It was not until the next payment came due that they warned us that all of our codes would expire unless we kept paying. Now, we have to throw away all our collateral and print new - or pay them forever. Isn't that called "hostage taking?!" Run! When I realized this (too late), I went to purchase a 1 month subscription, only to find I was billed annually, another thing that wasn't nearly as clear as it should have been doing checkout. This is a company that clearly tries to convert paid users by obscuring their pricing and policies. When I reached out to customer support, they refused to downgrade me to a monthly plan, issue a refund, or make any exception whatsoever. There are a lot of QR code generators out there, I strongly recommend you choose another option and do not bother with any of the free or paid services from this company. This solution hoodwinked me into thinking it could provide that. ### 7. I should know this was Bait to Switch for an expensive product. Following deactivation, I believed I was activating my QR Code for a total of $9.99 only to find out I purchased a $120 product. I immediately tried to cancel the purchase but there is not a phone number and the AI Bot was not helpful. Through various emails with "customer service" I learned I paid $120 to create 2 QR Codes. And, there are absolutely no refunds ever given and no exceptions to this policy (insert BIG red flag). **What do you dislike about QRCG?** While this very expensive lesson cost me a lot and took supply money away from my students, I will continuing sharing/educating others in hopes that no other educator takes the BAIT and pays dearly as I did! $120 for 1 User and 2 QR Codes. That is $60 per QR Code. There are FREE and appropriately priced QR Code Generators for educators who are trying to meet the multifaceted needs of students and stakeholders. **What problems is QRCG solving and how is that benefiting you?** My case has been "SOLVED" per the email I received. At this point, I am focused on educating other "One time users" such as teachers so they do not lose money unintentionally. ### 8. What they do for a fee (undisclosed fee!) can be done just as well for free elsewhere. **What do you dislike about QRCG?** They do not inform you up front that the QR codes you are generating will seem to work fine for 2 weeks and then will be disabled. Those 2 weeks are just enough time to get everything printed off and distributed and then they hold you hostage. They will claim that they have a free plan, but they never tell you that there is a difference between dynamic and static codes and the way to choose a static code is very effectively hidden - the end result is that you are unable to switch to the free plan unless you abandon all the codes you used (printed, distributed) and create new ones. I thought I could switch to a paid plan for a month and at least the majority of the scans of my now-printed-and-distributed codes would be valid, but, NO, you can't sign up for a month. You have to sign up for a year and there's no partial refund even if I cancel after a day. **What problems is QRCG solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is causing me major headaches. I am working for a non-profit with a very limited budget. These QR codes were not considered in our budgeting at all. All of a sudden our whole print run is wasted because these guys pulled their hostage-taking game and are holding my print run hostage. ### 11. It is no easier to use than QRCodeMonkey, which is very straightforward with its upgrading options and has all the same capabilities. **What do you dislike about QRCG?** There are two different kinds of QR to generate, dynamic and static. Static is free, dynamic is not. It is not clear when you enter the website that if you create a dynamic QR code, you will lose access to this QR code unless you pay for a subscription. I received a notification about receiving a scan on my code and clicked the link to check out the website and came to find that my QR code will be expiring in 10 days. I was confused as to how I had made this mistake and panicked because we had printed this QR code on signage, so I tried to create another one to see where I messed up. When creating a QR code, you are taken to a landing page where you can select what you want the QR code for (website, social media, etc) UNDERNEATH this list, in faint, tiny writing, it says static codes and there is a little plus button you hit to bring up the dropdown menu for static QR codes. It is purposefully hidden this way so you will miss it and select a dynamic code instead. Nowhere on this page does it explain the difference between a dynamic and static code and that you will eventually have to pay for one over the other. This website and process is incredibly unclear and misleading. There is nowhere on the website to even contact anybody with a complaint. This appears to be a legitimate business but feels incredibly scammy with the way they basically trap you into using the dynamic codes. **What problems is QRCG solving and how is that benefiting you?** They have only created panic and a headache for me. ### 13. We made them Dynamic so you can only use them if you pay our Annual Plan. Nothing worse than a SAAS that depends on tricking their users into paying. And if you really need those QRs you can't even pay a monthly subscription. Nope, they only offer an annual Plan. Then I received a reply with zero understanding, zero empathy, and zero compassion. They stated they sent a reply 30 days prior which they absolutely did not. As many of the others in this forum have stated, they lie about sending a notification and just charge you. I cannot recommend highly enough that you go with a different QR code service. In Jan 2022 we were charged for the whole year and upon sharing the communications to their customer services agent Sana Mahmaudi, she refused the refund straight stating sorry we won't be able to refund you - she had zero knowledge of the issue and hasn't responded since I tried reaching for further clarification. The whole image of the company has been destroyed with simple tricks she played with us. **What problems is QRCG solving and how is that benefiting you?** We wanted to get a platform that will help us generate QR codes, although there were many free versions available we wanted to try QR Code Generator Pro - There has been no difference between the paid and free version we decided to cancel and turns out these people don't refund you even if you cancel and get a confirmation email for cancellation. I don't want to print QR codes on event pages with fixed URLs when I might to change them, so I pay. **What problems is QRCG solving and how is that benefiting you?** Each time I printed QR codes there was always a case when I wanted to change the code afterwards and I want to track how often it was scanned. We did printed hiring campaigns or ads for events like hackathons and used QR codes. After the event we could easily change the targets and could see how often people scanned or codes. This is pretty terrible because I have sender tags on my emails, so I know they've read them along with seeing that my comments on Intercom are marked as "seen" but with no response. This is no better than many lower priced options in terms of features and ease of use. Nearly everything offered is provided by competitors at a lower price, without the sneaky on-way upgrade path. **What do you dislike about QRCG?** This is a trap. After trying this out for free users are lured into extra features at a very high price. If you make the mistake of trying these, you'll never get your QR codes to work again. Rather than simply reverting to free codes if you decide to stop using advanced features, your codes die, and you are forced to pay a full year's Pro subscription to reactivate them (and only temporarily). **Recommendations to others considering QRCG:** Avoid. I had what I thought was a free account, except that it wasn't. It defaults to a paid account by deceptive means, and then when you refuse to pay you get demands with menaces. If you don't live in Germany you have to pay by international bank transfer, which whacks another £15 onto the bill. This is a SCAM designed to relieve you of your hard-earned money. It's 2020, everyone is struggling except of course operators with the moral compass of a con merchant.
