDF output has removed the filter effects. A workaround was provided in the Quark Forum but I hope that Quark fix that issue. "Always the best desktop publishing software."

What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

I love that essentially, this program has remained the same for 26 years that I have been using it. The tools work well and I go do layups quickly and precisely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuarkXPress?

I have 2 things that I would like to see improved, one thing is that often when I try to select text, I'll instead put a new text box. It's one of those little aggravations that end up taking up time. The other thing I would like it to see previews of documents in the open window. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Have used QuarkXPress for more than 30 years!"
5/5
What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

I have been using QuarkXPress since Version 2.0, around 1990. I taught layout and design for 20 years; breaking down procedures is methodical in QuarkXPress, and students can become proficient in the application. I just love using this application. Since 1990, I have also been a layout designer of nursing publications, including journals and books of more than 1,000 pages. I also use it for many church/community projects, like address directories and booklets.

Quark’s new Advantage plan is useful, and assistance is available when needed. I like the purchase system rather than the subscription-based of its competitor.

Its competitor application does too much “thinking” and decision making for a user. Quark lets users have more control and be their own decision makers. The college I work in moved to the competitor application, so I had to learn that as well, but I still prefer and use QuarkXPress. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuarkXPress?

Sometimes there may be some quirks in a new version, but I have found that Quark corrects them in the updates. And sometimes an older document doesn't open in newer versions. I would like to see the Document Converter be updated to work with newer Mac OS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I like it better than InDesign"
4/5
What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

I've been using QuarkXpress since the early 90's. It was easy to learn then and has grown with the times. I'm faster in Quark than I am in InDesign and...bottom line...that makes me more productive and the software the best choice for me when designing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuarkXPress?

The "table" feature on Quark doesn't work as well as InDesign. Other than that, I have zero issues with Quark on a day to day basis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about QuarkXPress?

Some of the old Quickkeys are still the same. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about QuarkXPress?

The fact that Quark doesn't seem to be a great deal to do with knocking a bit of print out these days. There is so much stuff that really doesn't interest me and that i'll never need to use but I've got to get past all the stuff for that kind of thing before i can just get on with a print job.
