It was easy to use. Our company was offer a free trial that was used. And trial was ended in 7 days. So as I said it was trial so I didn't got much time to see what was all the features this software was providing. My company was a small. So there was not much of a infrastructure to built on the basis of this software but we tried our best to keep the assets secure and managed with this software. **What problems is Qualys VMDR solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our biggest problem was asset management, Vulnerabilty management and Patch deplyment. This product supports all.Our company was offer a free trial that was used. And trial was ended in 7 days. So that was all with my expirence with this software. But I am happy I have used it in my experience and it solves a lot of problems which companies are facing now a days in their infrastructure. ### 2. Being a beginner sometimes it is hard to connect information. Also syncing of information sometimes lags like if I am changing settings of an appliance it might not be reflected soon on Qualys dashboard. It allows you to (essentially) replace the "old school" internal authenticated scanning process with a continuous light-weight agent based scanning and reporting process. Getting the agent deployed as part of normal CI/CD build processes in modern cloud architecture/infrastructure deployments is a piece of cake as well. It has worked fairly reliably too. **What do you dislike about Qualys VMDR?** Getting support is painful. I ran into a recent issue with the VM API that suddenly occurred out of the blue, with nothing more than a non-descript general error message. Opened a support ticket, and two months later, it still wasn't resolved. I ended up tracking it down myself to an issue with our account (an accident made on their end to our subscription), and that was apparently what was causing the random error. Additionally, there seems to be little-to-no innovation happening and I rarely see any meaningful updates to the platforms we use (VMDR, PCI, WAS, FIM) aside from them breaking out pre-existing modules into new stand-alone services that they then add as new SKUs ( and want to charge extra $$$). For example, instead of improving the existing, native asset management/inventory management module that is included with VMDR, they build a new Cyber Security Asset Management (CSAM) platform, designate the old one as a "legacy" module, and now charge extra for the new one. Total BS. **What problems is Qualys VMDR solving and how is that benefiting you?** Qualys VMDR is a decent vulnerability management solution that is relatively holistic in terms of satisfying internal, external, and host-based vulnerability scanning needs. We mainly use it (over another solution like Tenable) simply because their PCI module is straightforward to use and reliable (and we're in the payments space, so PCI is a must). It's nice to have everything (PCI, WAS, VMDR, FIM, etc.) under one roof. There is much to be desired in the VMDR, WAS, and FIM modules, though. If you want to automate or integrate with ChatOps, you'll be forced to roll your own integration. There's not even a Slack or other collaboration platform integration for VMDR or WAS module, so we were forced to build our own Slack relay for VM and WAS scans; otherwise, we'd be forced to rely on email reports. ### 7. Also, the capability to run the scans on the cloud platform and containers with a holistic view of the assets is very impressive. **What do you dislike about Qualys VMDR?** As such I do not have anything to dislike about Qualys but I would really like to see improvements in Web Application scanning capabilities and enhanced patching facility on other platforms. **Recommendations to others considering Qualys VMDR:** If you truly want perfect vulnerability management and policy compliance tool then the organization's top priority should be Qualys only. **What problems is Qualys VMDR solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have used Qualys since 2015 and I have seen how Qualys has grown since then so I can really say it has solved many problems for me and for the customers I have served. Starting from accurate Vulnerability Scanning reports to Policy compliance reporting Qualys really helped me in reporting accurate vulnerabilities and helped in identifying the accurate compliance status of the organization's security posture. ### 8. We did a trial of the patch management portion of VMDR and it was highly overpriced for what it was capable of. It is still relatively new on the market so there is certainly room for improvement. **Recommendations to others considering Qualys VMDR:** Get support from Qualys to get tags and reports set up. The sheer number of vulnerabilities that Qualys VMDR detects often results in the platform reporting that your network has 10s of thousands of holes in the network - figuring out what to tackle first can be overwhelming for some. **What problems is Qualys VMDR solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are all human, and miss things as a result.
