As a Power BI developer, what I like most is the access to our data and the control we have around it. I can build BI reports that drive our operational meetings and let us make data based decisions. If I don't have data, I can create a manual location in QAD Redzone with ease and start collecting structured data that way. We built an LDMS Tier 2 meeting structure in Power BI, so our reports are fully automated and managers no longer need to prepare data, we pull it into BI automatically from the Redzone Snowflake Database. The most valuable parts for me are the waste and rejects analytics, we can track them very accurately and see the trends and act on it, so our improvement efforts are accurate and legit. I also like that by having Redzone chats configured to join all departments like Production, Ovens and Packing, we improve our communication and make problems visible, so issues get addressed and resolved much quicker. The one thing that could be improved is the QAD Redzone APIs. There are a lot of endpoints, but a fair bit is missing. For example, with the /users endpoint, there's only one endpoint to list users. There's no endpoint to create, update, or delete users programmatically. My goal with the APIs is to build an AI agent that would act as an admin, so instead of me adding new products, asset types, or users, the agent could do this. The missing endpoints get in the way of that. The initial setup isn't the easiest journey either. It's admin heavy and requires understanding the Web Admin architecture. Some things need to be created first and added in a later step. For example, before you create a new product, you must have locations created, as well as Manufacturing Types, Asset Types, Units of Measure, and so on. From the minute I got sent the link to explore the software I was hooked. Redzone is the one stop shop for manufacturing, integrating production management, problem solving, maintenance, quality, training, and best of all communication into one tool.

What I really like is that even for the most basic computer user, it's easy to pick up. During my first deployment I vividly remember training one of my old timer supervisors, who barely could use his email. I thought to myself, "he's never going to use this, it's too hard". Fast forward 2 weeks later and he's showing me that he figured out how to look at the performance trend in his department and his top downtime reasons. He wanted me to start a project to help him solve the problem. I was floored. I barely even knew how to find that information myself let alone someone who was likely the least tech savvy in our plant figuring it out on his own - this thing had to be magic. We teamed up and improved that top downtime making them the best performing department in our plant.

As a continuous improvement manager I was immediately more in tune with the problems at my site. I could finally chat with all those 3rd shift operators that I rarely saw, read the notes from all the huddles the day before to see what issues were happening, and monitor our quality checks to ensure they were trending the in right direction. Having so much more useful data at my fingertips is a gamechanger. In-app data can get you far but if you learn how to use Tableau (which you get licenses included with your redzone subscription) the opportunity is endless.

And then there are the Redzone coaches. I could go on and on about how fantastic they are but specifically Derrick Griffin has helped me see what great could look like. He lives and breathes "Empower the frontline to improve the bottom line" connecting with operators - even if they don't speak the same language. He's worked with all parts of our team and is an influential voice to help integrate the continuous improvement mindset into the culture of our company. He encourages me to not give up when deployments get hard and gives me new angles to attack changing people's behaviors. There honestly isn't much to dislike, but coming into a legacy Redzone company - with many admins before me - it was hard to sort through their customizations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I really like being able to pull up the dashboard and see how efficiently we've run throughout the day. It's great to see things in real-time, which helps me make better decisions faster. I've really enjoyed getting rid of old paper checks and doing them in QAD Redzone because those checks are available in the same place as all the productivity information. We've also created some operator care checks that we didn't have documentation for before, which helps me hold everyone accountable to the tasks that make a difference to production. On top of all that, the software comes with coaching, and our Coach, Aaron Jackson, has coached us in a way that makes sense and it is very easy to learn. Redzone helps me manage data easily and quickly. It also helps our team pinpoint what we need to focus on and where. The graphs and built-in data in Redzone provide about 85% of the information I need or that gets requested, and for the remaining 15% I’m able to use Tableau. Redzone is such a great tool to capture data in real-time, help eliminate quality check forms on paper, trigger scheduled checks to help remind team members when a check needs to be completed, and easy access of historical data sheets when performing document reviews. There is nothing that I dislike about Redzone. There is one improvement that I would like to suggest if we can add videos as attachments. RedZone helps reduce human error in quality and food safety checks. In my experience, the main reason checks get missed or aren’t completed properly is that the operator, supervisor, or manager gets pulled away to handle other duties, and their daily tasks end up being overlooked. I often find that there are parts of a check that I’d like to reuse in other checks with slight modifications, but there isn’t an easy way to do that.
