## PyCharm Reviews
  ### 1. Great IDE overall, but make sure your computer is powerful enough

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**What do you like best about PyCharm?**

Overall, PyCharm is very easy to use and intuitive. It’s fully featured, and works across multiple platforms. The documentation is well thought out and it’s easy to build and run projects. I also love the dark theme that makes it easy on the eyes especially if you're using it in the night time.

**What do you dislike about PyCharm?**

Because this IDE is heavy weight, it eats up too many resources and it’s a battery killer. It also causes the fans to spin too fast under normal to moderate use.

**Recommendations to others considering PyCharm:**

PyCharm is a great IDE for developers. Just know that there are lighter weight and less resource consuming options out there.

**What problems is PyCharm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem I’m solving is using an easy to use IDE. The benefits are that it has an easy layout and color coded text making it easy to find errors. Also the UI is well laid out and the icons are easy to read and understand.

  ### 2. Good idea, terrible implementation

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tanim I. | Design Physicist, Research, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2018

**What do you like best about PyCharm?**

It has elements of good IDE: refactoring, etc

**What do you dislike about PyCharm?**

Horrible design. So much memory I cannot use my machine.

**Recommendations to others considering PyCharm:**

For scientific programming, use VI(m) or Emacs. Use an emacs or VI module that implements useful elements of a full IDE if needed.

**What problems is PyCharm solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ostensibly, The maintenance and further development of complicated python packages. These packages also contain compiled sub modules, such as C and Fortran code with python wrappers.
